Ranking System Queries-Post Here ONLY see pg9 - Page 5

We are waiting for a date when TRP will be brought into the ranking system as one of the parameter, stabilising the ranking system from subjective manipulations of Tellybuzz, Tellybuzz removal from the ranking.

Hey friends,

We had spoken to Vijay regarding the rank system suggestion questioning him on why he clicked "The Like" button on the main post of (Nafisa_blossoms). According to Vijay, by clicking the button does not mean his supporting the suggestion. He liked the way it was presented by (Nafisa_blossoms). Vijay said he did not post anything to say he approved the suggestions on removing TB as a parameter for the rank system.

TB does not post much news on Sundays besides the Television celebrity rank is counted on Tuesdays in order to give more time for Mondays, as India television airs daily from Monday to Friday. Therefore the weekends functions as buffer time.

TB at the moment trying to cover numbers of shows as possible and now I-F have got news agency like Ians and Vijay is trying to find more media outlets to make it more balanced.

TRPs are based on 6000 meter box so it doesn't cover up the entire population as we have millions of viewers so it does not reflect real viewership. Further more only rating from citizen living in India counts for TRP's. I-F is trying to include Indians living aboard including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka's into this as well.

Hope the clarification above is well understood. IF is trying its very best to get the ranking system more balanced in every way. If you still have doubts or questions, please feel free to post them here and Vijay will try to get back to questions as soon as possible once he is back from holiday:)

We would like to clarify one point with him that is the Frequently Asked Questions section after the rankings every week, on there Vijay mentions the following.

"From time to time we would be optimizing our weightage system and will add more parameters to make this ranking system more better. We are even working on a way to add Show TRP points also as one of the various parameters in determining the popularity of the actor for the week."

Therefore what we are asking for is being worked on by Vijay as it's says so at the bottom of the weekly ranking report, so now I am feeling a bit confused at the mixed messages I am getting, the ranking report as I've explained gives notice that TRP will be a ranking parameter in the future, Vijay clicks "LIKE" on my post suggesting Tellybuzz is removed as a parameter and TRP given weightage like Buzz points (becoming one of the parameters as it's more stable), then this response today, saying TRP is not an adequate measure of viewership...isn't it the only measure? All external news outlets rate serials by their TRP's, TAM/TVR, and I keep going back to that message at the bottom of the weekly rankings that TRP points will also be a parameter.

I don't like mixed messages. I would like to hear from Vijay on these points I have raised today.

If TRP's cannot be relied upon as it is based on "6000 meter box" then in the same way Tellybuzz articles are unfair because some shows have tellybuzz articles and other shows don't. Some shows even get several a week whilst others get none. This is unfair too. Therefore the show rankings and cast member rankings do not reflect the true popularity as voted for by the users of India Forums.

Maybe a simple solution for the time being is to remove Telly Buzz weightage from the calculation until IF can guarantee all shows will be given an equal number of articles. This would create a level playing ground. At the moment I feel that some shows are being shown favouritism which is unfair.

defi agree with nafisa...coz of few serials get 2 articles in one week and others wont get any...like sandy says there should be equal number of articles for the show...

i agree with nafisa and sandyuk... including the TB articles in ranking system does not make the ranking system fair... there are many shows and artists for which there is hardly any TB article...

if you still want to include TB articles for ranking then please make sure that each show has fixed number of TB articles over a time period

First of all Buzz point allocation is around 7% for the total Chaska Meter points table. So its not the major decisive factor.

And then Buzz has been included as one of the parameter for the following reason:

a) Popularity of the show does gets impacted on the amount of work a channel does on its Marketing / PR. And how much their team is working towards making sure that their show is covered in most of the media outlets which will get them new eyeballs or keeping higher recall value.

b) Buzz also gets to measure the kind of response it gets through our readers. For example if an article about a show gets less views and less comments it will get less points compared to an article which gets more views and comments. So even if TB publishes a story about a less known show it wont help its Chaska Meter points much until its really get a good response.

So we beleive that buzz should be one of the parameter in our Chaska Meter.

However I would like to add that I understand the point where it can be said that we do not cover all the shows but at the same time it can be said that the channels PR team is not working hard enough to ensure that it gets good visibility in different media outlets.

TellyBuzz does the most number of stories on Television (Hindi) across all media outlets. And to further our content spectrum we do have content feeds from other news agencies like IANS so that we get to cover most of the stories coming in the media.

We do take your criticism positively and will work on further improving the ranking system.
