Chapter 2
Yuvraj arrived home earlier than usual as he had a splitting headache. As he entered he noticed a lot of commotion, seemed like hundreds of people running around! His headache increasing with every moment and he couldn't understand what the fuss was all about and frankly he didn't give a crap. He just wanted some peace and quiet and a bed. Hi Baby' Yuvraj heard Soumya call out to him. What do you think of the arrangements? I was getting bored so thought we would throw a party to celebrate us being together for 2 years! Isn't it exciting?' Soumya practically squealed. Look Soumya, I'm really not in the mood today I have a splitting headache and I have to leave early tomorrow morning to go to Delhi' Yuvraj spoke frustrated.
Don't be a spoil sport baby. Work can wait. Just take some tablets and your headache will be fine. I can't throw a party for us and you not be there. We are the hosts. I've invited all our friends and press. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE' Soumya did her best pout and puppy dog eyes.
Yuvraj, Soumya is asking you so lovingly, you can't refuse such a beauty' Dadi commented. But dadi I have to go to Dehli tomorrow and I'm just really tired' Yuvraj tried to explain. You work too hard Yuvraj, you need to relax and attending the party will help' Dadi counter attacked. A deflated Yuvraj had not choice just to accept dadi request. Dadi patted Yuvraj on the shoulder whilst smiling Don't worry Soumya will pack your bag'. Soumya looked up smiling and said I've got to get ready for the party so I will get Ramesh to do it' This comment irked Dadi, but then again this is what she had choosen for her grandson beauty above all else.
Yuvraj dejectedly walked to his room and lay down on the bed, his hand resting on his head. He felt a warm hand start to massage balm in. He suddenly opened his eyes to see Pratima looking down at him. What's wrong beta?' she asked What is hassling you so much? Talk to me, so I can help you. Pratima practically begged him. Yuvraj basically became a workaholic a few months after Suhani left. Pratima longed to see that old smiling Yuvraj. That smile that reached his eyes, he still smiles now but there is this hesitancy. She finished massaging his head and gave him is tablets and asked him to rest.
Yuvraj lay alone in his bed. His thoughts travelled to the fact that today is the day two years ago that Suhani walked out of his life, not asking anything from him, not angry but simply wanting him to be happy. How much things had changed Yuvraj thought. When the truth came out he felt terrible as he knew it would hurt Suhani and he didn't want to hurt her as she was a victim in all this. But at the same time he was relieved that he didn't need to bear the burden of an unwanted relationship. Suhani was an amazing girl, but not for him and his family, that is what he kept telling himself. He thought they would sit down and calmly discuss what the next steps would be, but everything happened so fast. Dadi demanding that Suhani sign the divorce papers and she will be given a blank cheque which she could fill in herself and that should cover her and her family costs and if for any reason that should not be enough that she ask dadi for more. Suhani without a word went and packed a small bag and she left the room she came to the living area and signed the divorce papers that were left there by dadi. She picked up the blank cheque and walked towards dadi and said Dadi, I will not be needing this, I've never been interested in money all I wanted to earn was you and your family love and respect. I know I have made a lot of mistakes and made you angry numerous times, but please accept my apology.' Suhani than when to Pratima and took blessing and hugged her, she whispered something in her ear which no one heard. Suhani said bye to everyone and she finally reached him. He didn't know what to say. He wanted to hug her and apologise, but didn't have the guts to. It was late at night and he requested that she stay till morning and then go but she was adamant. He then insisted on driving to which she said I need to learn to do things on her own.' These words hit him hard but he didn't understand why. He figured she would have just gone home to her parents and figured he would talk to her calmly tomorrow about everything. Meanwhile dadi and Soumya were already making wedding plans.
The next day first thing in the morning Yuvraj goes to Suhani's house. He had to admit he was excited to see her and he wanted to explain he didn't want/mean to hurt her. He knocked on the door. Lataji opened the door on seeing Yuvraj her face sank. Yuvraj asked for Suhani and Lataji told him that she had left without meeting them and just left a letter. Lataji frustration could be heard in her voice. How could you leave your wife like that? You vowed and promised to take care of her and protect her and all this time you have been lusting over her best friend.' He had nothing really that he wanted to say to her at that point he wanted to find Suhani. Fear overtook Yuvraj, he read the letter that Suhani had left her parents basically saying she was fine and she just needed to time alone and she doesn't blame anyone for the events and it was kismat. He promised himself that day he would do everything in his power to find Suhani and make sure she was ok, he owed her that much.
He awoke at Soumya bouncing into the room and demanding he got out of bed and ready for the party as guests were already arriving. This was going to be a long night he thought to himself. Little did he know what surprises tomorrow would have in store for him.
