Rajat was trying to be strong,but the mere thought of losing Anu was scaring the living daylight out of him.

He looked at Anu,who was clutching onto him for her dear life..

"Maine Anu se itna pyaar kiya hain,aapne aap se ziada chaha hain use..

Uski ek muskurahat ke liye main kuch bhi kar sakta hoon.

Uski haar ansoon mere dil pe teer ki tarah chubta hain.

Main toh chahta tha ki duniya ki har khushi lake uske aage rakh dunga..

Par aaj mere wajah se Anu iss haalat mein hain.." Rajat mentally cursed himself for Anu's miserable condition..

FLASHBACK

Rajat knew this was coming,but he was not being able to make peace with it..

As he returned home after getting discharge from the hospital,he got the shock of his life,when he saw the Sareen house decorated with flowers and lights ,for Anu's wedding..

There was an atmosphere of festivity all over - it was Anu's mehendi ceremony tonight..

Ladies were singing,there were beats of dholki,there was laughter and gaiety all around..

It was late and dark had fallen over the city. A half moon shone in the sky under the sheet of dark clouds..

Rajat was sitting on his bed , with Anu's photograph in his hands..

The melodies of the songs ,the chattering of the ladies ,the giggling - all the revelries happening on the top floor were not only contained there, but they were approaching the ground floor too..

Although,Rajat had always been a convivial young man,who enjoyed being part of such merriments , but today all these jollities were disturbing him , there was a twitching ache in his heart..

Rajat picked up his mobile phone and dialled Anu's number..

It started ringing,but she disconnected the call..

Once,twice,thrice...

Rajat kept on calling her,and she kept disconnecting it..

"Pick up the phone,Anu" Rajat muttered under his breath...

Finally Anu picked up the call ..

"Rajat,aap kyun baar baar humein phone kar rahe hain?" she complained.

"Please humein pareshan maat kijiye.."

"Ab mera phone karna bhi,tumhe pareshan karta hain Anu ?" Rajat was visibly upset..

"Main aaj hi hospital se discharge ho ke ghar aya hoon .

Aur tumne ek baar bhi mere tabiyat ke bare mein nehi puchha ,Anu ? " He bewailed..

On the other side of the phone , Anu was trying hard to push her tears back which were threatening to roll down her eyes.

She disconnected the call again..

Rajat dialled her number again..

"Rajat please aap," Anu demurred.

But even before Anu could complete her sentence , Rajat said,

"Anu tum kyun kar rahi ho yeh sab?

Main jaanta hoon tum khud bhi khush nehi ho in sab se.."

Anu could have fooled everyone else with the fake smile that she had plastered on her face,but Rajat was well aware of the fact that Anu was as much in pain , as he was..

"Rajat, humesha hum jo chahte hain,zaroori nehi ki humein woh mil jayein .."Anu said holding her tears back.

"Kabhi kabhi humein kuch batein bhul ke zindagi mein age barhna parta hain,Rajat.."

"Aap bhi humein bhulke ,aage barhiye Rajat.." she said, gulping the lump that had formed in her throat.

"Bhul jaun tumhe?" Rajat yelped.

"Tumne kitni asani se keh diya Anu,ki main tumhe bhul jaun.."
"Par kya yeh itna asaan hain?'
"Kaise bhul jaun tumhe main Anu?

Aur.

Aur kya kya bhul jaun main?

Woh saare pal jo humne saath bitaya hain , woh bhul jaun main?

woh saari yaadein jinme sirf tum ho , woh bhul jaun main ?

Woh saare sapne jo maine humare,TUMHARE aur mere aanewale kal ke liye dekha hain , woh bhul jaun main?

Sab kuch bhul jaun main Anu?

Bolo Anu , bolo ." Rajat demanded answers..

Anu kept silent and wiped her tears.

"Par Anu main agar chahu bhi,toh bhi nehi bhul sakta main tumhe,kabhi nehi bhul sakta Anu.." He declared.

Rajat paused for a moment and said again ,

"Aur Anu,Tumne mujhse toh keh diya,ki main tumhe bhul jaun.

Par Anu,kya tum mujhe bhul paogi?"

"Rajat,please..

Kal humari shaadi hain." Anu mumbled.

"Anu , yeh mere sawal ka jawab nehi hain ." he sighed.

" Aur , Kaisi shadi Anu?

Iss shaadi se koi khush nehi rahega.

Naa tum khush rahogi ,

Aur naa hi main khush rahunga ..

Anu ek baar tum apne bare mein socho,

Humare bare mein socho , Anu..

Tum baas ek baar bolo , Anu ,main tumhe tumhare shaadi ke mandap se utha le jaunga.

Baas tum ek kadam toh badao , ek ishara toh kar do Anu.." Rajat entreated .

"Rajat!!! " Anu wailed.

Please..

Aap aisa kuch nehi karenge.." she adjured..

"Thik hain Anu, main aisa nehi karunga.. " Rajat assured .

"Agar tum khud hi nehi chahti ,toh main aisa kuch bhi nehi karunga,Anu.."

"Par ek baat jaan lo ,Anu.

Chahe tum mera dil tod do ,chahe tum mere sapno ko tod do , par phir bhi mere har ansoon ke saath,mere dil se tumhare liye ek hi dua niklegi ,

Ki tum khush rehna , humesha khush rehna tum,Anu.."

Anu felt a sharp tug in her heart..

She disconnected the call as tears were hovering over her lashes..

As Rajat realised that Anu has cut the call,he threw his phone in despair ,which struck the floor and shattered into pieces..

On hearing the loud bang , Minty rushed into his room..

"Rajat,kya hua beta?" She asked in surprise,looking at the scattered pieces of Rajat's phone,lying on the floor..

Rajat blinked his tears and replied dryly ,

"Kamzor tha,toot gaya.."

Their relationship was weak,and tonight it broke..

The story of Rajat and Anushka was going to end tonight , he thought..

"Koi baat nehi , Beta.

Main kal subah hi dusra la dungi.." Minty shook her head and said ,oblivious of what was going on in her son's mind and heart..

"Anu pehle se hi pareshan thi,aur meri baton ke wajah se.."

Rajat blamed himself again for Anu's torment..

How could he not discern Anu's inner turmoil,her dilemma..

"Anu was enduring all the pain alone,and I was busy mourning at the loss of my love" - he thought and admonished himself mentally..

"Par ab main Anu ko kuch nehi hone dunga.." He promised to himself..

He would not let anything happen to her,HIS ANU - he pledged.

"Rajatt!! " Anu's voice brought him out of his reverie..

Anu was now feeling dizzy..

The medicines , the exhaustion , all her anguish and torment were taking a toll on her now .

Anu was going to tumble down , when Rajat's strong arms supported her..

Rajat gently stroked Anu's face and called out,

"Anu? Kya hua,Anu?

Aankhen kholo , Anu .." he panicked .

Anu was lying unconscious in his arms..

Once again the apprehension of losing Anu started to overpower his will power..

Plethora of emotions were playing in his mind..

He was terrified to lose Anu but he was determined to save her.

He was concerned for her , while he was holding himself responsible for her miserable condition..

Rajat's mind went blank for a moment and he swayed.

All the physical and mental fatigue was now acting upon him.

But he quickly gathered himself..

"Rajat,abhi kamzor parne ka waqt nehi hain, Think about Anu..

Uski zindagi khatre mein hain..

Anu ki zindagi aab tumhare haathon mein hain .

Tumhe use bachana hain , Rajat " He tried to persuade himself..

He cannot fall weak now,he has to save HIS ANU..

Rajat took his mobile out of his pocket and dialled Neel's number..

" Neel.Kahan hain tu?" he asked..

"Bhai,woh main " Neil mumbled.

"Woh bhabhi,umm A .Main marriage hall ke bahar hoon Bhai."

"Achcha,

Jo main bol raha hoon , use dhyan se sun ,Neel

Aur jaisa main bol raha hoon, woh kar.

Ok ?.." Rajat said in a hurry.

"Bhai woh yahan aa aag..." Neel stuttered.

"Humm , Paata hain mujhe.

Ab jo main bol raha hoon,woh sunega tu ? ." he bawled .

"Bhai aap ?

Aap kahan ho Bhai?" Neel inquired..

"Neel , listen to me.

Jo main bol raha hoon jaldi kar.

Dont waste time.." Rajat yelled ,he was now getting exasperated..

"Jee bhai.." Neel nodded.

"Sun,jaldi se parking area mein jaa,

Kisi gadi ke driver se chabiyan (keys) le aur gadi leke entrance gate ke bahar intezaar kar.

Main abhi aa raha hoon .

Jaldi kar Neel.we don't have time..

Abhi ghar jaake gadi lane ke liye time nehi hain..

Is liye tu yahin pe kisi se ek gadi manage kar .

Samjha??" he instructed .

"Par Bhai , huwa kya hain ?

Woh toh bataiye.

Aap kahan ho , Bhai ?" Neel was perplexed..

"Neel , jo maine bola hain woh jaldi kar.

Dont waste time.." Rajat howled in agony and hung up the call..

Rajat knew that if he would call the ambulance , it might take time to reach the venue , but he didn't want to waste any precious time.

He couldn't afford to take any chances with Anu's life ,

Her safety was his topmost priority.
