Uff bharat!! Im falling in love with this man...
Urmila-bharat scene was beautiful! But the astonishing fact is that her devar's are more concerned about her much more than her own sister's & MIL's...😒
And I always expected that kind of conversation from Ram .
Bharat-Shatrughan debate was good too..these sumitranandan's are really fiery😆
But I feel the forest scenes are getting dragged...I also fear the re-arrival of Raavan & company!!😳

Hi, everyone, I finally caught up w/ the serial after several weeks.

About Dasharath's death & the reactions of Bharat & Shatrughan, I really had no complaints, although they obviously overdid both Shatrughan's treatment of Manthara & Bharat's treatment of Kaikeyi. It lacked credulity somewhat - if Bharat could drag Kaikeyi to the gates of the city and tell her that she's being expelled, why not have some of his guards escort her all the way to Kekaya? That track hardly seemed credible. But the Bharat-Rama milan was well done, and I have few complaints about it.

However, if one was of the opinion at the start of the serial that the CVs of this serial hate Bharat (as an extension of their Kaikeyi hatred), then the events of the last 2 days just reinforced it. Previously, Bharat was shown as a wimp, and Mandavi as a Ravan fangal. Now, after everything has been resolved and Bharat has agreed to administer (as opposed to rule) Ayodhya in Rama's name, he does a volte face and shows himself not as emotional, but devoid of character - uncharacterestic for him.

First the facts. He's sent back by Rama, so he installs his padukas on the throne and runs the administration from Nandigram, where he lives the life of a mendicant. It was a simple decision for him.

Now for the way 'Sita viewed it' (as per the USP of this serial). He comes back, and after praying to the padukas, he turns around and stages a walkout. Mandavi is sent by Kaushalya to convince him otherwise, and both Mandavi and later Shatrughan give Bharat long lectures about his duty to everybody, as well as his promise to Rama. What could be more defamatory than Bharat having to take lectures from his wife & younger brother on his duties and his vows?

Both Mandavi & Shatrughan made compelling arguments, and Bharat's reaction was to walk away from them. Also, given how they are depicting this, why not show Mandavi volunteering to don a sadhvi's garb like Sita, regardless of whether she stays w/ Bharat or Sumitra's bahus? As it is, there is nothing in Valmiki - dunno about Tulsidas - that has Mandavi or Shrutakirti living separately from their husbands, so why show it? Only person who was forced to do it was Urmila, and that was b'cos Lakshman wasn't around. But since Bharat & Shatrughan were around, it would have been improper for Mandavi & Shrutakirti to be anywhere else.

Really, there was no need to drag what Bharat might eventually do, even in this serial: live like a hermit in Nandigram. All they did was defame his character and undo some of the great stuff he did when he rejected the throne. The first time he did it, it was justified, as he refused to endorse the plot against Rama. But this time, it's not, since he not only breaks his promises to Rama, but also walks away from his duty to the people of Ayodhya.

Dear CVs, I understand that you hate Kaikeyi & Manthara - many people do. There is no justification for extending that hatred to Bharat - none whatsoever

This doesn't happen often, but I wholeheartedly agree with you, Vrish. Much as I enjoyed Sujoy's performance, the writing is undoing all the goodwill he earned. This entire Bharat Milaap track is supposed to represent the evolution from naive, self-interested love to the pure, selfless, unconditional love. Though Sujoy made the emotions palpable, the CVs had him experience them in the wrong order - when he was supposed to feel guilty, he was feeling entitled; when he was supposed to accept his master's will and abide by it selflessly he's experiencing guilt. I'll probably make a separate thread on this with quotes and stuff, but yeah I'm disappointed with the anti-character development they're showcased with their twisted take on the Nandigram decision. The show itself had Mandavi refer to Bharat as a reflection of Ram - shunning duties isn't very Ram-like, and by extension it's unlike Bharat. That too, to say something like "I've only followed others' orders all this time, I'm finally going to do something for ME" - that dialogue is the opposite of what Ramayan is all about, it sounds more like quote from some Cosmo magazine article about the importance of "me-time" for housewives or something.

Both of you put out the point very well. Vrish and MS.
This whole siya POV has lost its track.
We get some really good episodes with some great writing and then boom.
They must be having several writers who do not connect with each other I guess.

But everything is in the hand's of cv's and they are quite obsessed with Raavan!! so the day is not far away when we'll again have episodes of Raavanayam!!

Hi,Vrish & Magadhsundari,I respect your opinion but I feel the cv's have done justice to Bharat's character...initially even I felt they went OTT with his senti-ness but now when I look back,I feel that's much needed. We couldn't expect such an emotional outburst otherwise. You know he's like this pressure cooker who goes on suppressing his emotions only to burst with full force... an important factor is he never received the love that he wanted from kaikeyi, but he never reacted. With the sudden change of event's he could take it no longer.
Ad regarding his dialogue,''I've only followed other's...'',I think he was referring to the incident of Kaikeyi sending shatru & him to KAIKEYA.
But the only thing that irk's me is that these emotions are what today's generation feel...was it the same in treta yug as well???

ankita his initial emotional outbursts were bang on.
the second time around is what we are referring to.
bharath from the stories i have heard is that he never went back to Ayodhya.
He took care from Nandigram. It was a decision he made when he put the Padukas on his head.

good analysis...pathetic writers have turned bharat to cry baby now 😡...stretching it unnecessarily and making the track loose its charm
