@Adi you have given a nice example of why Krishna with flute is not worshipped. Yes maybe because it is the end. See I don't know whether you have read the book Krishna Key by Ashwin Sanghi. It's quite an interesting book. I just remembered some facts mentioned about Shiv Lingam in that book ( it is a fiction, the science mentioned there need not be authentic. But another site mentions the same https://yuvashaktibanaras.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/shivlinga-and-nuclear-reactor/) . It tells that Shiv Linga is similar to nuclear reactor which has both constructive and destructive energy. And we know any incorrect use of nuclear energy can result in great destruction, so maybe incorrect puja of Shiv Linga can create immense negative energy not good for house. See we all are not learnt priests who know exactly how the worship has to happen unlike the one in temples. So considering this aspect of Shiv Linga it is not allowed to be worshipped at home.

I'am un aware of most of these practices - like Rama not worshipped alone, or Krishna with the flute.

The reasons discussed here, for the worship of Rama seem very logical. Infact, whatever pictures of Rama we see in any home / puja room are either Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman together or Rama Pattabhishekam.

I also heard, that keeping the pattabhishekam pic, @ house / puja room brings prosperity and peace to the house.

Reg Krishna with flute - have not heard before, that it is not worshipped. But per my thoughts, there could be one reason.

May be it signifies the end of the Krishna avatar ? - I have heard / read that once when he was reclining under a tree, playing his flute, and moving his toe in tune with the flute, a hunter from a distance mistook for a deer, and shot an arrow., and that's how, the avatar ended.

This is just my thought...it can be wrong.

Reg Lakshmi Narasimha - I'am from Andhra, and we have quite a number of Lakshmi Narasimha temples in our state...

Yes, I have also heard, that Shiv linga should not be worshipped at home. Would like to know the reason for same.

Also would like to know more about Saligramas.

@green: Yeah, we worship lakshmi narasimha in TN temples but in house only yoga narasimha. May be for the reason what I told before. Yet to conclude on this.

Worshiping any form of God is beginning of the journey from Sagun, Sakar to NIrgun Nirakar.
The ultimate aim is to realise, attain Brhman- The Supreme Consciousness. That's the reason a soul is born again & again till the final goal is achieved.

Beautiful shruthi. The comparison of nuclear reactor and siva, woh my favourite subject. Already siva is for destruction of bad ones. So now I can correlate the two.
If u see the earth in Pancha Bhoota Stala (chidambaram), as I told u about the chidambaram secret, it also connects well.

@adi once you are able to connect spirituality to physics+maths then you have it yaar. That's what I am trying to connect. Interestingly I got another connection.

negative*negative=positive

Postive* negative=negative

negative*positive= negative

The above 4 things are basic maths. Transalate to spirituality

Dharma*Dharma= Dharma

Adharma*adharma= Dharma

Dharma* Adharma= Adharma

Adharma* Dharma= Adharma

In simple terms we can mathematically tell if adharma is used as a method of defense when the method of attack is adharma it is acceptable. Because dharma will be established.

Because when attack is dharma and defense is adharma, adharma wins, adharma is attack, dharma is defense then also adharma wins.

Only thing the good people need to know is that they should never use adharma method of defense when the attack is dharma and they should never use adharma method of attack.

But adharma method of defense for adharma method of attack is acceptable and protected by Lord.

In certain part of the north Indian temples, the public is allowed to do pooja on their own, especially Kasi whereas in south, people are not allowed to enter even the Moolasthanam of the temples. What is the reason behind it?
