I have been in the receiving end of some sexually explicit PM's this week from new members.I go with the suggestion that no new memeber should be allowed to PM unless they cross a certain period of time. if thats not possible atleast we should have a privacy setting where we can disable PM's outside of our friends list.

And I dont understand why more than 1 id is allowed per IP address. Can you not automatically ban the 2nd ID from an IP address as a rule?

I agree. Siblings/relatives do share the same IP address. It would be unfair for such genuine members.
But putting a rule 'this much number of posts after you can pm' would be better.
Like 75 or 100, because a MID can make 50 posts but not more than that unless and until he's desperate to bash the other member.

Pragya, IP addresses are a very vague way of determining someone's ID...like people living in the same apartment complex or using a school library can all have the same computer IP address even though they are all on different computers so if you only allow 1 IP per member, then there are a whole bunch of other people can't be able to use the site (like siblings for example)

A time period could work, except I would think genuine newbies would need to use the pm function if they don't understand how this forum works😆...50 posts seem like a stable number, but there was recently an MID the other day that managed to rack up at least 60+ posts before they were finally banned...sooo maybe less would be better?

Okay simple solution..

when you get someone's pm and u dont know that member, then first check his/her profile... and if the no of post are zero, then there is no need to read that pm, just ignore it.. this would discourage the sender that his abusive pms are not being read..

a newbie with 0 post, cannot pm anyone just to say.. hey, I m new.. well come me..
