Aastha is an angel for Anokhi! ❤️

I think post leaving the saberwal house, aastha has helped many women and experienced many more women face issues. Hence as soon as she got to know, she gave anokhi the soundest advise.

"Allow" , aastha taught anokhi what she already belived, see how it circles back to her own son later. The simple word "allow". Yes, no woman needs to be allowed. Not now. Not ever. For anything. Loud and clear aastha❤️

Another problem of society highlighted , the fake NRI marriage issues that used to happen a lot earlier. Aastha sharing her experience with the naive anokhi and telling her to be extremely careful about fake and regressive NRI's was so good to see. Women looking out for women. What her parents should have done, she did. No wonder anokhi already considered her a mother. Aastha is the call of truth. She shows both shaurya and anokhi the mirror. When she asked anokhi did she herself belive monty was the moment of the day for me!

Seeing Anokhi desperately justify her decision to aastha and fail was heartbreaking. But both teacher and student understood without words what the other was trying to say. Anokhi and trains...the way that sound gives her clarity!

Monty is an A******. Period. Such men do exist sadly. Again a true reflection of the society. You can live anywhere in the world and still be a regressive A**.

Today we saw the importance of a support system for girls who are going through what Anokhi is facing.

In this instance it is Asthaa her teacher who is there to open her eyes and make her reflect on what could be the potential outcome of this marriage.

Felt sorry for Anokhi who believes naively that her in laws would actually 'allow' her to continue her studies.

It is very important that this issue of a girl being allowed to do something gas been raised by the makers. Girls have this tendency to believe it is the norm to ask for permission after her marriage when it should not be the case. Hats off to the creative.

Another person whom we would least expect and who helps Anokhi in her decision is her cousin Dolly.

Sometimes God sends help in the most unexpected form and it is up to us to recognise that help.

As for Monty, the way he is talking about Anokhi is like he has a horse that needs to be tamed or something along those lines. It is a pity he needed to be an NRI, when in fact this is a trait present in many misogynist.

Looking forward to tomorrow....

Astha and Dolly save the day and future indirectly for Anokhi. Though Anokhi took the reins later.

Even though Anokhi informed about the grooms family allowing her to study further Astha was quick to grasp that all Nris are not trust worthy snd narrated one of the incidents her student witnessed and this got Anokhi into some real thinking. Astha sowed the seed of doubt in her mind and Dolly’s words gave some confirmation of the same.

Anokhi being the Anokhi she is checks on Monty to seek the truth and assurance.

Monty he is such an A******. Lucky that Nicky caught him talking all the crap and recorded his utterly obnoxious conversation with Dolly’s husband.

The only person who can really save her is Mr Bhalla. He himself turns against her and this leads to Nikki taking the reins and not trusting anyone especially men to be on her side.

The word allow and permission have been highlighted through out till now and Astha was shocked to know that a girl like Anokhi is seeking permission when she very well is aware that education is every girls right. Astha’s character is consistent in the sense that she is a strong supporter of women’s empowerment and wouldn’t want any girl to give up on her dreams. This along with her father’s ill treatment of girls leads to what Anokhi has actually become when she meets Shaurya.

I just realised how true your statement is, infact most girls need a support system because someone or the other keeps feeding or imposing patriarchal concepts on them. Most of us need some additional support. Be it in form of aastha for anokhi or a sibling/friend/teacher etc for so many more women.

Anokhi is naive and that is something that has ben maintained throughout the run of the show. She is refreshing as a character though.

This was delayed because I was concentrating on the twitter trend. We hit 1 million! Let's hope it has some effect! Onto the episode!

Today's episode gave us a window into why Anokhi is the way she is when it comes to her education and her fragile trust in men.

Aastha taught her that education is her haq. It's not something she needs permission for or to compromise to acquire. These words came back after the sindoor shaadi. Anokhi's fear is that her education will not be supported or made a priority. Aastha talked about modern looks but regressive soch. That is the definition of the Sabherwal family. They show off their status on the outside but on the inside they keep the women tied to the home and rearing children.

Anokhi did compromise for the sake of her mom and she was thrown into the lion's den by her family. Mr.Bhalla didn't care to check out the family. Anokhi, a 2nd year college student and class topper, is being married off to a 10th pass. I'm don't like judging people on their education because it doesn't equal intelligence. But to act like Anokhi's only option is Monty because he has a Canadian passport is bullshit. That's why in the end she got the most eligible bachelor - Shaurya Sabherwal. Jo Tera Howega, Zaroor Aayega!

I'm so proud of Anokhi. She's so smart - to record Monty spewing all his bullshit. Monty admitted to playing her. He insinuated that it was revenge for her choosing the prize ceremony over meeting him for a rishta. He promised to break her little by little. He called his biwi a glorified naukrani. This scene reminded me why Anokhi couldn't trust Shaurya's love confession after seeing him on a date with Shagun. Anokhi trusted her eyes. She asked him what game he was playing. She thought it was some sort of revenge. It was her PTSD. Her experience with Monty left her with a lot of trust issues, especially with her Papaji, Bhai, and Jiju being just as bad.

Side notes:

~ Anokhi switched from Sociology to Economics. She was meant to be in Shaurya's class.

~ Seeing Anokhi in that white hoodie reminded me of Shaurya in his black hoodie at the hospital.

~ We need a side by side of Anokhi with her trophies. With the first picture she was hearing Shaurya's voice and remembering the hand off. For the second picture, he was present to celebrate and take that picture of her.

~ Shoutout to Dolly for looking out for her little cousin. She might be a typical bahu ready to reign in her home but she spilled the truth on Monty.

I had forgotten some of these Aastha/Anokhi scenes. I remembered Anokhi's speech had talked about permission, but it was Aastha that really reiterated and cemented those ideas in Anokhi's head. And it did come back to affect her son, but it also changed him for the better.

It's not just the fake NRI marriages, it's the fact that families send their girls to far away places(inaccessible to them) without being able to really check out the family's authenticity. People take a leap of faith that they're securing their children's lives. If Shoki told Dolly then obviously the Khannas truth is known to people in Bathinda. Mr. Bhalla should have taken the time to look into it all.

It's more acceptable for a boy to question his parents and rebel than it is for a girl. Girls are groomed since birth to seek permission and allowance. Boys are needed by parents for their old age so they dare not control him in the same way. A girl is paraya dhan, just waiting to be handed off to another home. There's so much we as women have to unlearn that's been drilled into us in such subtle ways.

I loved that Aastha opened Anokhi's eyes to the truth and Dolly gave her the truth. And Anokhi being Anokhi chose to confront and get evidence. And Monty was conveying he same things the Sabherwals do. Women are to take care of the household and children; just as Devi, Gayatri, and Kanchan were expected to do. Anokhi even fell into the trap of an ideal bahu, all because she loved Shaurya.

I like that this is a running theme in the show. Apart from the love story, they really highlighted the role of women in society.
