In this wording, there is a mention of Manthara's name. In fact, the wording attributes Ravana's killing to Manthara. Why so?
Goddess Saraswati
Goddess Saraswati is the presiding deity of speech and knowledge. Often, elders warn youngsters that they should not use foul wording because it is like showing dishonor to the Goddess
Sitting on the tongue
Often we hear in the mythology that on a crucial juncture, Goddess Saraswati sits on the tongue of a person and makes him/her speak what is ordained by God. Kumbhakarna's asking for Nidrasana instead of Indrasana is a classical example of t
She did this to Manthara too
Goddess Saraswati did the same to Manthara too. She made her use all the wily words that could poison the mind of Kaikeyi. As it seems that she was the trigger of the drama that was about to unfold.
We are mere actors
This insight clearly emphasises on the point that we are nothing but actors on the stage of this universal drama where everything is monitored, planned and executed by God himself. We are just the - (tools) that the master-engineer use.
Role of Manthara
There are very beautiful and inspiring stories that one can relish while studying Ramayana but Manthara's role is often missed in this context.
Her cunning portrayal
God's ways are subtle
You would never think about this in the way unless something else coaxes your mind; I am sure. Manthara's role in the downfall of Ravana is planned by God himself. The ways adopted by God are always subtle and are revealed to those who are open to new ideas.

Thank you Jayashree. Very insightful. Heard another story in this context. Raja Ashwapathi who understood language of animals sending Manthara with Kaikeyi for the purpose of establishment of Dharma. He understood from animals that adharm will flourish (ASURAS) n the forest will be under them n for re-establishing dharm Ram (Vishnu) has to be sent to the forest. Sorry can't remember completely. Read a long time back.😃

thanks for sharing this story. Along with the this and the other one shared here, I have read (not sure about the author) and even heard from my Grand father that when Guru Vashist realized the fact that Dashrath's end is approaching and he has to face the shrap given by Shravan Kumar's parents, first he goes to Manthara and requests for her help in setting the plot for the drama but he didn't revealed the fact that her words will be keys to the death of dashrath. but he still told her that it is for the good of the state and by doing this act, she will hated by one and all but still she went ahead to pollute Kaikeyi's mind thinking that she has to serve the nation which took care of her for such a long time (ever since she came to Ayodhya with kaikeyi (to repay) then he goes to Rani kaikeyi who was dear to the king and also strong minded lady. There he explains in detail what is to be expected and what he wants her to do. Though reluctant in the beging, she agrees with the rajguru for a simple reason, if she doesn't act, her husband will eventually die but will not have the Moksh and will have to roam as a stray atma. Knowing very well that she will be hated by all and will be cursed, still for the betterment of her husband, she acts as a insecure & greedy mother and ask for her long forgotten boons (which were reminded by the Vashist. Rest is the history.

Insightful 😊
However a question crossed my mind, if we say Manthra said all those words or provoked Kayeki because she was just a pawn in the bigger plan. Or for that matter if we say that a particular person did or said something because it was supposed to happen to lead to bigger things then isn't it that we are simply blaming all our actions to a bigger power. As in supposed I did something wrong I can get away simply by saying that is what God wanted. Won't even criminals start justifing their actions by saying the same thing ?

@ Sumedha, that was the time when God & Goddesses used to come down to earth to bless some one and Dharma was still prevailed at that age. That is age when some Bhakth was in need, the God used to rush fro his help or if he is pleased used to bless him with var (gift). The Bhakth be him a good person or a bad one, was sincere in his prayers to god and God could never turn his back to their request. So we should believe if the goddess Saraswathi made manthara use those words to kaikeyi to change her mind.
However I still embrace the third story which was narrated by my Grandpaa which I have posted in my previous post in this thread. That doesn't mean I don't accept the other stories like Ashwapati's theory of Saraswathi.
In current days forget about our sincere prayers to God, even while doing pooja, we will be thinking of many more things and are unable to concentrate even for few minutes towards God. So we can't take that theory and shelter of larger good.

I do agree about the prayer thing, today it has become difficult to concentrate for even a minute.
About God and Goddess coming to earth, I'll discuss that some time later 😊 bit short of time today.
