The actors only act what they're given, and Ram is being portrayed as a typical warrior prince, and his divine aspect is being totally ignored. Yes, Lord Ram was a warrior prince, but he was also the embodiment of peace, tranquility and joy. He always had a pleasant smile on his face, and his gait was charming and graceful. He was not the sort of prince who would do stunts on his horse and have a typical filmy romance with Sita.

As for Sita, she is supposed to match Lord Ram in character. Both of them were known for their calm, pleasant countenances. Sita was not a doormat, but she was demure and respectful to her elders, just as Ram was. Neither of them was outspoken or overly curious. Neither of them broke the rules and regulations of that era. I do not see that in Ashish or Madirakshi, and the fault lies with the CVs.

Also, I am hating the costume of Sita, which is way too modern and revealing. It's something I can find it any store today. It doesn't have the feel of treta yuga to it. Goddess Sita was always attired in beautiful silk sarees of various bright colors, while Lord Ram was known for wearing pitambara (yellow silk). Also, Sita's hair shouldn't be loose. Women did not have loose hair back in those days, as it was considered inauspicious. Sita's hair should be braided and adorned with a veil.

But this show has been having major issues with costumes since the very beginning, so I don't expect any better.

@ Bold : I will say the same... I have nothing against the actors ! I am not a fan girl of anyone in particular... an actor / actress needs to appeal to me in a role given to him / her. It is only then that I can like them and I move on pretty quickly ... so it is not necessary to like everything really and if they do falter, I will say it for sure.

What I do not like is that people from different fan bases do not accept criticism in any form, they say they do but no they don't. It is like you have to like it or else they start to mock.

Rightly said, I am okay with creative liberties but what Team SKR is doing is ruining the essence of Ramayana. I for once have not felt it in the whole duration of SKR that I have watched until now. Neither have my grandparents etc.

They need to focus at least on the Yug they are portraying ... but I dont see it happening !

Yup, same here. This show does not have the feel of Ramayana. I'm not even talking about the major distortions. Simple things like saying "pranaam" to parents and touching their feet when entering a room, the attire and makeup of the characters, not walking out without escorts (especially Sita and her sisters), not interfering in political matters, not talking back to elders even when they're wrong, addressing a person respectfully if they are elder to you, etc.

These are very simple things that can go a long way in making the show better.

agree di ! like in many versions of Ramayan one can see that on small small things they used to ask order, doing prnaam and all ! like standing immediately when elder enters ! lord Ram was divine ! he was kamal nayan! his words were like sheetal jal in fire ! dayalu kripalu. kripa nidhaan 1 the glory of d couple cannot be sing ! i get emotional !

I am gonna go and ask for reference really !!! 😕

You should! Let's see what they say. 😉

What they might show is have them meet the "first time" in the pushp vatika, and this rescue scene might come afterwards, before or after the swayamvar even! Who knows?

Vrish, pefect topic, liked the name.
This is just a thought.
Did we expect them to follow the exact book version of Valmiki Ramayan?
The name is 'Siya Ke Ram'. They do mention Ramayan ka ek undekha pahelu.
Its obvious to get something different.
Many more pts will be added here as the show progresses. It's better to have them in one thread for easy reference for the contributor as well as the readers.

Minakshi, I know that few follow the original Valmiki Ramayan, just like we saw the havoc they played in DkDM. But I thought that this serial would be about highlighting Sita's relationship w/ Rama, and let other things, such as maybe the war, or Kaikeyi's relationships w/ Kaushalya & Sumitra, fade in the background.

But while it's one thing to adjust the focus of attention, is it really necessary to change basic facts of the story? Like Sudhanva - the ruler who wanted both Mahadev's bow and Sita's hand in marriage - was killed in battle by Janak - and his kingdom handed over to Kushadwaj to rule. Just b'cos we don't do those things today doesn't mean that it wasn't the norm then. But to sanitize it for today's viewership, those facts are changed, Sita intervenes and Janak states that there is no death penalty? W*F?

Anyway, happy to see this thread being such a hit. Not that I wanted it to be, but I knew it had to 😕

Vrish, there was a time when the book version was followed upto certain extent. We all have grown up watching those shows. So it's difficult to adjust to a different perspective. The risk taken by PH is quite big. After watching Mahadev ke Ram, what will be shown here is clearly their interpretation of various events. They've retained Ram's bg from their past show, that was one of the best thing of Mahadev ke Ram's track.
This thread will be a hit, as Ramayan is read, heard by most of us, so people know what they are talking about.
At the same time there are viewers like me, who are open to a good perspective. Not that any different perspective can change the charm, beauty of the book version. But we like Ramayan so much that we are ready to give chance to any good attempt with an open mind just to understand some good hidden lessons.

Mahadev ka Rama was the funniest Ramayan I ever saw. At least there, they had the good sense to abort that track and only finish off that story on Dushera so that the actors could go free.
