The current track is a bit cold. The actors' emotions look so forced.

Dasharatha consults everyone needed for his decision(his ministers, gurus, subjects) and gets their approval. This is not handing over family property but kingdom. Even if hurried, he takes due diligence.

Valmiki Ramayana describes every minute of this in great detail. Rama never questions his father as its not just his father's but peoples' decision blessed by his Guru. Even his walk was described. Dasharatha asks him to sleep on grass bed along with Sita. He actually calls Rama twice. Once to announce the decision and again to say that he is getting bad dreams n omens and he is in a hurry and the coronation will be tomorrow(this is not in sabha).

CVs could have used that detailed narrative to good use here.

Kausalya was meditating on Vishnu n Lakshmi. She hears the news from Rama(who straight away goes to inform her) and her joy is immense. Yesterday, Kausalya's reaction was so pale.

This is the crux of Ramayana. Rama is vigrahavan dharma. Embodiment of dharma. Accordjng to many scholars, the way he deals with the situation is the unparalled and best example of his knowledge and dharma.

The way he maintains equanimity, the way he convinces dasharatha, kausalya and Sumitra is just out of the world. The way this track is progressing, I don't think we will see those gems in detail. Everyone is meeting at one spot here like a routine drama.

Today's episode was equally lackluster. Compare this with the minutest detail they are showing in Ravana's track. To fill time.

Looks like cvs are more interested in showing manthara and Kekiye's reaction.
The actors could be tired shooting continuously and probably that's why thry couldn't emote properly.

Y are they ruining Kaikayee and Dashrath's role badly? Kaikayee was very happy initially that her son Rama is getting coronated as a king but here she is shown as out and out villian.

Dashratha first told his family abt rama's coronation. He never ever took such a big decision in haste without informing his family

From what I gather simply because this is meant to be Ramayana from Sita perspective so because of that they are rushing into vanvas thus not taking time to develop characters properly.
I also found Kausalya fake yesterday. It's not how it was meant to be and as so many people have already pointed out Kaikeyi was happy at first. So why are they butchering the characters?
At this rate instead of garnering better TRPs the opposite will happen may be that's why they got Maddy to give an interview to try to keep viewers content.

Actually SKR has not changed the way the coronation decision was taken from Valmiki Ramayan. The decision to crown Ram as the heir apparent was taken by King Dasharath as he felt he was getting old and tired. Also his intuition warned him of his impending death and he wanted to rest and be relieved of his responsibilities before that.
He puts forth his thoughts to his ministers and Rishi Vashist who unanimously agree with king Dasharath. Ram is summoned and told the decision.
He goes to his mother and Sita to inform them. News spreads and Manthara comes to know and rest is history.

Kaikeyi s characterization was changed way back in SKR. But the coronation decision and timing is as per Valmiki Ramayan. Ram was supposed to have his coronation the day after the announcement.

Rama comes to know first. Rest of the family comes to know later. All this hurry was due to Dasharatha's premonition and bad dreams.

But he didnt do anything wrong in taking the decision. He consulted his people.

Thanks for the post and the update Santhi.
Agree yesterday and todays episodes were pale when compared to what we have seen before. Considering what we have read about the couples being happy for 12 years before the Rajyabhishek comes into picture, here it seems rushed.

Ofcourse the story needs to move on and that is fine. Real drama is only when Kaikeyi asks for her promises to be fulfilled. As you said it would be great to see Rama convincing the mothers, convincing Sita and Lakshman not to go with him etcc done thoroughly.

So much of detail for Ravana and his quest to rule the world.

Today's episode was much better. the listlessness on ram's face is kind of gone. And everyone is feeling the excitement.

Valmiki dedicated almost one whole sarga to the joy in Ayodhya. But here it's very measured. What is not measured is ravan's screen time. Kaikeyi's reaction was expected( from yesterday's precap).

What doesn't go well with me is her flaunting 'adhikar' on rama in this matter. Rajyabhishek is not giving inheritance rights to a vast family property but deciding ruler of a kingdom. And a very serious matter. Still can't get what has mother's rights over son have to do with it. Especially in an era where there was lot of detachment observed. Little kids were sent away to gurukuls.

I also don't understand Ram's dilemma. Why was he looking for kaikeyi's approval? Does he suspect her? Does he not have intrinsic faith in her love towards him? In the famous Rama's birthday scene from the past, he senses something in her mind. He talks about adhikaron Ka hanan(yesterday). Hey ram!!! Having an iota of doubt on his father's decision is not the rama I know. In all this, his feeling bharat's absence is the only thing. Whose adhikar is he talking about? Kaikeyi's or bharat's. Kausalya is crown queen n Rama the eldest n most deserving as determined by the esteemed court of people. Saves n ministers.if Bharat has adhikar, so do Lakshman n shatrughna. Does Rama know what dasharatha's promise to kaikeyi's father?

He knows how much she loves her. He does know all this and has no doubts. The Rama I know is straight as an arrow.

Except that CVs want to show some other version.

In valmiki ramayan, when Bharat goes to meet Rama in forest, rama mentions about the promise of dasharatha to kaikeyi's father. So he knew it. But it was never about adhikaron ka hanan.

Since yesterday's episode, Rama's dilemma was bothering me too. It seemed yesterday he was thinking about all his brothers and not Bharat in particular. Today his dialogue to Kaikeyi when she comes to the river Sarayu made me think that Bharat is who he was particularly worried about yesterday.

I think he has always felt that Kaikeyi did not like Dasarath praising Ram so much. Also when Bharat & Shatrughna return from their long stay at Kaikeya and Kaikeyi goes as a warrior to receive and test Bharat and she is so proud of him. All this has made Rama realize what Kaikeyi wants for Bharat.
At this point i don't think he is aware of Dasarath's promises to Kaikeyi's father. Based on what he has seen of Kaikeyi's behavior he has concluded that she may object to his Rajyabhishek.
I think this is what the CVs are trying to show here.
