So my doubt is if people do wear such dresses or it's just in shows.

Well people actually do wear modern dresses as shown in TV. Even the ladies from conservative family when get chance do wear modern dresses, wear them.

My own sister-in-law wears them when she goes out with her husband in other city. She lives in town with her in-laws that doesn't give her much freedom.

Dressing is much more about being comfortable. I live in the city & I am not comfortable with too revealing dresses & wearing one just makes me too conscious of my dressing, something I don't like. Even my aunt in Delhi is working but hates to wear backless blouses even when her husband often tells her to try one. But there are people, who can carry them with ease & comfort, so they wear them. It's also about accepting such dresses in family. Some family accept them easily, some don't & then it's about personal choices. And I have mix of them.

I don't live in India
Wear saree seldom
Not comfortable in it
Always go for jeans and tops
So ...can't comment
But backless blouses will be comfy during summer
No blouse also will be fine
Individual freedom guys 😆

Thanks dear. As I mentioned people here twist words and misinterpret intentionally. I have not been to Lucknow and so have no idea how people dress there. I have only to kerala, AP and Karnataka. Not sure why people are so trigger Happy with the report button. Already folks are clarified that people do wear such blouses with traditional saree and my doubt is clarified. Anyway I hope this discussion comes to rest at least now

Some people are sensitive. It can happen to anyone.

I think North India is much more open to dressing experiments, atleast in some families, especially Delhi-NCR region. There are still who frown on such dressing especially in conservative areas. There are still many who love to stick to the traditional dressing style.

In Lucknow, people wear sarees which are not that revealing, jeans-top and suits. Too much revealing is little frowned there as well. As said, all sort of dressing is going on now-a-days. But too much revealing dresses are still frowned by many.

Some members of my family would like Nandini's dressing, some would like Kunal's mom dressing better. All about choice & comfort.

It a serial thing only, women are always decked up ...how will all of us react on seeing nandini on the bus stop ? Like was she wearing clothes suitable for travelling or even stepping out and travelling in auto? We deck up like that on weddings.. . However I always liked Dd's backless blouses . She normally wears them in all serials . And they suit her . And in our society (north Indians) backless kya, in sometime girls might stop wearing blouses 😆 with saarees..Bollywood nai dekha..north is worse than that ..not all girls for a few , and it's their choice ..hum Kya kahein

The serials are like that only.
Even after abuse
Even after rape
Even after miscarriage
Even after your husband tries to sell you
Even after being in most difficult situations
The heroine will be decked up all the time.
Writers just wont match the situation with clothes.

In ipkynd anjali was shown devoid of all make up and good sarees when shayam was thrown out of the house.
She was a side character.

There is a difference in between sleeveless blouse and 95% backless blouse .

What character nandini wears is 95 % backless blouse . Nandini was Mrs Rajdeep Thakur once upon a time whose main job(given by her husband) was to get a client for husband's business using her beauty so rajdeep has trained her in such a way who wears 95% backless blouse in daily routine being house wife . Rajdeep has always used nandini' beauty for his own benefit and after living in that culture for 7 years, now nandini is well trained in wearing such type of blouses .

Mauli is always living in more civilized culture and being doctor, her job is not dependent on her beauty so never needs to expose herself by wearing backless cloths on work place or at home.

Nandini belongs to Lucknow but since she was living with rajdeep for seven years and rajdeep had given her job to get a client using her beauty so now nandini is used to with almost backless blouse with saree.

i havent watched all epis.
I do remember rdeep screaming at N for spoiling manicure before meeting his next client Kunal.
So yes rdeep made N wear clothes and get beauty treatment to attract clients.
N has completely adopted it .
Yesterday or in the precap she was shown getting decked up to meet K
