Hey, guys!

New to this forum - discovered and binged this show only this week after a sudden notification from Hotstar. It's been a fun ride, definitely interesting, especially because I haven't watched an itv show in close to two years. The spark and fire between these two is amazing with a potential for a lot of promising stuff ahead, hoping the CVs deliver!

Coming to the back story, I see a lot of people still have questions about it, but I felt that everything has already been revealed. Obviously, there will be bits and pieces added through the episodes to make the story to show how Aastha didn't really have much choice - just like we saw in today's epi. But let's look at what we know so far.

1) Shaan and Aastha were college sweethearts and got married.

2) Post their marriage, Aastha was asked to give up her career because the Sabherwal women didn't work. Because she loved Shaan so much, she agreed without a fuss.

3) Fast forward 5 years, they're a happy fam with a four-year old Shaurya who's the apple of their eyes.

4) Aastha's brother dies in a car accident leaving her old parents without anyone to support them. Aastha feels she needs to step up and support and so decides to work - but the Sabherwals don't agree.

5) Aastha tries to reason it out with Tej who doesn't budge, she asks Shaan to intervene and support her which he does, but not strongly enough.

6) Aastha finally decides to leave. She wants to take Shaurya along but he's literally snatched out of her arms by Devi and no one says a word, not even Shaan. Also, I do recall hearing in one of the episodes that Devi had threatened Aastha with legal action (driven by their power) if she dared to try take Shaurya.

7) Later, Aastha implies in one of the episodes that for Shaan and Shaurya's peace, she didn't even go the legal route and gave up on them.

8) Devi kept feeding crap about Aastha to Shaurya, and Shaan never once stopped to explain the truth to him. (Also, the whole mahaanta story about not having their own kid so that Shaurya could have their undivided attention reeks of manipulation too. I'm pretty sure that Tej and Devi may have medical reasons for not being able to have their own child and so jumped on snatching Shaurya the first chance they got.)

9) Obviously, there may have been umpteen instances later on through the years when Aastha tried to reach out to Shaurya and it was always blocked by Devi.

To me, Shaan is the one who's responsible for the miserable lives of all three of them. He failed to support Aastha when she needed it the most. She gave up her career for his family ideals but when it came to her family being in need, Shaan failed her. He could have strongly and vocally supported her before the Sabherwals or he could have moved out with her. He was too weak for either - merely out of respect/gratitude/obligation towards Tej and Devi? Too lame an excuse. He could have tried to keep Aastha and Shaurya in touch, doesn't look like he did that either.

It took him 25 years to gain back his voice but it's 25 years too late and there's irreparable damage done.

Now to Shaurya finally learning the truth about Aastha, I don't want it to happen overnight. It will be best done organically because it is too deep a wound to just heal it overnight. Also, I feel for Shaurya and Anokhi's clash of ideals to continue, Aastha's truth won't be out too soon either. Let's see what the CVs have in store. I don't know much about the original version but I have high hopes for this one given the potential in the story.

There are many elements in this story i didnt know!

Becoz i cant access hotstar but, now i think i need to watch it from somewhere else!

So a big thankyou for jotting these down.

A shocker for me is the accident of brother. With this reason, i am in confusion what to say; astha working to taking care of parents vs a future of a child. Either way, its a loss for astha. Still, i couldnot make myself ok with the fact k she left shaurya with this bitter upbringing.

Though a major culprit here for me is shaan. Aesi muhabbat ka faida kia hai 🤦

Well..I'm currently doing a lil work will be back with a proper reply.

But just one another point i want to point out! Devi and teiz doesn't have their own child. Well some said they decided to not have their own child bcz of shaurya. (After astha left and they took shaurya as their son) but my question is that tine shaurya was already 5 years old. And definitely bari papa and bari maa ki shadi to bohut pehlei huya tha. To shayra ki 5 saal hotey hotey bhi unko koyi children kyu nahi huya?

I have got this feeling they are...at least one of them is impotent. And jaise unka soch hein they will never have the mentality to adopt a child from orphanages! To shayed isiliye devi mouke ka fayda utha kar shaurya ko snatched kar liya astha sy.

Plus she definitely had issues with astha before even asthaa's leaving that house. To uska bhi badla type le liya.

Upar sy shaurya is a SON! typical hier fact! So may be thats why devi was so up for snatching and keeping shaurya away from asthaa. ( bas dukh hein ki asthaa ny devi ki gandi irade ko mouka de diya....but I'm still hoping cv gonna give a us a strong reason of asthaa taking that step..leaving her son and hubby that time.)

Bas fikar shaurya ki hein. In saab mein pis gaya woh bechara!

[Do ignore my mistakes and errors as i write it in a hurry] 😅

I never knew the entire back story of Astha so thanks for updating it👍 I too feel Shaan is at fault for not standing with his wife when she needed him the most and now his actions are paying off.

Shaurya is raised by two selfish and egoistic people and his mind is filled with all the lies told by Devi and more me the worst part was Shaan never clarifying anything to Shaurya. Shaurya will slowly start trusting Astha or atleast after the recent incidents he should use his brain and try to find out Astha's side of story.

About Devi and Tej there must be some reason for them not having any child. Devi always says she didn't have her own child as she sacrificed all this for Shaurya but I feel as Shaurya is the eldest son of Sabharwals she might have wanted her child to be the heir so that she can control everyone ( just suspecting ) let's see how the writers take the story forward.

Even I have been confused with some comments accusing Astha to be terrible mother. I did not see all the episodes, just started it recently... But it is clear that she always loved Shaurya.

Even Gayatri mentioned, she did try contacting Shaurya later on... And I never knew about accident part, so now... I would definitely say, Shaurya is just filled with hatred because of Devi... And she isn't playing any victim card... I would have done similar thing for my parents without caring about what so called narrow minded sasural wale think. I did see a scene of her trying to take Shaurya and Devi snatching him... My parents will ALWAYS be my priority... Hope we see Astha and Anokhi bringing in some sense to these bunch of people...

Thank you for summing this up so neatly. This actually helps a lot. I missed few episodes in the beginning. So many things were not clear to me. Your post actually cleared the confusion.

So from all this it looks like Shaan is the one at fault. He didn't support Aastha when he could and then drowned himself in guilt. And this in turn affected Shaurya.

I agree with the TM that Shaan is the one most at fault here. A woman's biggest support at her in law's place is her husband. Without that she is powerless. Had Aastha stayed back, Shaurya might have got his mother but the woman in her would have been dead inside. The Sabharwal's attitude towards their bahus is clear from the way they treat Gayatri. She being a mother is humiliated day in and day out in front of her own daughters. It is a surprise that a free spirited woman like Aastha managed to last there for five years.

That is why I wonder why Aastha married Shaan in the first place. May be she was young, thought she would manage to bring about a change in their attitude ( such thinking is common at that age ) but failed to do so as Shaan was not by her side.

As per Gayatri's version, Aastha wanted to take Shaurya along but backed off when Tej threatened her with legal action. One would wonder why she did not fight them in court. Perhaps she didn't want to drag Shaan and Shaurya into an ugly and protracted court battle. Also, she was not so secure in her job and position then that she could have afforded to fight a long court case with the mighty Sabharwals. She might have thought she was protecting Shaurya from the trauma when in fact she inadvertently exposed him to more trauma. She underestimated her importance in Shaurya's life as well as Devi's manipulative prowess (I don't know what subject Aastha teaches, but it is definitely not child psychology). By the time she figured it out, it was already too late.

The reason I have a soft corner for Aastha and keep defending her is because I can't forget the lengths she went to help Anokhi. Had it not been for her, Anokhi would not have thought of inquiring about her prospective groom and learned what she was getting into. She saved Anokhi from a grave danger and perhaps many other girls before her. When she stood up for herself against the Sabharwals, she did not just take a stand for herself, she was standing up for her kind. The tragedy is that in the process, Shaurya's psyche was badly damaged. Whether he will be able to forgive her or not, only time will tell. But I hope one day he will be able to move past his resentment see her as a woman and not just as a mother. That day will be the one when he too will find a proper closure.

I agree with you... I really don't think Astha in anyway is a bad person... Like most people, she might have made some errands like not taking Shaurya and not taking any legal actions to reach him, but basically she is really a strong woman whose aim is to uplift women in general.

One thing I do want to see is Astha being reluctant of ShaKhi's marriage because the kind of family that is... But she could still bless the couple once Anokhi assures her... Shaurya needs to know how his mother's suffering could also in a way toss his relationship with Anokhi because of Saberwals (in future when he is deeply in love with Anokhi).

This is a really good point and not one I thought of. Its also very realistic to show- Aastha concerned with the idea of Anokhi marrying into the Sabherwal household. This will be a real amazing angle to explore. On the the end, Anokhi will marry her biological son and too for for love. On the other, she knows what that family represents and experienced it firsthand. She helped Anokhi escape a bad marriage already with the Monty dude so I wonder if she would do the same here and warn Anokhi. The only (major) difference is that it the two (shaurya and Anokhi) will be in love by the time they decide to marry.

As I’ve said before, Aastha’s character is a revelation for tv. I know people don’t like her but I like the character and the reality she represents. She isn’t perfect but that’s the Beauty of this show and it’s characters

From a lot of the posts in the discussion thread I did feel that there was some confusion and people weren't aware that a major chunk of the back story was already revealed, hence I decided to make this topic.

While it was Aastha's loss both ways, she may still not really have known how bitter Devi and the Sabherwals would turn Shaurya and neither may she have thought that she wouldn't be prohibited from seeing her son ever again. So I do understand Aastha's perspective and situation here.
