Also, did anyone see the recent promo of ISA? I saw it in my fb feed, and that ruksar being married is taking the male leads name and her husband is beating her up for it. Ruksaar is a black character, but does she deserve physical abuse for taking a man's word and the show glorifying it like it's okay for her to be beaten up for it? I never watched the show except knowing little bits of in videos and the story. And after hearing ruksaar never had parents and was supposed to be married to the male lead but he got married to someone else and since then she has got crazy, I was glad I never watched the show as I was thinking to watch since the Muslim background it shared with my family culture so I wanted to see. They are again showing woman against woman. In real life, it's extremly rare to find a woman completely evil yet these serials are so unrealistic that they make it seem like more than Half population of females are completely evil and desperate like that for someone's husband. And she having no parents and then not getting married to a guy she was supposed to, I would have preferred to show her grey or white and then move on like how it's in real life and also because she should've gotten a happy ending after being orphan since childhood. Not unrealistic and stupidity like that. Pakistani and American shows never show such stupidity and unrealistic characters.

Well, Pakistani shows try to show women against women in almost most of their shows & they are very realistic characters too. Most of the times these portrayals are termed grey as the whole game is about emotions. I remember in KRPKAB, emotions made up the villain in the story, leading to Ish-Sona conflict where Ish was termed the negative character as per the plot but she later improved, which is very real since I have seen such conflicts in reality. Reality is grey, there is no doubt about it. So many times, we don't even realize misogyny, mental, emotional abuse around us.

ITV is too regressive most of the times. Misogyny & so many other things are fine on the name of entertainment.

Stereotyping parameters of female leads in ITV-
1. Religious.
2. Dresses in traditional clothes. Vamp in modern-short clothes. (I have no issues with traditional dresses, but to say only good women wear them is plain weird, Evil has no gender, no dressing style, no religion too- Zoya in QH wore jeans-tops and she was a nice woman by all means, Avni wore modern dresses- was a nice woman by all means). Dressing must be as per comfort & not a parameter to establish good & bad.
3. Never utters a word despite the taunts thrown to her. (Fortunately, this is changing a bit).
4. And the list goes on.

Most of these trends were set by EK, carried on by GK & then by other shows as well.

Or the double standards of good girls wear traditional clothes and don't drink, etc while bad girls are shown to be wearing modern clothes, drinking and not able to cook. It's such a bad message and I find it extremely regressive, wrong and unfair.

Indian audience is hypocrite i mnust say when hero is shown aggressive like ASR ,RK or Shivay who manhandles females they find it them so hot i mean really.RK was such abusive character i use to hate that character but fans audience were like we love rk kaminapan like really person who treated his wife like commodity ,pulled revenge on her then kidnapped her chained her with bed was hot to ppl but when female character tried to revenge the same character audience were like gave him one chance just becoz he is man and hot. Some to even wished rape for madhu when she become frnd with sultan this is what the mentality of audience tab lesson nahi lens hota show se.When actress play some bold character or controversial character or doing something wrong she is bashed like nothing. Our audience is not only regressive but hypocrite too.

Since I am for equality, I would actually point out on what I find uncomfortable then & there only, be it for male or a female character. For eg, a man being molested is uncomfortable for me & I would point the woman out for that. Same goes for man doing it to woman.

Praise the characters when they need to be praised for their actions but point them out when that needs to be done.

It's different thing to like someone for their work but a completely different to be critic of their personal misdemeanors which are wrong.

I like Kangana for her work, her boldness but I don't like how she plays the feminist card everywhere even when it's not applicable (something she did in Sonu Sood case).

Hypocrisy should be pointed out. Back when I was teenager, I confess that I liked those Gul heroes, but now I don't, I can't help myself from pointing out the wrongs they did.

RK remains one of my favorite fictional characters and one of the things i like most about him is that there was no hypocrisy or white washing of him.
He was a manipulative, scheming as-shole,a self proclaimed kameena,a crazy, diabolical narcissus.
Yet it all worked because the writing and the acting managed to get the nuances of the character.

The story worked as long as Madhu was shown to be as crazy as R.K.
As R.K said "main pagal, tum mujhse si badi pagal"
IMO,the story faltered when they aimed for the happy ever after instead of a more appropriate tragic ending for the show.

lol no white washing of him really he was glorified when he was shown hero of the show when infact he acted like psycho patient. In real life ppl like him deserved to be in jail or mental asylum not to be glorified heroes of the show whom heroine is shown crazy about and forgive him for his all crimes. But then it's your opinion infact in second season they shown marital rape in name of love.Anyways Rk fans se argue karna is like banging head in the wall so good nyt tc

@TheMockingbird
This forum preaches a lot about the difference between real and reel but does not practice it😃
Rk as a real person would be abhorrent, however, as fiction, he was compelling viewing.

And my post is only about RK,not the character played by Vivian in the 2nd season.
And it is good morning in my part of the world ,so good morning😆

hv you not read the topic we were discussing i think u failed to notice they are talking about how regressive and hypocrite audience iss.And hw stalking manhandling is encouraged or glorified in name of romance.I just gave example of RK ,ASR and shivay who are called hot when all they just did is manhandling of woman .so real or reel comment of your doesn't fit here. Here we r talking hw itv glorify manhandling when in real life it's crime.Ab you see real or reel kaise connect hua 😆
good morning bol dete ha kya fark padta ha 😊

@ TheMockingBird I haven't watched the other shows so can't comment on them but we clearly have different views on RK's characterisation which is ok as he is fiction at the end of the day.
It takes all kinds to make the world and I would'nt generalise audiences as regressive or progressive based on their taste in fiction.
However that is my opinion and I have total respect for yours.
