actually...coz of the rains here....the net connection was down since last nite....so i couldnt log in....
well....sammie.....
the file are a winamp media files...whch i am recordin from the zenith tv........ the problem is....a one hour episode is almost 1.8 GB in size..... so i recorded the episode in parts...whre each part is 8-10 minutes and the size of each file is about 250-300 MB....it is absolutely impossible to upoad such a file since the transfer rate given by the site www.megaupload.com is around 4kb pr sec..... so accordingle...it takes about 5 mins for 1 mb to upload.... till now...i have been uploadin small files of 20 mb etc....which last for about 30 seconds....and this uploadin takes me about one and a half hour.....
sofia told me about zippin and compressin....well that helped....... the last scene of the episode#28....where aryan praises deepika....is 1 minute and 12 seconds...this scene ws actually 55 MB in size....but after i zipped and compressed it....the file size is now 41 MB....so i must say it helped greatly....but even then....given the transfer rate....its takin 3 hours to upload this one minute file....
what iwant to ask u is.....do u know of a method that can help to drastically reduce the file size..... and do u know of any faster sites......much much faster i mean....
coz now i am free as it is my vacations.....but once classes start...and im givin my 12th boards this yr.....i will not be allowed so much time on the comp.. 😭 ..if i can get a faster and better method....im sure all on this forum will be grateful!

yeah sammie...please do help her out as far as possible...and this problem is also one of a kind...since i've downloaded loads of videos before, but even the 45 minute long videos were NEVER above 40MB in size!!! 😕 i downloaded many of the Indian Idol 2 episodes in their entirety, and all of them are in the range of 35 to 40MB...! so there has to be some solution to all this...please help us out! 😊

i tried to guide her some though, but the big file problem lies in faulty recording and i am sure abt that.

so reshma has to attend that problem first.

u know my problems sofia dear......i don think my dad will agree to gettin an engineer for that....firstly...he is such a busy man tht he comes home so late.....many a times...after i am asleep and goes to work b4 i have woken up.....due to this....i dont see much of him....or speak to him much....and hence....my dad and i dont share a very good rapport.....its not like im papa's girl or something..... so even if i told him abt this....he wouldnt have time to address it....and if the problem was with recordin...he would just fire me as he doesnt even know i am recordin the episodes.....thats why im tryin to get blank cds and make hard copies of all the episodes....
and isiliye the only place i can seek help from is the forum....as all the ppl i know have no experience recordin videos.....even though i wrote to many members of other forums who frequently upload videos....i got only one reply....and that too this person told me s/he has his/her exams....so cant help me.....others i havent heard from them till now......

(as far as i know, sorry if i'm wrong , hav a poor knowledge yaar 😆 )

well back to actual topic...

am telling u to totally change the file format
make it '.wmv'

use windows movie maker( if u r using windows xp operating system, it comes free with it, otherwise u can download it i guess)

total file size will reduce may be more than 90%
sometimes it gives more than 99% size reduction
(and u can apply the compression technique of zipping even after that to make it more compressed)

(quality of video may reduce a little bit, but not much, trust me)
