I understand that there are relationships like this in real life. What is being depicted is not untrue. But I dislike the way women are shown to accept it. As if it is nothing less than they deserve.

I know someone who was in an abusive relationship. She was married at 19, and her husband turned out to be a monster. When she finally, decided to leave that man, her sister helped her in getting a divorce. They sued the man for all he was worth, and had him deported.
I was quite young, but I'll never forget the look on her father's face, when he was in the emergency room, waiting to here how she was after her latest and most horrible beating. It was if he were in actual physical pain. I could almost hear him trying to breath, and not quite succeeding. It had been a love marriage, but he still blamed himself for letting his daughter marry that loser.

My point is, yes women are put through a lot in life. And no, you don't have to live in rural parts of the world for this to happen. And in real life there may not always be a way out. But television is not a place to portray this horrible view of life. Every unhappy daughter and wife watching receives the message that this happens in life, and that they must simply cope.

What this show should be doing, is saying, yes this happens, but you don't have to put up with it. Your family will be dishounorned? Your remaining sisters will be unable to get good rishtas? Well in the real world, at the end of the day, what kind of father would want his daughter to live like that? What kind of sister would be happy marrying into a good family, when she knows her own sister is in pain (or unhappy)? The horrible message this show sets out, may be true, but its not the whole truth.

In real life there is no audience. No one cries silently while watching your every injustice. Your husband slapped you? Well, in real life, you pick yourself up, excuse yourself, and quietly go and make dinner. There is no recognition for your behaviour. And your daughters grow up thinking that this is marriage. A message that is then reinforced on daytime shows. So instead of dreaming of love, they learn to prepare themselves for the "reality" of marriage. Your sons grow up thinking this is how women should be treated. Mistreatment is wrong, whether it is physical abuse, emotional abuse, or infidelity.

Again, sorry if I've offended everyone. I just dislike how horribly men are portrayed in hindi shows sometimes. In order to portray women in a so-called "strong" and positive light, this show has sacrificed practically every male character. Men don't need to be portrayed horribly in order for women to shine.

Television can be a place to portray this horrible way of life. However, I would prefer if these dramas would show strong women who take action and stand up for themselves rather than suffer silently and it would be nice if they did it as soon as they could. The message should be that even though these women are in bad situations, they can help themselves. Instead, they glamorize this kind of lifestyle to some extent. Just look at the name of the show "Shubh Vivah". What's so "shubh" about it?

@the topic maker i just said don't see the show if u don't like it...m also fan of eijaz only watching the show for him😳...i have seen evryone's views but it is too early to say anything slowly i hope things will change i don't think saroj will tolerate things beyond limits... making such topics will lower the interest of viewers so just requested u dear nothing else...

So far, Saroj tolerated physical abuse - a slap. That is beyond limits. I don't know what else is going to happen before she actually stands up for herself...

Just like how you said earlier that if someone does not like the show, they don't need to watch it, anyone else can say that if you don't like certain topics on this forum, you don't need to read them or comment on them. To make you feel at ease, I doubt one topic will make hundreds of viewers scream in horror and cancel their Sony subscriptions. If people don't agree with the topic or don't care about it, they won't take it seriously and keep watching the show. There is no problem for the original poster or anyone else to discuss such things.

I also like Eijaz by the way and disagree with the commenter that said he was ugly 😉

I like the irony in you "no comments" comment 😆

But really, I'm not trying to pick on you or anything. It's a pet peeve of mine when people tell others to not post negative things about a show for the sake of remaining positive and upbeat. I'm sure you'll understand 😊

Okay, so this is my first time posting on the forums for Shubh Vivah. I am a Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon fan through and through and there is a lot of abuse in that show, but not like this. I watch Pratigya, Diya Aur Baati, Sajda Tere Pyaar...pretty much everything. This is the one show to bother me this much. There is no redemption here like you guys have been saying. It's just shown as a normal part of daily life and I think that's terrible. I'm confused as to if Ejaz Khan's character is a good character or the evil one here. I don't understand why sudden fits of violence just randomly break out and I cried a little for Saroj when she was slapped. No girl should have to go through that. I'm really upset with the show. I was hoping for some redemption for Ejaz's character and I watched it hoping he would be redeemed but he just went to Sarla and slept with her again. What's with this adultery anyways? I agree... I probably won't be watching this show because the hero is not a hero... he's one of the worst types of villains and has no good qualities. No sense of guilt or thought...very upsetting. At least in the other show there is some guilt and thought and layers to the characters.

That's so true. The name of the show is the reason I started watching it. Well that, and the fact that Eijaz is in it 😆. I don't get whats shubh about this relationship. Anyways, after my four essays in this thread, I'm all written out. But still, sucks that this is what passes for entertainment. Think of all the talent. One of the sisters (who has barely had two lines) use to star in her own Sony show, called Aathvaan Vachan. And she was quite good. This show takes all this talent, and does, well, this 🤢. Not very smart.

Completely agree. I've seen Pratigya and Maryada where there's an abusive husband. But despite seeing all of those shows, this show made me sick to my stomach when he slapped Saroj like that w/out any hesitation or regret afterwards. I already want them to separate
