Smiling and happy Mrs. Malhotra went off to inform Mrs. Naik that it was time to bring Neha down!😛

Vishal: (Greeting the Commissioner's wife) Welcome mam… Please come in!

The officials around smiled and took the Commissioner and his wife in….

Commissioner: (Seeing the empty stage) Ajay aur Neha kahan hain?

Aryan: Sir… Abhi aate hi honge… Just any moment now…

As on cue the music played… The music they had all decided on to play when Ajay and Neha would come in…

As if everyone around felt the change, a silence fell around the place…. The lights were dimmed… And two spot lights shown brightly…..

One spot light rove around the first floor and one spotlight was stand still outside the room down on the ground floor… A moment later the door opened and Mrs. Desai came out all smiles…

She turned a little sideways as Ajay came behind her… Seeing him claps thundered around the room as wishes flew from his friends standing around….

Ajay came forward welcoming everyone around, smiling, hugging and shaking hands…. Seeing Aryan standing with the Commissioner he went forward to greet him….

Commissioner: Congratulations Ajay!

Ajay: (Shaking hands) Thank you sir!😊

Vishal: (Interjecting politely, with a hint of humor) Ajay! Yaar wishes kabhi bhi le sakte ho… Lekin is wish ki better half agar yahan nahi hogi to is wish ka kya faida?😉

As Ajay blankly blinked at Vishal turned him around and indicated the stairs…. The roving spotlight in the first floor had to come to stand still outside the room…. Where standing were Neha and Mrs. Naik….😳

Catching Neha's hand Mrs. Naik led her to the top of the stairs…

Seeing her Ajay's face split into a smile automatically…. Was it even needed to say she was looking gorgeous… Beyond what he had compared…. He went forwards himself eyes set on her… Only on her!

From the above Neha had seen Ajay… Wasn't so difficult to spot him…. Was it!??! The spot light trained on him… Him so handsomely dressed…. She now fully knew why she had gone bonkers on him…. Seeing him come she lowered her eyes blushing, the smile refusing to leave her face, even though she knew people were watching all around….😳

Climbing the stairs Ajay reached the wide landing separation just as Neha too came down…. He looked at her from top to bottom mesmerized and smiled…. He put out his right hand and Neha with no more hesitation placed her left hand on his… Pulling her slightly close Ajay kissed a surprised on her cheeks… Blushing she looked at him stunned while the hall below thundered with 'Wow's…. 'Awww's… 'Super's…. And of course claps!😳

The lights came on….

Ajay led Neha down the stairs to the raised platform as Mrs. Naik looked on at both of them from the stairs… Mrs. Desai about to go on the stage saw Mrs. Naik standing there and went over towards her….

Mrs. Desai: Are…. Aap yahan kya kar raheen hain? Neeche chaliye... Mujhe apne samdhan ko sabse introduce karvana hai!😊

Mrs. Naik: (Looked at her with wistful eyes😭) Thank you!

Mrs. Desai: Thank you!?!?? (Smiling) Thank you to mujhe aapko kehena chahiye…. (Looking at the stage where Ajay and Neha were already giving poses for the camera) Inki jodi to humne nahi banayi… Khud ban gaya, lekin sahi bana hai… Aur Neha se main bahut khush hoon…. Modern hai lekin sanskari bhi… Aur vo… (Looking at Mrs. Naik) Uski neev aap hi se to aayi hai! Bas aap fikar mat kijiye…. Meri beti banke mere ghar me rahegi! Ab chaliye…

Saying Mrs. Desai took Mrs. Naik's hands and led her down to the stage!

As the photography session was going on… With Ajay and Neha…. With their mothers…. With his friends…. DJ Naveen announced….

DJ: Guests ke wishes ke pehle… Aaj ki ye raat… Haseen…. Khoobsurat raat ki ye party hum shuru karna chahenge, humare newly wed couple ke dance se!

At this everyone cheered and clapped as the DJ continued…👏

DJ: Aur ye song unke saare dost, from Special Squad unke liye dedicate kar rahe hain… So please… Ajay… Neha! Thodi der baad sab couples bhi join kar sakte hain!

Ajay and Neha looked surprised at Aryan, Zubin, Shotgun, Boxer who clapping smiled and nodded their agreement…. As music played….

The music came on as Ajay's hands wrapped around hers and they started to sway to the music…

Both of them knew why their friends has wanted them to dance for this particular song…

Ajay and Neha's relationship was not a smooth one….

First and foremost the realization that they loved each other never came out like usual lovers… It was an accident… And accident that had now ended good… But still… There were no proposals… No love declaration…. No "I love you and will wait for you reply"… No sleepless nights thinking of what reply to give!🤔

Looking into her eyes Ajay knew she was also thinking along the same lines….

Both of them vividly remembered the moment when Neha had blurted out that she had loved him…. It had come as a shock for him, none less for her too… As she had not planned it out this way….

Their relationship tirades flashed in front of their eyes very clear…. He wasn't even serious talking to her…. He was talking over the phone, when Neha had spilled her heart out….

He was confused…. He didn't understand then what had made a girl like Neha fall for him!!!!! It was not like he didn't like her.... But he was afraid whether he was capable of fulfilling such a commitment... But somehow Neha's feelings had pointed him out that he was a man…. A man capable of been loved… And when man was capable of been loved then it is true the other way round too that he was capable of giving love!❤️

When you had the girl of your dreams in your arms…. Content and happiness soared in your heart and this exactly was his state…. His one unintended mistake of the past, beoming the present had literally ripped him off his life… He had actually lost her!

Many times before he had talked to girls… Some had responded… Some had rejected…. His playfulness had never cracked him so much as did her slap… The first time ever… And he knew it was the last time…. Because she was not even ready to look at him!

For the first time ever Ajay Desai, Casanova Suri had lost… Lost his life…. How much he had hated those days and the events which led to it…. He decided to get immersed into work, but it had only worsened his state because she was always around….

There was a time when he had even thought of leaving Special Squad…. Because the pain of rejection… Pain of seperation was getting unbearable…. But how could he leave just like that?!!? Neha was his life…. But his friends, buddies were all the reason he was there here today, where he was… He couldn't leave them…. So finally he decided on taking a break from office to compose himself…. Pull himself together…. He had just managed to get himself straight!😳

And now seeing her in front of him like this… He never wanted to lose her again!!! Protectively he left her hand and wrapped them around her, bringing her closer….

She looked at him surprised a little but understood his action… She too wrapped her hands around his neck… Bodies touching, face closer to each other, only looking into those love filled eyes, both silently swayed to the music…. But neither heard the music, nor was aware of the surrounding…. Content in each other's arms… They life story flashed around them again….🤔

She remembered how close she had come to losing him.... Then she wasn't even aware she loved him… When the police had arrested him she had fought for him… Searching for tiny clues that would save him…. Bring him back to her… That moment…. That incident made her realize that her feelings for the man in front of her were more than just been colleagues…. Oh… That day…. She had literally felt the world slipping out of her hands… If that day anything really had happened she didn't know what she would have done….😕

That day's fear again creeped into her again now and involuntarily she rested her head on his chest and smiled when she heard his heat beat…. She felt secure, protected with him around…. He definitely was there with her! She closed her eyes, a tear flowing down her cheeks as she smiled feeling his hands tighten around her….

People who knew them and their relationship very well knew what Ajay and Neha were feeling right now…. Struggles and rejections, love and hate, agreement and dis-agreements….. Promises were made… Promises were broken… They had found each other…. Lost each other…. But found each other again… As they say… All's well that ends well… Nothing was wrong because now everything was right!😳

All around lightly swayed to the music clasping the hands of their dear ones besides them… Seeing such a loveable couple any couple, who had dis agreements between them would definitely forget it…👍🏼

Aryan smiled looking at Ajay and Neha, so close and comforted felt very happy…. He had seen their relationship blossom from nothing to everything…. Seen them fight… Seen them hate…. Seen them love.... So he very well understood how they must feel right now…. And had he also not passed through these phases… Even though there had not yet been such a thing as love…. He paused his thinking… Breaking halt to whatever he was thinking… He had just thought…. Love?!?!? Not even in his dreams he had thought so much about it…. Something had always held back him in thinking about this…. But today?!? What was happening!? No hesitation… No thinking… No…. He sighed… Her?😔

He again looked up towards the door…. Neha had also come, but she hadn't…. Will she come?!?!? Another thought struck him… Was she not feeling so well to come here? What must have happened? But if it was so, someone would have told him…. Him!?!?? Why should they have told him? At the least he would have heard someone talking about it…. He looked around and saw Vishal standing with Aadhya smiling, looking at Ajay and Neha…. 🤔

He must at least know about it…. Just as he debated on whether to go he felt something….. He turned around and there she was….😲 😳

The dim light on the stairs made her look like a dazzling beauty in black…. Like a star in the night… Her face so serene and shining!

She was delayed because she was helping Neha get ready… Then she had to finish getting ready herself…. But from the moment she had started to get ready her thoughts always stayed with him…. Will he like it?!?! Would he be impressed? And she was surprised that Dipika Gosh for the first time in her life had felt and cared so much about what a man thinks! She had smiled seeing herself in the mirror!😳

Coming to the landing she saw Ajay and Neha locked with each other forgetting the world around…. She stopped there not wanting to disturb that moment of feeling around…. Smiling a little she let her gaze wander around… But those eyes didn't travel far as they immediately fell on his silhoute…. Even in the dim light she could very well see that he was looking at her…. 😍

As they gazes locked and eyes spoke the light around them darkened further and they could only sense and see each other…. Oh how much she wanted to pull down her gaze… Something in his gaze was making her heart soar!☺️

A music ringing in her ears!

A blinding flash of light and she had to shield her eyes…. After a moment she put her hand and realized that the lights had come on… Since she had been looking on at him without the blink of an eye, when the lights came on suddenly she had to cover her eyes….😊

And the music… She smiled realizing again that it was indeed music… Clapping music…. People around applauding for the newly and congratulating them…. As Ajay and Neha walked back to the raised stage she sweeped her eyes back to him… But…😔

Well he had his back turned around talking to Mr. Shinde, the Assistant Commissioner…. A little disappointed she started to go down when she felt someone behind her… Mildly surprised she turned around and saw Vishal standing besides her, a step back looking away from her but with a cheeky expression… She knew very well he had been here for long and had seen her looking at him!

Dipika: Tum kab aaye?❓

Vishal: (Still not looking at her) Kab ka! (Rolling his tongue inside his mouth) Jab tum busily use dekh rahi thi! Disturb nahi karna chahatha… Isliye chup tha! (Looking at her sideways) Agar aapki (Fluttering his eyes🤪) nain matakka ho gaya ho to…. Shall we…

Saying he kept he angled his left hand for her to hook….

Dipika hit him lightly on his arm and then smiling hooked her arm in his… Before leading her down the stairs he hugged her lightly and kissing on her cheek said….

Vishal: Looking very beautiful!

Dipika: (Blushing a little😳) Thank you! Tum bhi!

Vishal: (Shocked😲) WHAT!!?? Beautiful?

Dipika: (Smiling) Vishal! Handsome!

Vishal: (Casually) Ah yes.... Of course… I am always handsome… Isi wajah se tum par bhi iska asar ho raha hai!

Dipika: (Shaking her head at his cheekiness) Vishal….

Vishal: (Promptly) The great!

Dipika: (Chuckling😆) Yes Mr. Great... Chalein?

Vishal: (Spreading out his right hand in front of them) Yes please!

Smiling together they made way down to the party!😊

Black, the color of authority…. The color of seriousness…. The color that was conventional…. Color black can be mysterious…. Sophisticated….. Sexy…. Elegance…. ⭐️

A material is said to be black if most incoming light is absorbed equally in the material….. Black, can make a room appear to shrink in size and even a well-lit room looks dark with a lot of black……. Black makes other colors appear brighter…..👍🏼

That was how she was….. Absorbing everyone in her…. Speaking to everyone…. Enjoying….Blending…. Laughing…..

Black…. The ultimate dark color….

And he was seeing his ultimate across the room…. Talking, laughing with Vishal and the other police officials from the department…. 😳

The moment his eyes set on her first time for the evening he had lost it…. Lost it all…. 🤪Where he was? Why he was? Who he was? He had never imagined that Aryan Khanna, ACP, Special Squad would land in such a state any day!

He had never seen Dipika Gosh so social…. Of course this was the first real party where he was ever seeing her like this…. But it had never even occurred to him to think of her in such a social gathering.... Amongst such varying crowd, from office colleaugues, to friends to relatives….. It was true he had never imagined her like this…. She was always 'THE BOSS' at office… He smiled thinking of her strict authority at office…. She had to be like that with such a haywire team to handle…. 😉 He knew that somewhere, if she had not been with the team…. They would have been in many problems! Many.... Where Special Squad not only losing its credibility, but the present team would have been dissolved!

He had felt a twinge of jealousy when Vishal led Dipika down to the party, hands hooked…. And when he had looked around he noticed all eyes set on that couple…. Especially her…. She really was the 'show stopper' of the evening, like Mrs. Iqbal had said…. 😍 Why not!?!? She was one of the eligible bachelors in the city…. Good looks…. Good profession…. Good character…. This made him wonder? Why was Dipika not married till now!?!? It couldn't be like no alliance had not ever come her way … And in an instant the answer came to him…. Sri…. Srishti must be the only reason marriage was not on her agenda…. She had not married!🤔

He let the thoughts slip as it was none of his business to think about her like that…. It was her personal…. Her personal!??!? Almost immediately another voice asked him…. Was it really none of his business??!?!? Was her personal different from his?😳

Before his thoughts could debate on this he heard his colleagues's voice and forced himself back into the conversation… But his eyes and heart stealing glances at her!☺️

Dipika: (Laughing😆) Vishal…. Please stop…. Itna jokes sunaoge to main…

Vishal: (Incredulously😲) Jokes suna raha hoon!?!? I was saying my life time achievements!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haseena: (Giggling) Haan aur vo bhi monkeys se bachne ke liye!?!?

Cynthia: (Laughing) Lekin aapko nahi pata tha ki monkeys ko bhi ped chadna aata hai!?

Vishal: (Casually😃) Yeah now… Jab sou bandarein tumhara peecha kar rahein ho, to unka ped chadna kya…. Aap to ye bhi bhool jaoge ki aapko ped chadna nahi aata!

Dipika: (Shocked😲) Kya!?!? Tumhe ped chadna nahi aata!??

Vishal: Haan…. Nahi aata tha… Ab jo seekh gaya hoon…. Yaar college ka first year tha… Isliye impression jamane us monkey ko bhagaya jisne us ladki ki purse ko uthake bhaaga tha! Kya pata tha ki poora ka poora Bandar Brigade mujhe yaad rakhke mera peecha karega!

Cynthia: (Laughing again😆) Ban…. Ban… Bandar brigade?!?!?

Dipika: Haan…. Aur janab ke ped me chadne ke baad yaad aaya ki bandar bhi ped chad sakte hain?

Vishal: (Grinning sheepishly😃) Yeah…. Aur phir to poocho mat…. Aas paas… Upar neeche jahan dekho…. Bandar hi Bandar….

Purvi: (Gasping for breath) Phir…. Phir kya hua?

Vishal: Shukar hai…. College ka watchman aur kuch boys aaye… Sticks aur drums se un sab ko bhaga diya…. Dus din tak bandar hi sapne me aate rahe!

Haseena: (Chuckling😆) Haan… Aur jis ladki ko vo impress karne ke liye Bandar se lade, vo to inki taraf dekhi bhi nahi!

Seeing Vishal's ever-so unhappy face the girls laughed and said "Awwww"😆

Haseena: Tch… Tab ek ladki nahi dekhi to kya hua Sir? Ab to sab aapke jhalak dekhne ke liye yahan sab bechain hain! Dekhiye!

Dipika: (Thinking about something) Waise… Mujhe lagta hai ki un monkeys ka revenge abhi tak khatam hi nahi hua!

Cynthia: (Looking at her surprised🤔) Kya??!? Lekin…

Dipika pulled her closer and whispered something in her ears…. Hearing it Cynthia looked at Vishal and nodding giggled…. While sitting across from them, he looked at the girls wondering what they were whispering Dipika shared her idea with Purvi and Cynthia with Haseena…. All the girls looked at each other and him and giggled while he looked on at them suspiciously….😈

Vishal: Hey wait wait…. Kya khusur phusar ho raha hai!?!?? (As they giggled more) Bolo… Abhi ke abbhi bolo… Kya kaha Dipika ne!??!? Mere hi khilaaf saazish….

Dipika: Saazish vaazish kuch nahi Vishal… (Glancing at Cynthia and the others who was frantically shaking her head😃) Er…. Main bas yahi keh rahi thi… Ki un monkeys ka revenge shayad abhi tak khatam naa hua ho…. Kyun ki… (Chuckling) You know… Nakchadi bandariya!

Hearing it Vishal looked around flustered while Dipika smiling knowingly said…. 😳

Dipika: (Catching his face to make him look at them) Ah ah…. Yahan nahi hai vo…. Bas keh rahi thi… Ki tumhari kismat me monkeys ka strong (Punching on his arms😃) connection hai! Jahan bhi jao… Chodne waale nahi… (Pausing) Ya phir… Chodne waali nahi!

Understanding very well what she was saying…. Not about monkeys any more…. But about her been in his life… Vishal just looked on at her... Now if she can hook him up.... He can ery well definitely do do! 😉

Smiling back at her with the same triumphant smile he gave her he said….

Vishal: Oh yeah… Monkeys are always part of everyone's life… Dil ko bhi usi se compare karte hain naa! Ek jagah par nahi rukta…. Ek jagah par nahi tikta…. Lagta hoga ki ek jagah par hai, lekin aankh, kaan to kaheen aur hota hai…. Jaise kehte hain baatein yahan nazar kaheen aur!😉

Dipika raised her eyebrows at him glaring back at him…😲 She very well knew he was hinting at her…. 😳 Her frequent glances at him…😍

Both knew not why…. But today…. There was an unexplainable pull between them… It seemed that the years of resistance had finally worn off…. Nothing to hold them back… No thoughts of the past…. No thoughts for the future…. Just the present…. The moment…. They felt very much drawn towards each other…. But still their legs failed them…. So much they wanted to walk towards each other… Other's presence around them made them self conscious…. A resistance they very well wanted to break!!!!!!!!!!!!!😳

Dipika came out of her thoughts when she saw someone call out to her…. She looked around and finally in front of her… A guy was asking for her a dance….

She looked at him and at Vishal who shrugged his shoulders and nodded a yes…. Smiling she accepted the guys' extended hand and joined him in the dance floor…. Seeing them dance Vishal didn't immediately hesitate to look at Aryan…. Wow…. Now that was exactly the look he wanted to see on his face…. 😃 Impressive…. 👏 He specifically had restrained from dancing with Dipika because he knew…. Him dancing with her wouldn't have brought out the effect as it was now…. Sssss…. There must be some way to make him very more insecure…. Thinking he brightened at his idea and turning to look at Purvi said….

Vishal: Ae… Purvi… Chalo dance karte hain!

Purvi: (Surprised) Ji!?!?

Vishal: (Standing up) Dekho ab Zubin tumhe directly dance ke liye poochne se raha…. You know him very well… Aur itne achche party me bina dance kiye rehenaa…. Not nice! So come on!

Saying he extending his hand towards her in encouragement… Smiling she nodded and both of them made way to the dance floor…. Before going Vishal noticed Cynthia smile feebly at them go and give a glance towards Shotgun…. Shaking his head Vishal smiled thinking "I guess playing cupid is my duty tonight!"😉 😆

On the way to the dance floor, he passed by Shotgun…. Stopping for a moment…

Vishal: I think you must dance…. (Glancing at Cynthia) Ask and then dance!

Shotgun looked at him go in surprise wondering what he had said…. 🤔 Casually looking back where he had seen he saw Cynthia and the truth hit him… Oops…😵 How could he have been so stupid…. He had forgotten… He smiled thinking that in fact it was ages they had danced… So he never even remembered now to ask her for a dance….

Trying to make up for everything he made way to her table and extended his hand silently….

Cynthia looked at him surprised and smiling back said….

Cynthia: Laga ki poochoge hi nahi!😳

Shotgun: (Nodding) Poochne ko such me bhool hi gaya tha… Relive old times?

Cynthia looked on at him thinking back their time in London…. The time they had always spent together…. All weekends were dates…. Neither had she missed nor he…. But somewhere down the line that magic was lost… Life and life issues had misled them…. But now…. Coming out of her thoughts she took a satisfied breath and gave her hand to him… And both of them made way to the dance floor!❤️

Everyone on the dance floor was awesome and great….. Enjoying and dancing….. With whomsoever they wanted…. But what Vishal noticed was all the handsome men in the room wanted a dance with Dipika…. Well... He made sure Dipika never left the dance floor.... Pairing her with someone or the other... And so for one phrase in a song her partners changed, except for that?!?!!? He shook his head in frustration…. He had clealy seen that dislike on his face seeing Dipika dance with the others…. He didn't like it…. So why didn't he come forward and well you know…. Stop it…. 😳

In this Zubin was way way ahead of him…. 😃 The moment he had started to dance with Purvi…. Even before the first song was over he had come over and asked to dance with her…. Now such a gesture from Zubin had even surprised Purvi…. But well…. He could do it, then why not Aryan!!!?!?😕

Why do they seem so far even after they were close by hearts??? There didn't seem anything more a problem or issue between them…. A slight hesitation?!? Hmm… 🤔Something had to be done…. Vishal Malhotra....

Vishal: (Aloud) Something definitely had to be done….

Aadhya: Ji!??!❓

Vishal: (Looking at her) Oh… Kuch nahi…. Bas kuch soch raha tha to bol gaya!

Dipika: Well… Agar tum abhi nahi gaye, to shayad koi kuch zyada hi bol dega!

Vishal stopped dancing with Aadhya and looked around at Dipika glaring at him…. 😡

Dipika: (To Aadhya) Er…. Aadhya hume ek minute excuse karna please!

Saying she led Vishal off the dance floor near the stairs.....

Dipika: (Hissing) Kya kar rahe ho abhi tak yahan? Der nahi hui kya?

Vishal: (As if puzzled) Kya!?!?? Kahan jaana ha mujhe? Tumne mujhe kaha tha kaheen jaane ko? (As Dipika glared at him even more, he hit his head lightly as if finally understanding) Aww…. Yaar main bhool gaya…. Very bad Vishal….. Very very bad…. Dipika Gosh ne kuch kaha aur….

Hitting him hard on his shoulder, really hard making him wince fuming she said….😵

Dipika: Don't act innocent Vishal…. Tumhe very well pata hai main kya keh rahi hoon… Jao abhi… Thodi der me tumhare performance ki announcement karvane waali hoon…. Tumhe ready nahi hona?

Vishal: (As if remembering) Oh…. Vo….. (Irritated) Do I really need to do it!?!? I mean…. (Looking around) Abhi itne logon ke saamne…. Maine maan to liya Dipi….

Dipika: (Folding her arms across her chest glared at him) Mujhe kya? Mat dance karo… Lekin koi hai jisne jee jaan se is ke liye mehnat ki hai…. Vo to bechari kab ka ready hue upar wait kar rahi hai…. You want… You do… Else! Hmpf !

Saying Dipika turned around and walked off towards the DJ platform…. Half way through she turned around and saw that Vishal was making his way to his room…. She smiled…. 😳 She knew he was just faking his disapproval…. She had seen them practice… Once only maybe…. But she had seen the passion it held…. Sandhya had complained that he was not taking anything seriously… Nor the performance nor the emotions that goes with it…. And she was not sure how much captivating the performance was going to be!?!?!? But Dipika knew this one was going to be the best performance till date anyone had seen…. She knew her friend very much… He would never do anything to disappoint anyone…. So how could he upset the lady he loved so much!😊

Taking a deep breath she turned around to go to the DJ to instruct him about the performance, when she caught her breath... Standing directly across was Aryan standing talking to Mr. Malhotra…. She stood rooted to the spot looking at him…. Ages she could stand thus…. Just looking at him…. 😍 He was very lively today… Happy…. Enthused…. 😛 The way she had always wanted him to be…. She immediately averted her eyes when he turned around…. Composing herself she made her way to the DJ platform!😳

The room went dim as the DJ announced…..

"Ladies and gentlemen…. A special day accounts for specials in all ways…. Food…. Chief Guests, our newly wed couple….. Special guests, you all... And to add to this how would a special performance?!?!? Dance performance be?"

At this there a cheer went amongst the group as the guests clapped…. Meanwhile few guests also noticed that some girls were requesting them to make space in the center of the hall…. Maybe for the performance….👏

As Sandhya's friends made space free for the dance, Mithra was talking to the light man…. On whom and where to angle the spotlights….

Seeing all the arrangements going on wonderfully Dipika smiled…. She knew this was going to be a hit performance…. She was standing beside Neha on the platform giving her company….. Hearing the DJ announcement Neha pulled Dipika down and whispered….

Neha: Wahi performance naa? Sand….

Dipika squeezed her hand in response and nodded…. Straightening she saw Aryan standing at the other end of the hall with Mrs. Malhotra…. Her heart gave the similar bump she had felt the whole day watching him…. 😳 When he turned and his eyes fell on her she immediately looked down at Neha… She could not hold on to his sight…. She knew… Something very very strange was happening to her as the night wore on…. Something was going to happen…. Something unexplainable… Her heart knew it!❤️

She pulled herself out of the thoughts as DJ Naveen continued….

"Here's a very special performance from very two special people for the very two special people!"

Saying the DJ clapped and the guests too taking his cue….👏

The room went darker with no lights on….. Not even the night lamps on the stairs….

The DJ was expected to look up at the stairs and just before the lights went down he was given thumbs up by someone from there and the room was flooded with the music of one of the most romantic number the year had heard….❤️

Everyone applauded as they recognized the song and turned their heads to see the performers…. Where were they?!?!?❓

A spotlight suddenly came on at the center of the hall and everyone turned their attention to find a man dressed in the attire kneeling down in a position usually taken up by runners when they prepare for a marathon….

When the man raised his head everyone applauded more seeing that it was Vishal! 😛

He stood up in a perfect straight posture, head down and hands by his side….

Guests and others weren't as surprised as was the SS team……. Everyone looked at each other in awe and surprise….. Vishal dancing for this song!?!??? Then…..😉

Mrs. Malhotra had to muffle a surprised gasp as she looked on stunned at her even more stunned husband….

Mrs. Malhotra: Ji Vishal!

Mr. Malhotra nodded dazed and looked around…. Then looking down at his wife asked….

Mrs. Malhotra: Agar ye is gaane ke liye naach raha hai, to iske saath…

As if to answer his question…..

As the female voice came on another spot light came to life lighting somewhere at the other end of the room… Heads turned that way as a girl stood up her back to the audience….

She turned around hands in front of her as the crowd parted to make way from the place she stood to the center….⭐️

Vishal lifted his head a look that very well conveyed, the eyes wanted to see one and only its love just as she put down her hands to her side eyes still closed…. But a warm smile lighting her face….

The guests who knew Sandhya applauded even more for her entry….👏

Seeing Vishal and Sandhya to dance Mrs. Malhotra smiled… Smiled as if she hadn't for years…. Somehow the mother's heart felt very very happy to see her son and her_____ She smiled thinking the word that would fill the blank…. 👍🏼

Vishal had to steady himself in that posture…. Control his racing heart… He felt he would forget his steps seeing Sandhya… They had practiced for the past two days but he had never seen her so angelic before… And wearing the dress she was looking gorgeous…. Princess... Nothing much adorned her…. But still her beauty reached out to him like never before…. And the light from the spot light shimmering off her golden gown, made her mesmerizing!

His expressions according to the dance had to be loving, romantic….. But Vishal had always sustained showing them in the rehearsals making Sandhya frustrated… Making her worried whether he would do his performance to the mark…. But now…. His expressions were way more what she had expected him to do….. Read exactly the way she wanted…. She would have been surprised had she had her eyes open…. 😳

Vishal came back to the Earth when the male's voice sounded loud and clear heart warming…. He forgot everything…. He forgot he was distancing himself from her…. He forgot he never can be in her life…. He forgot each and everything around him except him and her…. His eyes set only on her!❤️

As the dance continued there was a hush in the hall as no one wanted to disturb the mesmerizing loving performance…. But all around the hall lovers found solace in their partners, clasping hands and swaying to the music…. Slowly, ever so slowly she bent down further… Their faces close to each other…. She raised her left leg back, her support on his shoulders…. Gazing down at him to make him in real understand that she was there only for him…. 😕

He caught her arms for support looking up at her…. He knew what those eyes conveyed; he understood every sense of hers…. She was there only for her…. After meeting her her existence ceased only for him, he knew…. But…. No… He couldn't…. Because he didn't exist only for her!

Both of them slowly straightened facing each other, arms holding each others….

In a sudden movement he rotated her around hands clasped….. He lifted her off the ground as she too swung out her legs in a high arc and landed beside him….

She rotated out a little distance away from him… When she turned around she smiled seeing him!

Both had eyes only for each other forgetting they were in a performance…. True lovers deeply in love were dancing to their hearts content…. It would have seemed to anyone watching… And in a way it was true!👏

Involuntarily both Sandhya's and Vishal's eyes welled with tears and their hearts were crying out to each other…. 😭

Sandhya knew she cried because she wanted to help him, share his feelings…. But he was resisting her….😭

Vishal cried because he was in a position where he could not accept her true and beautiful love…..😭

But neither knew why the other was crying…. As it is said that a only a woman can understand another woman's heart, maybe only a lover's heart could read the other heart of its partner…😭

Because consciously both didn't understand why they were so close enough to feel each other's heart beats…. But their hearts… They knew every thing…. Very near to each other they could understand why its partner was upset!😕

As the song ended there was a momentary silence in the room…. 😲 😳

Sandhya and Vishal wishing and hoping the moment would last forever and ever…. Never to end… Never to be broken…. But….

Everyone could not stop clapping, neither stop smiling seeing that Vishal and Sandhya were still hugging each other…😳

Hearing the claps around both of them parted… Not startled…. But very slowly and softly looked at each other… Both immediately closed their eyes again to stop the tears flowing down their cheeks…. Controlling them, composing themselves….😳

He then helped her stand up as the people crowded around them to congratulate them for their stupendous performance….⭐️

Vishal and Sandhya smiled, shook hands with the well wishers but glanced at each frequently…. That much was what they could do for the time being… How much ever either knew or understood… That was all they could do! 😳 ❤️ 😕

The assistant commissioner and family were on the stage giving gifts and congratulating Ajay and Neha…. As photographs flashed there were smiles all around… Most of guests had given gifts and were just chatting or starting with the dinner… Starters and soups! 😊

But the dance floor was full…. Everyone enjoying their fullest…. This was a police fraternity party… Very rarely does this security department of the state get chances to celebrate and enjoy… Because it was always "Duty calls" for them…. So when they get the chance, it might be their only chance…. For days… Months…. Or years! 👍🏼

Dipika showed the AC and family down the platform towards their table…. She called the waiters and helped them with their orders….

Feeling the tug of her saree she looked down to see Rashad standing down pulling at her pallu… Excusing herself she bent down and smiling asked…. 😊

Dipika: Major Rashad Sir! Kya baat hai? Ab aap mere peeche kya kar rahe hain? Aapki…. (Looking around to find Sandhya) vo kahan hain?😉

Rashad: (Shaking his head) Aaj naa.… (Blushing a little😳) Aap bahut achchi lag raheen hain…. 🤪

Dipika: (Laughing a little) Oh why… Thank you! Lekin kya Sandhya ji achchi nahi lag raheen? Vo to humse bhi achchi lag rahi hain…. Princess ki tarah!😃

Rashad: (Instantly) Vo bhi… Lekin late aayi naa…. Isliye first… Vo… (Thinking🤔)

Dipika: (Smiling) Kya hua?! Kuch bhool gaye?❓

Rashad: Haan…. Vo… Ammi kehti hain… Ki jo first aate hain unhi ke liye milta…. Vo pre… Pri…

Dipika: (Laughing) Preference?!?!😊

Rashad: (Grinning😃) Haan wahi… Prefence…. Aapke liye abhi!

Laughing at his innocence she was vividly reminded of Sri… How she forgot words often…. Trying to search the correct word for the situation and how Dipika used to remind her….. Kids were all so much alike in many ways…. She hugged Rashad and placing a kiss on his cheek carried him in her arms…. 🤗

She chatted with him non stop as he kept on his gibberish talk about schools and friends and how beautiful Dipika was…. Going over to the ice cream stall she got him his favorite ice cream… Eating a bite he extended it towards Dipika for her bite…

Seeing his gentlemanliness Dipika smiled and said…. 😊

Dipika: (Ruffling his fair) Thank you so much Major saab… Lekin mujhe abhi nahi chahiye…. Aap khaa lijiye… Main baad me….

Rashad: (Making a face😕) Nai… Aapko abbhii… Mere saath share karna hai! Warna main aapse baat nahi karoonga!

Dipika's smile widened seeing Rashad turn away his face in anger…. She turned his face to make him look at her and said….

Dipika: Achcha baba…. Aapke liye ek bite le leti hoon!

Hearing this Rashad's face split into a wide smile as he extended his cone towards her…. Dipika was about to take a bite from the cone when it was snatched off from Rashad's hand…

Surprised Dipika and Rashad looked around and saw Vishal standing there with the cone in his hand glaring at Rashad… Or say…. Mock glaring at the kid!😡

Vishal: (Mock sterness😳) Kya ho raha hai yahan? Subah se dekh raha hoon… Har ladki pe line maar raha hai! Tumse kya kaha tha aur tu yahan kya kar raha hai? Oie Rashad…. Neeche utar…. Abhi!

Rashad: (Glaring back😡) Kyun? Aapki hai?

At this Dipika's eyes widened in surprise as she shook her head disbelievingly at Rashad's retort…. She looked at an equally stunned Vishal who shaking his head said….😲

Vishal: Oie… Rashad ka bachcha! Chota hai… Lekin muh to dekho!

Rashad: (Hitting his head) Main chota hoon… Aap itne bade ho... Lekin aapko itna bhi nahi pata… Ki main Rashad ka bachcha nahi… (Refering to the fact that he and his Dada shared the same name) Unka pota hoon! (Looking at Dipika) Ye uncle ko kuch bhi nahi aata… Sirf dikhate aise hain ki sab kuch aata hai!

Dipika nodded solemnly at Rashad agreeing with him eanerstly and glancing at Vishal tried her best to suppress her smile…. 😆

Vishal: (Shocked, to Dipika😲) Tum kya uske haan me haan mila rahi ho…. (To Rashad) Tu… Tehar naa abhi…

Saying he tried to hit Rashad, but Dipika pulled him out of his reach and said….

Dipika: Vishal! Ab bas bhi karo… Galti tumhari hai…. Kisne kaha ussse panga lene… Aaj kal ke bachche humse 100% smart aur intelligent hote hain…. Unse baat karke jeetna humare bas ka kaam nahi!

Vishal: (Shaking his head at the small atom bomb) Yeah… I can very well see that!😡

Dipika: (Smoothing Rashad's hair) Now give Rashad's ice cream back!

Vishal: (With defeat) Yes madam! Hmpf!😒

Saying he thrust the ice cream with mock anger towards Rashad who took it with a winning expression…. Having a lick at the ice cream he showed out his tongue at Vishal… Seeing this Vishal tried to hit him again but seeing Dipika's warning glare dropped his hand!👎🏼

Vishal: Alright… Alright… Nahi maarta… Lekin use neeche to utaro! I need to talk to him!

Dipika looked at him and Rashad and then back at him suspiciously…. 😈

Dipika: Kyun? Aisa kya hai jo mujhe nahi janana!?

Vishal: (Pulling Rashad out of her grip and putting him down) Men's talk!😉

Saying Vishal whispered something in Rashad's ears…. Rashad looked at Dipika and back at Vishal… Vishal nodded very seriously at Rashad's look…. Then shrugging his shoulders Rashad went off licking his ice cream without another backwards glance at either of them!😔

As Vishal straightened with an evil smile as Dipika hands on her hip asked…….

Dipika: Are kya kiya tumne? Kya kaha ussse ki bina bye bole bhi vo chala gaya! We were having a good time!

Vishal: (Turning around and smiling) Such!

Dipika: (Knitting her eyebrows) Such!!? Kaisa such?

Vishal: Yahi ki tum already booked ho!😃

At this Dipika eyes widened literally and her mouth dropped open…. Seeing her expression Vishal chuckled and closed her mouth saying….

Vishal: Muh me makki chali jayegi… Waise itna bhi shock hone ki zaroorat nahi hai… Ye such utna to kadva nahi hai!

Dipika: (Shocked😲) Kya? What? I mean…. (Stammering) Tum… Tu… Tum pagal ho gaye ho! (Hitting him😵) Kya zaroorat thi use ye sab batane ki? (Getting angry) Bachchon se kya kaise kehena hai ye bhi nahi pata! Vishal tum bhi naa....

Vishal: (Interjecting) Hey chill! Jaise tumne kaha… Bachcha hai… Uske dil me ye baat zyada der nahi rahegi!

Dipika: But still.... Aise kya kuch kehte hain bachchon se…. Waise bhi tumhara kya? Mere use godh me uthane se tumhe kya problem hai? (Smiling a little😉) Sandhya uthathi hai to… I understand!

Vishal looked at her one sided smile and said shaking his head….

Vishal: As if! Can never be mentioning her?❓

D ipika: (Looking at him smiling the same way) Weeeellllll.. At least I do that openly!

At this both of them looked at each other for long…. Understanding very well what her comment meant… Openly!!!! How open she was! How open Sandhya was! It was him only…….?!?!?

A sudden silence enveloped around them as the harsh truth behind Dipika's words hit both of them… Something he was not ready to agree when the whole world knew what was between him and her!❤️

Such an irony no lovers would have faced… Where they know they loved each other…. The whole world knew they loved each other… But one of them disagreed to agree that he loved her!💔

Vishal: (Breaking the silence) Vo actually main… Rashad ko tumhe bulane ke liye hi bhejha tha…. Ajay aur Neha hum sab ko platform me bula rahe hain… They want a team photograph… With friends!

Saying he turned around to go when Dipika caught his hand stopping him…. He stopped but didn't turn around… He didn't want to look at her this moment knowing why she was stopping him….

Instead Dipika walked around him to face him…

Dipika: (Smiling feebly) Aaj tumhara dance bahut achcha tha… Itna passion aur love maine kabhi kisi dance performance me nahi dekha hai…. (Looking straight into his eyes) Aur ye tabhi possible hai jab performers such me pyaar me ho…. Saaf dikha Vishal… (Glancing at Sandhya at the opposite side of the floor talking to her friends) Tum dono ke chehere ka vo dard… Dekhne waalon ko gaane ka expressions laga hoga… (Looking back at him) Lekin usme sirf aur sirf sachchayi thi Vishal! Maan kyun nahi lete…. (There was a plea in her voice😒) Ab kya hai tumhe jo rok raha hai? (With a determination) Dekhna Vishal… Tum dono ne apne aankhon se behene waale aansoon ko abhi ke liye rok to diya… (At this Vishal looked at her surprised wondering how she knew😕) Lekin jis tarah vo bhar aaye, main jaanti hoon… Vo aaj zaroor behenge… Abhi yahan nahi… Lekin kaheen aur sahi!

Vishal looked at her understanding her plea… The hope in her eyes and face… How much she wished to see him agreeing…. He glanced towards Sandhya and heard her rich, throaty laughter float across the hall straight to his heart… Golden Princess… That was how she was looking now… The moonlight from the high arched window falling across her face and hair… All he could do was stare at her his heart hammering against his veins! His Golden Princess!😍

Taking a deep breath he forced himself to concentrate on the present!😔

Feeling a pressure on his wrist he turned around and saw eagerness in Dipika's face and smile…. He swallowed his regret and smiled back feebly at her….

Dipika: (Very well realizing what that reaction meant started to shake her head) No… Vishal… Please… Mere…😕

Vishal: (Patting her cheek) Chalo… Ajay Neha wait kar rahe hain! Aur haan use (Glancing towards Sandhya) bhi bula laana!
