One of my favourite episodes where the intelligence of Anokhi is meted out against Shaurya cunning questions. Let us look at each individual today:
Aastha, is fighting tooth and nail for Anokhi. Her phone call to Shaan was quite rude according to me, No how are you even out of politeness, she goes direct to the subject of Anokhi. Aastha feels she has enough right over Shaan to request him to look after Anokhi and doing everything for Anokhi, but why is it that when it came to her son, she abandoned him to the Sabherwals...? This is something not acceptable to me... How can you be strong for Anokhi but not for your child. How is it you did not contact your husband for the last 25 years to enquire about your son?
Shaan has always been a weak man and I believe Aastha knew it even before she married him, but still she expected a lot from him then and now. It looks like Shaan always needed that one phone call to come out of his stupor/sorrow/ drunken state. It never happened during these 25 years...
Shaan looks like a caring and emotional man. Just that phone call had him all emotional...
Anokhi: She is intelligent enough to sense a relationship somehow between Shaan and Aastha and had the guts to ask, but as usual Shaan (as aastha) refused to address her query. Why hide the fact they are separated? Are they ashamed of it?
Shaurya's anger when he sees Shaan caring for Anokhi and ensuring she has eaten, again points out to the fact that he has never got any such caring attention from any of his parents...reinforcing his abandonment issues...
The interview:
Anokhi needs to stand so she can be on eye level with Shaurya....
Reaction around the table when Anokhi starts answering:
Two lady teachers: Admiration
Shaan: pride
Tej and Alok: Awe and Fright
Shaurya: Anger and Irritation, but at the same time a start of admiration at the depth of her knowledge.
Forgot to say, Tej could have killed Alok for his stupid comment about Tulsidas and anokhi having to explain to him...
The dream of Anokhi is so pure: Learn to be strong and capable to take care of those in need, be it her mother, sister, or anybody else..
The first 'takkar' of Shakhi is just riveting and the sparks have already started to fly...
Interview hai ji Interview aaj Nikki puttar ka!
so, finally shaan comes in and shaurya immediately exits!! (hmmm..)
I loved how shaan and anokhi bonded from their first meet, the breakfast scene and that father daughter bonding. Shaan is capable of so much love. Only if he had not taken to the bottle.😭 This happy bonding pierces Shaurya's heart, he deserved this love from his father but never got any. That is why he wants Anokhi to fail, because she is not better than him and is a constant reminder of Aastha.
Shastha Conversation was beautiful. The scene was acted so well. A couple so in love, has nothing to say? I love how their silence speaks. But why shaan? WHY? I myself keep wondering is shaan trying to redeem himself through Anokhi?
The interview. The arrogance of the Sabs is visible in their walk. Tej is confident she will fail. Alok wants entertainment and Shaurya wants to make her fail. I love the interview because its questions remind me of actual studies and school life. The hesitation on her face initially before she gets into a flow, he confusion on trick questions and hew will to call Shaurya out on a wrong fact was very well done. I would have liked it to be a tad bit more professional but i guess ITV. Shaury tried to be such a bully here. Indirect insults and jabs and nikki took it all with grace
Notice the back and forth between Shaan's and Shaurya's expression. Shaurya wants shaan to notice when she fails. Behind that anger is pure insecurity and hurt.
Side Note 1: How tiny is Anokhi!!!!!😆 I noticed she was wearing flat shoes and dear lord the table was more than half of her height!!!! She looked like a cute school girl!
Side note 2: Loved how Tej looked at Alok like he was close to disowning him for not knowing about tulsidas!🤣
The Anokhi and Shaan interaction before the interview is everything Shaurya wants. A supportive father that gives a damn! It's so nice to see Shaan be a dad that Anokhi also needs. And even Aastha being a mom and worrying about "meri Anokhi". Anokhi herself is so positive and so self-confident. Anokhi's dream is so reflective of her life. She wants to study as much as she wants. She wants to learn. She wants to be capable and worthy. She wants to support those that need her, like her mom and sister. She wants to be like her Aastha ma'am. After seeing the lovefest between Shastha and Anokhi, I was annoyed for Shaurya. It must hurt him to see his dad be so chummy with a stranger because she's connected to his mom.
INTERVIEW TIME!! I loved the swag with which the Sabherwal men came in. The slow-mo walk!! There was an underlying Shaurya versus Shaan component to the interview. Anokhi walked in with two of her biggest cheerleaders cheering her on with jugni playing. How apt!
~ English or Hindi?
~ Starts with Psychology......."har memory ki saath emotions jude hue hote hai"
~ Shaurya is so petty, he jumped to Economics.
~ Then jumped to Literature with Shakespeare and Preet lari....and the trick questions. Is Preet Lari in East or West Punjab? Shaurya had such a cat that caught the canary smirk. Anokhi is too smart for him!
~ Bhiwanker askes about 3 poets and the answer even teaches Alok something!
~ Anokhi recites 5 lines from Tagore and was stopped with 'bas bas bas'. No one can take this girl's intelligence.
~ "Elementary, my dear Watson" wasn't meant to trick, but allowed Anokhi to educate Mr. Shaurya Sabherwal. Shaan was impressed and Shaurya angered.
~ Tej would of course ask about Maryada versus Izzat. "Maryada bina izzat kaise?"
~ Class topper was awarded by Shaurya.......a mention that brings back bad memories! And petty Shaurya tries to get into a war of words with our ace debater!!
Precap: Interview Part 2!
The interview episodes are so wonderfully written, directed, and acted by all!

When we compare Shastha and ShaKhi, the equation you described between Shastha comparatively is what makes ShaKhi superior. Shaurya is not weak like Shaan, because he lucky to have a mix of Aastha's strong personality. Aastha is such a rigid personality that she wasn't willing to bend at all. Anokhi on the other hand has some Rama in her that makes her mature but also gives her a high threshold of patience. This made the ShaKhi relationship work. Shaurya stands by his decisions and is so righteous like Aastha and Anokhi is willing to let emotions rule her. And where Anokhi becomes rigid, Shaurya is willing to walk towards her and meet her expectations and fight with her and for her.
@bold: I loved that small scene where Shaurya got restless and got up and Anokhi got up with him because otherwise she'd be on uneven ground. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed.

YES! Shaurya has a need to prove that Anokhi is not better than him and not more deserving of his parents' love, support, attention, and affection! Anokhi being around means he has to face his own insecurities.
side note 1: Anokhi looked so little because she was in those shoes Babli gave her. Probably whey she got heels later.
Anokhi are you ok? From Shaan was all that was needed for Shaurya to feel bitter about feeling missed out on being cared for and leave the place. And why not? He has still in him the child who has seen his only parent present take to drinking instead of paying attention to him.
What happened to this Shaan all these years? His bond with Anokhi is lovable. The way he cares for her and makes sure she is fine by making her have breakfast.. was this all the effect of one phone call? I wonder… would he have not taken to drinking and cared for his own child had Astha called him and spoken to him after she left? What made their relation so sour that Astha couldn’t keep communication open atleast for her child? All these questions haunt me unless there is a s2 and deal with it.
I think the way Astha directly jumps to asking Anokhis welfare without even a proper how are you to Shaan shows that Astha is very clear that she is worried only about Anokhi and didn’t want to make Shaan hopeful about their relationship. However I felt it a bit rude as our usual conversation with even a stranger starts off on a different note.
Shaan (with a smile) sitting with Anokhi at the table and Anokhi having breakfast is a sight for sore eyes for us as audience but for Shaurya it is sore for his eyes.
All the Sabherwal men looked like lions entering their territory ready to pounce on the victim, especially Mr Shaurya Sabherwal. Even though Anokhi looks a bit worried she is no less confident and has her mother’s and guru’s blessings along with her wealth of knowledge. With jugni song playing in the background it looked like she was ready to beard the lion.
My favourite part… the interview where Anokhi proves her worth and is proud to have given a tough competition to the very Knowledgeble professor and even correct him with his facts. Ss’s face was worth watching both awestruck with her performance but perturbed that it’s difficult to reject her as a student now that she has surpassed even the committee in terms of her knowledge.
Given a chance Tej would’ve killed Alok for his nonsensical question by the looks of him.
The ladies being on the impartial side, unaware of the situation looked very impressed by Anokhi’s intelligence.
