Dance, music, sensitive moments from real life, joys, celebrations, disappointment and tears, all formed a part of the recently concluded Nach Baliye on Star One. With Sachin and Supriya becoming the champs for the first season, we thought we'd ask some other real life couples whether they would be game for participating in a second season of the show. Shweta Kawatra and Manav Gohil: "It's a really good concept and was never tried in India before so we would surely participate. My favourite couple was Sachin and Supriya. Everyone else was young but it really takes courage to take part in such a hectic routine at that age. Though I didn't follow the show regularly, I feel the show brings a refreshing change to television. The judges were appropriate too," says Shweta. Yash Tonk and Gauri Singh: Says Yash, "I don't mind participating if I'm able to allot the dates for it. The kind of popularity that the show has got is phenomenal. The actors get a chance to dance, enjoy and work at the same time; it's like a complete workout! The judges are certainly doing a great job and the show is something different from the ones being shown on television nowadays. The expectations for the second season will be very high." Agrees Gauri, "Why not? We will certainly participate. I'm a fitness freak and love dancing too, so it will be an interesting show to take part in. Nach Baliye was the first show where we saw the chemistry and dancing skills of couples. My favourite was Sachin and Supriya, I even voted for them and was happy to see them win. We actually hurried home to catch the last episode! The only change I would like to see in the second season is more time being given for rehearsals since actors have other commitments too. It's difficult to shoot and rehearse at the same time." Sharad Kelkar and Kirti Gaekwad: "I would definitely participate if given the chance. It'll be a nice show to do, moreover because the audience knows me as Rudra from Sindoor Tere Naam Ka. So people will get to know the real Sharad. The main thing about Nach Baliye that appealed to me was the behind-the-scenes part and the rehearsals that were shown on television. So people know the hard work that goes into every performance. The judges are fine people too. Farhan knows about screen presence, Sarojji is obviously one of the best choreographers around and Malaika is all about class and elegance. The combination is well balanced," says Sharad. Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan: Says Hiten, "We were given the offer for Nach Baliye but couldn't say 'yes' because we were tied up with other commitments. The concept of real life couples competing amongst each other is what appealed to me. Another good thing about the show is that people know you by your real name instead of the character you play in serials. I couldn't watch a single episode but people have been telling me that Sachin and Supriya were very good. Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj : "Actually, we were offered Nach Baliye but couldn't sign on the dotted line for it due to prior commitments. I had a stage show to do in the US and couldn't back out at the last minute. But for the second season, we will surely sign up. The fact that the show is all about dancing really appealed to me and both Arjun and I are fond of dancing. The concept of the show is amazing. I was glued to it and from day one I knew that Sachin and Supriya would win, but Rajeshwari and Varun also put up good performances. It was a classy show," says Gurdeep. Kiran Karmarkar and Rinku Karmarkar: "I haven't thought about it, maybe I would be game for participating in the second season. For the first time, a reality show seemed real. Nach Baliye was a test of skills. It was a competition among professionals who know dance, acting and have no stage fear. In that sense, it was a really tough competition. It was a refreshing change that didn't show raw participants taking part and getting eliminated. Though I didn't really follow the show properly, my favourite were Sachin and Supriya," says Kiran. | Saturday, August 19, 2006 | Nach Baliye back with a bang | | | Star One's Nach Baliye is back and this time it's not dwitiya but its "2".
