Okay, if they're showing that, what do people thing of Shalya (not Shalva) being shown as a Jarasandha ally? Since there's nothing suggesting that in SB

One question about Balarama - he was known as 'Halayudha' - but wasn't his plow more for civilian/agricultural work, rather than war? In war, he was the #1 mace fighter, and tutor of both Bhima and Duryodhan. Another thing - I like how they showed him fighting w/ bow and arrow, particularly in Rukmini's abduction later: I've never liked 1 dimensional descriptions of him where he only fights w/ mace. Similarly, BRC screwed it for Krishna for only showing him w/ the sudarashan.

Another thing that struck me about the battle episode: if Krishna had told Balarama earlier (now I'm going just by the serial, since there's nothing in SB, not sure about the others) not to kill Jarasandha b'cos he wants Mathura to be a honeypot for all of Jarasandha's allies, then why didn't he remind Dau of their agreement when Balarama was close to killing Jarasandha?

It's mentioned that Madra Naresh supported Jarasangh

Both Krishna and Balarama used all weapons during battles, just like any other prince or royal person did in that era. Balarama excelled in the plough just as he did at mace, but he was good at sword fighting too, though to a lesser extent. The plough he mostly used for agricultural purposes, but there are some instances he used it in battle too.

As for Dau almost killing Jarasandh, I think Krishna wanted Jarasandth to be on the brink of death and then being denied it, thereby leading to his humiliation not once, but multiple times. Krishna really wanted to destroy whatever was left of Jarasandh's arrogance and ego, and we don't know how successful he was at that, but at least Jarasandh didn't attack them in Dwaraka, so he may have gotten the message by then, lol.

I don't think that he had got the message.

Rather there was still enimity so he didn't want Rukmi's sister married to Krishna

More than that I don't think he remained in Dwarika for long before Jarasangh's death. Jarasangh would have needed time to regroup and attack again after having been descimated. Plus Dwarika was a far off land with difficult terrain. It would have taken all the more time to plan an attack there. So I guess there was a bigger halt this time

Where?

There was a ruler named Shalva. (It's not clear that this is the same Shalva who was defeated by Bheeshma during the abduction of Amba/Ambika/Ambalika: it probably was not). He was a great friend of Sishupala, and after his death, got boons from Shiva that gave him a powerful flying chariot, and deadly weapons, and w/ that, he besieged Dwarka. This was during the Rajasuya Yagna aftermath in Indraprastha, where Krishna & Balarama were still there. Pradhyumna and Krishna's other sons destroyed his army, but Krishna returned in time and asked Pradhyumna and Balarama to protect Vasudev and Ugrasena while he dealt w/ Shalva.

Madra naresh - the uncle of Nakul/Sahadev - was there in Draupadi's swayamvara and was one of the objectors and fought a disguised Bhima, since the mace was his primary weapon as well. But in the open, he was very supportive of the Pandavas, and therefore Krishna as well. It was just tragic that he was tricked into joining the Kauravas.

Another question: during Rukmini's marriage discussions, it was mentioned that Bheeshmaka's dynasty was a Suryavanshi dynasty. But the evidence seems to suggest otherwise: after Rukmi was defeated and couldn't therefore return to Kundinpur, he built a new city called Bhojakot - meaning fort of the Bhojas. Since when were Bhojas Suryavanshis?

I think Jarasandha was happy that he had succeeded in driving the Yadavas out of Mathura, so even after he got news that Krishna and Balarama had survived the mountain fire, he was content to let that be.

After that, they had one more battle - at Rukmini's swayamvara, which was Balarama's greatest achievement: he alone defeated Jarasandha, Shalva, Sishupala and everyone else, while allowing Rukmi to chase Krishna. Incidentally, I'd have liked to see Krishna give Rukmi his unique haircut, which DBSK showed, but this serial didn't.

Following that, it was mainly Sishupala who was embittered by all this, and who would launch guerilla attacks on Dwarka, but get spared b'cos of Krishna's promise to his mother. On one occasion, Sishupala even raped a bride of Akrura. All of those crimes were what added to his 'pot of sins' - it wasn't 100 galias at Indraprastha alone
