It is the tradition that the alms shall be given / taken on the same platform. If the receiver is outside the threshold, then one can't give the alms to him standing inside the threshold or he shall be invited inside the threshold (if the donor chose to not to cross the threshold). In this case Ravan tried to cross the invisible rekha and felt the heat of the fire and realized that she was protected within that line. That's why he asked her to come out and give the alms, if not he doesn't want the alms and might as well die out of hunger and her family will be cursed with Bramhahathya dosh (as he is a Brahmin). Hence even though she didn't want to cross the rekha, (offcourse she didn't doubt the Brahmin as Ravan) fearing the curse of a holy man (she knew the curse mata Ahalya faced and the great example was her FIL), she stepped out of the rekha to serve him food.

We do need to understand safety and security. I used to get irritated when my mom was so over-protective of me. But after all the rape cases came into light, I understand her worries. As a mother, who worries for her daughter's safety. Mind games are very tricky to understand. Again why we need to understand Shakuni, and Krishna's counter-moves.

Women definately should opt for some self defence lessons , it is quite popular now here in north

There are also special classes where they teach you how to judge one's bad intention , analysing his actions and words , it has prooved beneficial

in Most of these rape cases , the accused is known to the victim , that is something worrysome

I think transition in vishnu behavior from satay yug to dwapar yug ... depicts that with time human behavior changes ...their thinking and life style ... similarly society norms, rules definition of right and wrong ...tackling with criminal ... everything should be changed ... we show live in present and act accordingly ... history can be just be looked up for reference ... instead of living according to it

I am going to start self-defense when I get to Chennai. Right now, I have my pepper spray, and my gut instincts, which are very strong.
I understand mind games though. Psychology on me is not easy 😆

That is the meaning of the yugas as well.
Kali Yuga is the Yuga where God distances Himself from humans, with the exception of a few people, who are true worshippers of God.
