I tired to translate the the meaning of seven vows that bride and bridegroom give to each other. I could have written long explanations to each vow but I believe that will kill the essence hence I tried to be as laconic as I could. Suggestions welcome.
Saptapadi literally means seven (sapta) steps (padi).
Om eesh ekpadi bhava
With the promise to nourish each other, I take this first step with you.
Om urajeydiwapadi bhava
With determination to grow together in strength physical, mental and spiritual, I take this second step with you.
Om raaysaposhaay treepadi bhava
With the promise to preserve our wealth and prosperity, I take this third step with you.
Om mayobhavyaay chatushpadi bhava
With the vow to serve you with happiness and harmony, I take this fourth step with you.
Om prajaabhaya panchapadi bhava
With the promise to care for healthy, long lives of our children, I take this fifth step with you.
Om thritubhaya chatpadi bhava
With the vow to be together in all responsibilities, I take this sixth step with you.
Om savare saptapadi bhava
With the promise of everlasting friendship and true companionship, I take this seventh step with you.
