Shaurya and shagun were together?

Whether these two were in love really....like dating and physical relationship or was it a family alliance...as shaurya do not seem to be much bothered...not seen all initial episodes..started following recently

As much I know it was a love marriage. They were together for a good number of years as mentioned by Shagun. Shagun was a student in SIAC and then became a lecturer, so it's a possibility that they were batchmates or Shaurya was her senior and they were attracted to each other. Well, Shagun did loved him.

Shaurya was a little bothered in iniatal episodes when he threw away the engagement ring he bought for her and when he returned her gifts and cards.

Yes you’re right. It was a love marriage. Kanchan mentioned it after their engagement broke off, surprised at why Shaurya would cancel the engagement over Shagun wanting to continue her studies. Also it’s the reason why Badi maa and papa want to him to try for an arranged marriage afterwards.

Shaurya did not handle the cancelled engagement that well but part of it was his ego. Shagun wants to talk to him and calls him afterwards but he ignores her calls. Then finally threw away the ring in some lake or something. But he did feel cheated especially by those he thought loved him. So maybe there was some pain. But I think he was more upset because she applied to Cambridge without asking him, hence the patriarchy side to Shaurya where he expected her to seek permission because doing anything. He doesn’t seem to be against career women but did not want that in his life and marriage due to what he knew about his mother (wrong info fed by Badi maa)

I feel like I have so many questions about how the two met at SIAC and their relationship in general. They were together more many years? Was Shaurya noncommittal initially?
It’s just assumptions for now but it seems like Shagun pursued him instead of vice versa.
