There are some truths that alter your very existence. And always it is better that such truth comes from the right person. Today Sita heard such a truth. A truth which her father or mother should have told her, but she hears it from her Guru. The truth that she is not the biological daughter of her parents. If you look at an adoptive child it carries a lot of pressure on the child. There will be myriad of questions going in its mind when the truth is told that their parents are not biological. First and foremost being why did the parents who gave birth to me leave me. Who are they. Where are they. So am living in someone else's mercy, sympathy. Do I really belong here. Are these riches mine.

It is a very sensitive and psychological area as far as a child is concerned. And if you look Sita is a teenager and knowing this fact has affected her immensely. Yes she is able to connect now why she is able to talk the language of nature. Why nature understands her. But at the same time what she considers her home, her sisters, her parents have become distant to her. Her whole existence has Rajrishi Janak's daughter no longer holds true.

I am very happy that CVs have bought up this sensitive issue of adoption. Because it is a very emotional issue that needs to be dealt with a lot of empathy. I will be happy to see how Raja Janak is able to handle the questions of his daughter and the larger family about her origin.

@shruti...very well put...this part comes as a surprise as thpugh we knew sita is adopted never have thought of this side much and kudos for cvs for bringing this aspect...even if the child is cared for loved it always raises a question in the mind of the children and it was beautifully brought out in the episode ..the sadness on sita's face on realizing the truth was heart rending..

Would be very interested on seeing janaks reply..

On another note ,sorry for slightly degressing from the topic for me it also looked like it brought out beautiful message as when sita asks kaki I'm janak's daughter so called janaki...but y boomija .and when she says ya you are janaks daughter but also you were taken from the mother earth ...it also reinstated a beautiful message "vasutheva kutumbakam"..though often we always connects our identity with our family, there exists the greater truth that we are all children of the mother nature from the supreme universe and that's y we feel a connect to all the beings, when they hurt we feel the pain ...a tragedy anywhere shook us too...so in a way we are children's of our ma earth too ..

Shruthi,
The best part was the way she told Sita.

When Sita said that she is raja Janaks daughter and mandvi etc are her sisters,

Gargi said - it is true, but your family is not limited to them, you are united with the entire prakriti.

I loved that she never used the negative words of saying that you are not their daughter - after all to be a parent goes far beyond just giving birth, that is just the beginning of the beautiful life long journey called parenthood.

So Gargi saying that it's is true that you are the daughter of Janak was the moment of the day for me !

This is again another distortion. Sita grew up knowing she was born from the Earth. The way they handled this story made it seem like Sita was a typical human girl traumatized by the truth of her birth - too filmy and dramatic for my taste!

@prav yes we are all one way or the other connected to prakriti. That's why calamity for someone else affects us too. That's why when a life is saved at some part of the world we too feel the happiness. But the point is we too often forget this connect and limit ourselves to our immediate family. Mostly it requires a tragedy of massive scale or a personal one for people to see and understand the real humanity
@Arshics yes Gargi told the truth to Sita in a very beautiful manner. She didn't actually deny that she is not Janak's daughter, she only told, she is not only Janak's daughter, she is the daughter of the earth and is responsible for the welfare of earth or Prakriti. I would say this is something really good, making Sita realize her larger role.

@Shruthi: I really felt King Janak will tell sita about her birth. Ram went to Jabali to get a solution for animal sacrifice whom he felt to be a guru, here sita knows the truth again from Gargi whom she accepted as guru. So now sita started thinking about the truth of her existence. The way sita took the order of her mom in sending her alone was a beauty. She thought that she came to save the life but in actual sense she came to know about her life.

@Ramya agree to you. Actually this show has placed a lot of importance on Guru if you see. Guru not in literal sense. But learnings from each and everything. Every small being teaches you something. If you look Ram discusses, debates takes various opinions before arriving at a decision.
Same with Sita. She questions, asks, listens, clarifies, try to understand and evolves. As individuals we should also strive to learn.
We have to collect information from various sources. Then process it. We are given intellect to process the information and take out what is right, what is wrong. But unless we are open towards various philosophies, various thought process, various POVs the thinking never happens. We will have a myopic vision. And that vision is neither good for the individual nor for the society.

@blue: Absolutely shruthi. I was asked by my 5yrs old niece "Have u seen the original book of what he wrote" when I told valmiki wrote in such a way while debating with her father. I have not seen the palm leaves of his work, so who incorporated the same in printed version might have included his/her view also which I can't claim to be right/wrong. The books I read and the online sites I read are all translated scripts, how can I argue and say this is right or wrong. So my stand is to pick the best of all.

@Ramya the 5 year old asked the most valid question. That's why I say I do not have enough to knowledge to say something is distorted, I can only say it is different from what I have read or heard so far. And in the different interpretation I take what is good for me and leave out the rest. That's it.
