Why is it necessary to post every single IF article in the feeds/wall? It just takes up unnecessary space. Whoever wants to see articles can go on the main page anyway.

And also can we get locked threads back in my posts please? I am missing out on a lot of threads now because the locked threads just disappear and then i cant find the second one. I know about the show all threads filter at the bottom, but that just messes up the order of the threads instead of showing most recent ones. Its confusing. Please either fix that or show all threads by default in my posts like before. Thank you.

It’s absurd when someone blocks you, which means that they don’t want to interact with you anymore, and yet, they continue doing so by reacting, quoting and stalking your posts 🤷‍♀️ I have had pretty unpleasant experiences due to this.

I don’t understand the point of a one way block. If the blocked person gets harassed by someone who blocked them, they can’t even block them back!

This update is long pending 🙏 In the age of Internet trolling and bullying, please allow us to shut out toxic people and enjoy the site in peace.

I second this and as an addendum -

1. Blocking should mean the person is blocked from any interactions - i.e you shouldn't be able to see/quote/like their posts and vice versa.

2. This should also apply to the FF section. I don't want a person whom I've blocked (or who has blocked me) to follow my FFs or be able to comment on them.

3. Alternatively, it would help if the author has some control over their FF followers like having the option to remove a follower.

We are already working on this. The new changes would have the following:

a) Blocking both ways. Except the posts which are on Forums as one can easily see it without logging in also.

b) For FF section we can work on where user who have been blocked cannot comment on it.

c) We will also see that users who have been blocked will automatically be removed from Followers list.

We do not show each and every single article on the Feeds. It only show the articles of the celebs/shows you are following.

In that also once more members start posting on the feed you will see less of IF articles.

My Posts is a very expensive query and to reduce the database server load we came up with this solution. Yes I agree it can be little confusing. We would be revisiting this and see how we can improve this further.

In the six days since I posted here that I didn't choose to follow someone who had blocked me, no one told me that the "Update Library" button on a fan fiction's page means "Unfollow."

I figured it out by trying it on my own fan fictions, but when I wanted to unfollow LizzieBennet's fan fiction on which I had commented, I noticed that she had deleted her fan fiction with all of the comments.

I have never PM'ed this person, nor written anything on her profile. All of my communication with her has been out in the open, polite, and within forum guidelines. Our disagreement started when I commented that the insulting word "Dutch" was not needed in her character's line, "Dutch courage gathered through lavish imbibing of alcoholic drink." She dared me to report her story to the moderators (I didn't), or say that "British stiff upper lip" and "Indian hospitality" are racist expressions; I explained the racist history of "Indian giver;" she called me "relentless;" and I let it go. I have never commented on her as a person.

I respect that India Forums allows members to block each other's profiles for whatever reason, and if anyone wants to delete a fan fiction to get rid of comments, that's her prerogative. However, I enjoy sharing ideas with other members in the "Submit a Writing Prompt" thread that was started by LizzieBennet. It would be against forum guidelines to start multiple threads for this purpose, just because one member doesn't like another. The public forum has moderators to deal with actual harassment. So, I request that India Forums should not extend too many powers of censorship to individual members.

Can you please state your opinion/suggestion without mentioning specific names? I think examples can be explained quite easily even without citing specific people. All the people before you have done it that way.

Let's just keep it to X, Y, Z please. Otherwise it sounds an awful lot like a name-calling/blame game situation.

If you put a thread in "My Watched Topics" it stays even if it's locked. I hope that should help!

Hi,

Regarding the Follow issue that you have posted it was a recent change which helps writers retain their readers when they migrate to the new Fan Fiction section. If someone wants to unfollow they can easily do it through their profile.

By next week we are also making changes where Writers can also unfollow someone if they so wish so that this kind of issues don't occur.

Lastly I would suggest that since this is a site issue thread please avoid naming any member as this is for more generic issues and not a thread to discuss individual members. If there is something where I need more clarification I will definitely reach out myself.

For issues pertaining to a single member I would recommend please reach out the moderator of that forum. And for Fan Fiction section we have Fan Fiction Editors whom you can contact.

Regards,
Vijay
