My reponse in whatever color this is... Baingani color?

One of my favourite episodes where the intelligence of Anokhi is meted out against Shaurya cunning questions. Let us look at each individual today:

Aastha, is fighting tooth and nail for Anokhi. Her phone call to Shaan was quite rude according to me, No how are you even out of politeness, she goes direct to the subject of Anokhi. Aastha feels she has enough right over Shaan to request him to look after Anokhi and doing everything for Anokhi, but why is it that when it came to her son, she abandoned him to the Sabherwals...? This is something not acceptable to me... How can you be strong for Anokhi but not for your child. How is it you did not contact your husband for the last 25 years to enquire about your son?

IKR!! It is so strange of Aastha to do that when she is shown as a strong independent woman. This is the only inconsistent part in SAAKK. Sometimes she claimed that she came to see Shaurya but wasn't ALLOWED to do so.

In the patch up episode, she said she saw him from a distance all the time. Why not take a chance and approach him? He admits that he missed her always.

In post accident episode, she said she couldn't gather courage to come SH and meet him, but Anokhi did.

Shaan has always been a weak man and I believe Aastha knew it even before she married him, but still she expected a lot from him then and now. It looks like Shaan always needed that one phone call to come out of his stupor/sorrow/ drunken state. It never happened during these 25 years...

Shaan looks like a caring and emotional man. Just that phone call had him all emotional...

Shaan looks a self-centered man. Much like the rest of Sabherwal men. At some point, even Shaurya was. It is a sign of male-entitlement rewarded to them as a part of their upbringing.

Notice how Shaan always spoke of his pain of separation for 25 years but never spoke of how Shaurya grew up with his parents for 25 years. Or how did Aastha live those 25 yrs. It was like, Aastha is a strong independent woman, she had it easy, she didn't suffer through the same pain of separation from her husband and son.

Shaurya's anger when he sees Shaan caring for Anokhi and ensuring she has eaten, again points out to the fact that he has never got any such caring attention from any of his parents...reinforcing his abandonment issues...

TBH, my heart breaks at his jealousy. The way he looks at Shaan shows his distaste and anger for those years of neglect.

The interview:

Anokhi needs to stand so she can be on eye level with Shaurya....

Reaction around the table when Anokhi starts answering:

Two lady teachers: Admiration

Shaan: pride

Tej and Alok: Awe and Fright

Shaurya: Anger and Irritation, but at the same time a start of admiration at the depth of her knowledge.

Forgot to say, Tej could have killed Alok for his stupid comment about Tulsidas and anokhi having to explain to him...

The dream of Anokhi is so pure: Learn to be strong and capable to take care of those in need, be it her mother, sister, or anybody else..

The first 'takkar' of Shakhi is just riveting and the sparks have already started to fly...

Also, that moment when Shaurya was corrected by her in that Sherlock Holmes question was so epic. Shaurya's ego was bruised so bad for the first time 🤣

I love baigan ka bharta...so ok.

My take of Shaan is he is very weak as a man but a good human being. If you recall the scene when Aastha was leaving Sabherwal House, while Aastha was having argument with Tej and Co, Shaan was insoucient and playing with Shaurya. His strength is Aastha, and without her he is nothing.

I do not see the Sabherwal traits of Tej and Alok in him.

In fact Shaurya initially showed those misogynist trait as he was moulded by DM in that way. But once he meets Anokhi and starts discovering himself, his inate self comes out as a strong but emotional and caring person. Strength he got from Aastha but care and good nature from Shaan.

And yes, Watson, is the first wave of the Anokhi tsunami and Shaurya got it full face and came out for breath....😃

The whole interview is my favourite in the serial itself. It was so on an intellectual level compared to itv standards. I watch it countless number of times and still am in awe of it. Hatsoff for showing such a wonderful interview to the writer and makers.

I love the interview episodes..

First time I have seen such a well written script for an interview, especially since it concerns academia so they needed to do a lot of research. Otherwise what we usually see are the first few words and then the whole process is muted...

Shaurya's expressions are to kill for...

Anokhi is so innocent there and all keen to show her worth...and deserves her place in SIAC

One shade of male superiority is not accepting the fault or saying sorry. I think Shaan has that shade.

He never admitted that he made a mistake. He wanted a second chance but never said sorry for making a mistake in his first chance. It struck to me all the time he tried to mend things with Aastha.

And even Aastha being a mom and worrying about "meri Anokhi". Anokhi herself is so positive and so self-confident. Anokhi's dream is so reflective of her life. She wants to study as much as she wants. She wants to learn. She wants to be capable and worthy. She wants to support those that need her, like her mom and sister. She wants to be like her Aastha ma'am. After seeing the lovefest between Shastha and Anokhi, I was annoyed for Shaurya. It must hurt him to see his dad be so chummy with a stranger because she's connected to his mom.

True! shastha were always foster parents to her. And the way Shaan instantly bonds with her and is able to feel the innate goodness in her is just beautiful. Shaan started to help her for aastha but i think after meeting her it was he himself driving her case because of who she was. I think everyone saw that "hurt", only his parents never understood.

INTERVIEW TIME!! I loved the swag with which the Sabherwal men came in. The slow-mo walk!! There was an underlying Shaurya versus Shaan component to the interview. Anokhi walked in with two of her biggest cheerleaders cheering her on with jugni playing. How apt!

~ English or Hindi? - He was taking a jab at her so bad and then looking at his father every time she flustered

~ Starts with Psychology......."har memory ki saath emotions jude hue hote hai" Kind of loved how she explained this one

~ Shaurya is so petty, he jumped to Economics. hahaha...true. Petty and frustrated because she is good!

~ Then jumped to Literature with Shakespeare and Preet lari....and the trick questions. Is Preet Lari in East or West Punjab? Shaurya had such a cat that caught the canary smirk. Anokhi is too smart for him! 🤣

~ Bhiwanker askes about 3 poets and the answer even teaches Alok something! This i cannot get over. I have no clue how Tej has not already disowned Alok!

~ Anokhi recites 5 lines from Tagore and was stopped with 'bas bas bas'. No one can take this girl's intelligence. hmmm...does make sense

~ "Elementary, my dear Watson" wasn't meant to trick, but allowed Anokhi to educate Mr. Shaurya Sabherwal. Shaan was impressed and Shaurya angered.🤣 It was fun to watch Shaurya here. I enjoyed his anger

~ Tej would of course ask about Maryada versus Izzat. "Maryada bina izzat kaise?" How is this an interview question? What?!?!

~ Class topper was awarded by Shaurya.......a mention that brings back bad memories! And petty Shaurya tries to get into a war of words with our ace debater!! A war he has never won, honestly! She never listens!

Precap: Interview Part 2!

The interview episodes are so wonderfully written, directed, and acted by all! - EXACTLY!!!

Also realised, that shaurya made the whole thing personal from day 1, ( or Anoki made it personal on day 0 with her interveining in that argument), this professional thing was never going to work, was it? It became too personal too soon.

Aastha was more intuitive as a parent than Shaan ever was. She understood why Shaurya acted certain way. She picked up on Shaurya's feeling for Anokhi. She made him understand later that he shouldn't agree to marry Shagun for his Badi Ma. But Shaan was a let down as a parent until towards the end. Shaurya was just too quick to forgive his parents. Because if they saw the "hurt" but didn't address it, it's even worse!

Anokhi was our star! There was no way she was ever going to not get her way. Especially when Shaurya also turned into her stan!!😉

As soon as Aastha connected Shaurya and Anokhi, it was already personal. There was not even an attempt at maintaining professional decorum between them.
