Why in all Indian tele shows, the female lead is abused to no end? Just for an example, from Gopi to Ishita to Suhani everyone is abused to an extent that I am amused by. Astha is now in better place, but she was in horrible shape herself!!

All of these couples never have an relation with each other be it mental or physical bonding for long time after marriage. All the women go through abuse and at the end of it man feels that wow she has the highest tolerance for his abuse and realizes sudden love.

Does this happen in Indian society? Do people not consummate their marriage for long time and woman get abused and man gets to be a macho by pushing her, pulling her, hurting her physically even though at small scale, screaming at and many more abusive forms that are considered domestic violence. Is this norm in Indian families in India????

Are Indian girls so submissive and such pure hearted like all the leading ladies??? Give your scoop girls. If possible let me know if you are a male or female.

Typical soap bahus are being portrayed as pure hearted with high tolerance levels for the sake of trp's... in real world, no woman with self respect bears such nonsense.. ! Also no fool will not marry someone who he/she hates but just continues the relationship for the sake of others.. it is another crap..

Thank you for your opinion. I would not have stayed even that night of the wedding if I was in place of Suhani. All the screaming and pushing her away in rude manner speak a lot. It was clear that the guys had some weird problems. Even though she thought he loved her, he came with huge baggage, apart from his weird self his intolerable family. I would simply call my parents, go back, sort myself out, find a job to divert attention and heal myself and my family from the trauma and move on. I wish they make a show on a girl who is normal. Not a dumb abnormal psycho all the time!!!

I agree with u.
This type of tolerance u can't find in Indian society specially today's generation.
We believe in tit for tat.
BT Indian soap r so generous that they are showing girl which u hardly or can't find.this type of girl if u want to find then go back 20-30 years back.

Firstly a healthy relationship between hero and heroine cant get u TRP. So they show a twisted relationship😕, where audience gets glued to tv waiting for them to unite..
Secondly Indian soaps are watched mostly by women, So they need to show them as Super heroes.

Regarding abuse.. I think abuse here is a little big word.. They are giving a bad time for Suhani as they don't like her.. Such things happen in real life too.. If I would be in that situation I would have eaten my husband's brain and try to sort that out by getting out and keeping a separate family(Which sounds bad)..

I don't think girls 20-30 years back tolerated such things. If you look at female characters in telly shows that were on doordarshan some 30 years back, they were more progressive than those in so called today's shows. In fact this trend of hate marriage and not consummating marriage for a long time started from Ekta Kapoor. Why go further, If you look at Indiaforums there are fan girls who just love such male leads who push, pin down, insult women. And these are real young girls. They find it oh so hot !

I dnt live in india bt coz of these shows I have almost a semi negative perception of indian woman, men and their families. I think what they trying to show is an ideal, idol woman. We all to an extent want to see the good in ppl the way these girls do bt its impossible to do so in real life coz we human and we get mad, hurt, we get jealous, vain, egotistical bt non of these things are shown in these girls. Just perfect, patient goddesses. Who never have a bad thought ab any1. Their concept of the perfect woman is so far off its absolutely ridiculous. Quite frankly no offence to any religion bt Sita really screwed indian perception of what a woman should be. Really that walking on coal to prove her purity has made indian society end up like this where woman are continuously having to prove themselves to the ppl around them and this is being depicted in the sort of woman we are seen on tv at the moment these girls are shown as the sacrificial lamb who never answers back, continuously proves herself to no avail and take any amt of insults just coz she is pure and patient. And only until the last min does she answer back aka sita after being exiled by her husbands sees him and decides to go into the earth and go back to her mother. Quite cruel if u think ab it coz what she should have done was not be embarrassed and gone back and lived in the same village/city that her husband was in and show him the finger lol bt instant she stayed in the forest with her kids and is seen as the epitome of what woman should be. Really we need for them to stop bases these girls on sita bt rather on Pavitra she is the epitome of strength, power and being an equal to her husband. She takes her life into her own hands aka that's hw baby ganesha came about. She wanted something and found a way to get it she is no push over and her husband knows that she is way more stronger than him and that if u mess with her she is capable of destroying everything and every1 in her sight. And than there is the families that these girls come from all poor and submissive with no backbone I dnt get why poorness is seen as a crime in india. Quite frankly suhani's parents are just plain shit if u ask me they can see something is wrong bt they dnt tell her to confront it bt rather expect her to manage. What sort of parents allow their child to be treated that way by any1. Atleast her mom though spoke to prats bt her dad is totally responsible for destroying suhani's life by 1 getting her married to yuvraj 2 by ignoring the sort of life she is living in that house. Bt atleast for the 1st time they showing a girl who actually puts her husband b4 all else and not her family, his family, her cousin sister(here friend sister). And they didn't make suhani sexless if u think ab it that's quite an improvement from most other shows

By showing these kind of stories the viewers will sympathise more
with these female characters and they are hooked to see how will the character
react or tackle these problems.

Television is a women's kingdom. The story revolves around the female
protagonist of the show,So thats why they are concentrating more on women😊

U r right. On doordarshan serials r good .they portray women power in healthy & societical manner. They give msg to society.
BT somewhere I would say one PC BT u can find high tolerance power of girl in 20 - 30 back.
I know girls drool on such behaviour of boys. That's
why makers come up with such nauincence .
Today's girls r self independent that's why I said today's girls not tolerate this & parents also support girls.
BT back to 20-30 parents not much support their girls .so they have to tolerate.
All I have to say.

What an excellent post👏👏 and I myself was wondering this a while back. All the leading ladies you mentioned are considered the epitome of womanhood because no matter what anybody says to them, they seldom fight back and always forgive those who torment them.

Suhani's silence when she is verbally abused the Foursome irks me to no end. 😡😡 The problem with Indian TV creatives is that they equate goodness with doormat behaviour. If you are letting people treat you like shit, it's not because you are good but because you lack a spine. Indian TV CVs should understand that sacrificing your self-respect at the altar of goodness is not the right thing to do. By taking abuse, these ladies are actually supporting evil because they are allowing evil people to walk over them. I always get very angry at Yuvraj when he keeps quiet in the face of the disgusting crap that Dadi doles out to Suhani and even at Suhani for just shutting up and listening. 😡

Although Indian TV is aimed at women, that doesn't mean that the content is going to be very woman-friendly. This is because the majority of female audiences in Indian happen to be housewives who actually have to deal with the kind of problems Gopi or Suhani face. Also, many a times, for the sake of maintaining family peace, these women have to put up with tyrants like Dadi in silence so they probably identify with such leads when they see them having to shut up and put up.
Indian TV's content will only start to show women on an equal footing with men when the women in their audience become equal to men in real life. It is only when the women in the audience become self-reliant and independent that they will reject such content. When such content is rejected, only then will Indian TV CVs change it and come up with more realistic scenarios.

I'm an Indian girl so I will tell you that India is such a huge country that there will be unfortunately, a lot of households where women are inferior to men and are abused and treated like second class citizens. This is a true fact that Indian women aren't on par with Indian men yet. I come from a very liberal household where my parents have loved me more than anyone possibly can and have given me every opportunity that they would have given to a son and more. What happens on these shows may happen in real life but there are many households, including my friends' where they are not treated like cattle.

Just like any other country, Indian TV is not an exact representation of Indian society so everything should be taken with a pinch of salt. There are Indian girls who are submissive but there are Indian girls who stand up for what they believe in. Our society has a long way to go and we are making progress; many Indian girls are changing for the better and are not putting up with abuse anymore.
