Chapter 3

Yuvraj managed to get up to the annoying sound of his alarm clock. He hadn't slept a wink last night. His thoughts continued to travel to Suhani. Where could she be and was she ok? He had an early morning flight to be in Delhi by 9am for the meeting so proceeded to get ready with the black shadow of this thoughts following him. He couldn't believe how much he missed Suhani. If she were here she would have packed his bag just the way he likes it and been up before him making sure he had something to eat before sending him off. Meanwhile he had Ramesh packing his bag and it appeared that Soumya hadn't mentioned to Ramesh to make breakfast early. Yuvraj just figured he would grab something on the airport to makedo. Soumya the little princess that she is would never dream of getting up this early since she needs her beauty sleep especially since hosting a party and looking pretty all night is exhausting work, Yuvraj thought to himself. He shook his head and headed off to the airport.

As Yuvraj stepped out of Delhi airport he sensed a familiar feeling. He couldn't put his finger on it, but it was a good feeling. He thought to himself that today will be a good day. He got into the car that was waiting for him and it took him directly the Invisage, the marketing agency he had the meeting with regarding the launch of their new beauty range. He was greeted by Sahil Metha the Head creative director. Good morning Mr Birlal, I hope that your flight in this morning was smooth'

Please call me Yuvraj, yes it was thanks for asking' Yuvraj responded. Again Yuvraj felt the sense of something familiar. He brushed it off thinking he should focus on the meeting at hand.

Sahil excited spoke I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Invisage to do the next campaign for your new line of beauty products. We hope that we will surpass your expectations. We have some great creative working here. In particular we have an upcoming brilliant talent, she has progressed in the last two years very quickly up the ranks. She is currently a Marketing Director and is absolutely amazing in her work.'

Yuvraj only heard a of what he was saying. His thoughts were filled will concern of why that feeling of now uneasiness was not leaving him. All he managed to say back to Sahil was OK, would like to meet her'. Sahil took that as the cue to ask his assistant to call her in.

Yuvraj then received a call from Pratima, on seeing her name he excused himself saying he had to take this call. What happened maa? he asked worriedly Is everything ok?' Pratima smiled through the phone Yes beta, I'm fine I just wanted to call and check you had arrived safely'. Yuvraj smiles to himself Oh maa, you scared me. I'm fine and I'm a big boy'. Yuvraj you will always be my little boy' Pratima responded. Maa, I'm in a meeting so I have to go' Yuvraj said. Whilst talking he had managed to wander over to the meeting room door. He had his back facing the door. As he finished his conversation with Pratima he turned around just as the door opened and kind of fell backwards. But before completely falling an arm grabbed his arm. As they both straighten up, Yuvraj couldn't believe his eyes. Are you ok Yuvraj?' Sahil questioned in a concerned voice. Yuvraj couldn't believe he was staring into a shocked pair of eyes.

Yuvraj, this is Suhani Srivastav our Marketing Director' Sahil spoke. Yuvraj was standing there like a stunned mullet. Suhani was just as shocked. She knew there was a big client coming in but she hadn't realised the account was with Birla company and she definitely didn't expect to be standing infront of Yuvraj.

Sahil broke her train of thought Suhani, this is Yuvraj Birla, CEO of Birla companies.' Suhani smiled as she reached out her hand to shake his and said Good morning Sir'. Yuvraj reached out and shook her hand and smiled and softly spoke Call me Yuvraj'

There was a knock on the door and a sweet young lady entered and apologised for interrupting, but that Suhani was needed urgently in another meeting. Suhani left the room, relieved that she didn't have to deal with anything more awkward.

Yuvraj was guttered to see Suhani walk away from him. He was damned if he let it happen again. Sahil, I know you mentioned how wonderful Suhani's work is and that she is the best and as far as I am concerned I want the best for my company. So I insist that she have full creative control on the Birla campaign. Normally I don't get into too much involvement in these projects, but this is my first full campaign and I think I will work well with Suhani so I want to be involved in all details and will extend my trip for this week.' Yuvraj was not going to let this opportunity go and he wanted to ensure that he take Suhani home.

Sahil broke his train of thought I'm sorry Yuvraj, but Suhani currently has a full client load, we can try and get her input on ideas, but we can't spare her for 1 week' Yuvraj felt his anger building. I don't care how you manage your workload. I'm the client and I want Suhani so I expect you to make it happen' Yuvraj snapped at Sahil.

Sahil not wanting to lose the account decided that he would relieve Suhani of all her other duties to fulfil Yuvraj's request. Though he was more nervous of how Suhani might take this. As she is extremely professional and loyal and has built rapport for her clients, she would not want to upset them for the sake of a new client.

Sahil excused himself from the room to talk to Suhani and returned awhile later and stated Yuvraj, Suhani is yours for the week.' Yuvraj's face when from a grimace to full fledge smile, his tone softened and he thanked Sahil for arranging this. Yuvraj then asked to be lead to Suhani so that work could begin. Sahil's assistant took Yuvraj towards Suhani's office. Yuvraj was hungry and it was lunch time so thought this would be perfect to chance to take Suhani out to Lunch. As he approached her office he noticed her deep concentration focusing on some design. Although the door was open he knocked on it to announce his arrival. Suhani looked up and with a bright smile said Come in'. Yuvraj was amazed he hadn't seen her in two years and she had changed so much. Now a hot shot marketing director, she had this newfound sense of confidence that was drawing him to her. She was independent and admired by her fellow employees. But he knew she was always able to win hearts that just how his Suhani was. He smiled at the thought HIS SUHANI. Coming out of his thoughts. Suhani asked him to take a seat. Sir, just to let you know I will actually still be working on my other clients this week. I cannot just forget my responsibilities towards them. I will however delegate what I can. I will work on those clients in my overtime and during my lunch breaks, so it will not interfere with your requirements'

Suhani, please don't call me sir, Yuvraj is fine' Yuvraj spoke and Suhani just nodded to confirm agreement. Suhani how about we discuss some ideas over lunch for the campaign' Yuvraj suggested, ignoring the fact she said she was busy earlier in hope that she would change her mind. Sorry sir, I mean Yuvraj, like I said I've got too much on' but you have to eat right?' Yuvraj made one last ploy. Yes and I have ordered some Somosas which I will munch on whilst I work. Thanks for your concern, please carry on.'

Yuvraj left her office kind of deflated. His first plan had failed, but he had the rest of this week to try and talk to her. He felt hurt as she was acting so distant. This is not the Suhani he knew that would take any opportunity to hug him. He knows he can't expect that from her, especially not after all that had happened and all the time they had been apart, but still. He couldn't understand why his presence didn't affect her. But he thought at the very least he could spend atleast the next 6 hours with her after lunch was over. He quickly grabbed something with Sahil and after lunch returned to large meeting room which would effectively be where all the work was going to be done. Yuvraj did a small presentation on the beauty products and what they aim to achieve with it.

Suhani was impressed and a little surprised that the beauty products where all natural and were to improve the quality of the skin as opposed to make the skin fairer. The products were not only going to be for high end retail, but something that would be affordable for the masses. This was usually not the Birla company target audience, but it appeared that a lot had changed in the past two years and especially since Yuvraj took control of the company.

Suhani had a few ideas and was talking through them whilst looking at her laptop. To get a closer look Yuvraj came around and was leaning over her shoulder to see the screen. Suhani was engrossed in what she was talking about didn't realised how close Yuvraj was to her. It was only when he said That's great' that she turned her head to see that Yuvraj's face was mere millimetres away from hers. Yuvraj wished he could freeze that moment. She smelt of sweet scented roses, her brown eyes had this depth in which he wanted to drown.

Sahil cleared his throat at which time Suhani and Yuvraj moved apart and the meeting continued. Yuvraj was really impressed. Suhani was actually a marketing guru, he wished he had paid more attention before to her. She had so many wonderful qualities and he never appreciated them. But he had decided he was going to make it up to her.
