hai SKR ians.
I know many of u have read this book. The scion of ikshvaku, the first part in RAmchandra series by Amish Tripati.
This is also a new narration on Ramayan which is really well told. I just loved the book and the author perspective and his new kind of projection of characters.
I just wanted to know u r's opinion on this book.
Just by curiosity
Please feel free to comment. And sorry if I told something wrong

Its a fabulous book , an entirely different and refreshing storyline.

New characters like Manthara's daughter - roshni and very different characterstics of all the characters

The best part is it is the first book of the series , 4 more still to come

I am reading it dear. Not yet completed. It has a fresh perspective. What I liked about the book is the description of law. It is done beautifully. Law has to be same.
But my major disappointments with respect to the book are these

1) There was no need to bring a Nirbhaya like case in that book. It looked so out of place
2) Sita is Lakshmi, she is not Shakti. Giving Sita more of a Shakti feel than a Lakshmi feel didnt quite connect it
3) There was no need to mix Panchali swayamvar in Sita swayamvar.

Amish Tripathi's books ( I have read Shiva triology) though tries to give a contemporary twist to the mythology, unfortunately he is unable to traverse the grey in the epics. Those moral conflicts, decisions on moral conflicts etc..needs quite a lot of improvising.

Mostly he treats things black and white. Shiva trilogy end you can feel it. He tried to give a happy ending, not a logical ending.

Totally agree with u Sruti..
I was shocked when he brought Nirrbhaya case.I truly hated the part
The very beginning of the book where Ram is considered as bad omen to Dhasrath created a hatred towards the story
He made Rama a policeman which will be opposed b many as they cant accept him be betrayed n ill-treated by his father
Bharat wooing girls😆lol
The unimaginabe swayamvar..
I left it half way..The book has so much fiction n I can never connect to the book..
The character of Lakshman is good though

@Agnesfan Lakshman is the only character he has kept more or less true to the epic. He has heavily butchered Urmila as an empty headed woman, whereas she is actually very strong willed

I read the book immediately on releasing (I had placed prelaunch order) as I was eager to read it after I had read his Shiva Trilogy and loved them. However I was not so enchanted by this book as I was with the other series. I was OK with Ram and Sita to some extent but the way he treated the Rishis (Vashist & Vishwamithra) was beyond my limits. And I was laughing at Bharat's portrayal and how suspective Lakshman was about Bharat.
But what I liked the most in that book was the Exile of Ram and the reason he gave for that. It was so natural to be Sriram to accept his wrong deeds even if done unknowingly and the prayashchit (punishment) he wanted to do for that mistake or for breaking the law.

Yes Jaya, that law aspects, the adherence to law that is what kept me going with that book. Because you could see Ram always adhering to dharma, at any cost.
