Meanwhile, Rajat is busy creating the toughest race known to mankind (involving running a couple of kilometers, jumping over hurdles and going through tyres alit with flames - yep 🤓); basically, he needs it to be hard enough only the best, most driven students would win.
--- Aaand, on the other hand, Chota Sareen and his minions are doing some serious inspections. "This hurdle seems a bit too high, don't you guys think?", Neil observes.
*HAHAHA!* Rajat then inquires about the sudden surprise trip to 'meet him' and Neil expresses his 'concern' for the girls' safety.
Rajat: Fulfilling easy tasks never proved anyone's capabilities. This competition is for those people who love to win over anything else.
Neil: Do you think the girls will be able to do all this?
Rajat: Well, if they want to win, they WILL have to go through all of this.
Little does Rajat know the questions and the worrying were for the preservation and protection of his future sister-in-law. 😆
Back at the Shastris, the rituals are being completed and blessings taken from the elders which leads to some hand brushing and coy looks.
*HAYE, HAYE!! * Except, big brother finds it odd the 2 are so shy about one little *electric* touch considering they had spent the night together.
Aastha doesn't seem at all concerned, though, since she wants to get the rona dhona over with so they can go back for Alka's first proper kitchen experience at the Hari mansion. 🥱 The girls, even Minty, then laugh it off raving about Alka's super cooking abilities - which practically sends Aastha's brain into a coma figuring out ways to foil this.
Night falls with Devyani busy training at the terrace. Neil comes home just then and fake calls Manoj telling him about the girls chasing him either in an attempt to make Devyani jealous or to talk to him.
Neil: What are you doing?
Devyani: Drying clothes. *busily skipping rope in the meantime*
Neil: Wow! You're putting so much effort. In our house, all one has to do is to simply hang the clothes. And they'd get dry just like that. 🤣
Seems like Devyani has her mind, heart, body and soul set on one thing (3 things, to be precise): Rajat sir, shaadhi, 2 children. 😲 And seems Neil was actually snooping around campus because he's offering to help by revealing all the obstacles involved. O_O
He proceeds to helps her do the right exercises, stealing secret glances and chaste touches.
And after a while, leaves to get books to balance on her head. It's then that Rajat observes from above with a smile that she requires better shoes but he doesn't linger and leaves by the time Neil comes back to help her some more, teasing her and easing her through the training, creating an entire exercise program she should follow (comprising of skips, stretches, lunges and squats eliciting the response "Are those cartoon characters?" from a despairing Devyani 😆). All without revealing the obstacle race despite knowing everything about it *okay, phew*.
Devyani continues to stress over her incapabilities but she remembers Rajat and asks Neil to keep helping her, that she will do anything he says. This causes Neil to marvel over how miraculous it is she's listening to him, even more so that she's doing his bidding.

Back in the haunted mansion, everyone awaits Alka's famously fantastic food. Saasuma has faith she'll do well. Aastha and her little cronie are sure she will fail (because they aided the process a little by adding a truckload of excess masala into the chickpeas). The rest of the relatives wait with abated breath. Hari bhai tastes. The music climaxes. It has been made well, he declares. Rohan and his mother smile knowingly. The brother is wowed over by how good it is. Aastha glares at him *and Aimin has a STRONG sense of deja vu🥱; I might as well copy paste these situations at this rate*. Alka is proclaimed a domestic goddess and everyone praises her one by one while Aastha is confused over how the food was tolerable and seethes to realise every compliment to Alka was an insult to her.
When all the guests return to their respective homes, Alka states she has something important to say: The food may have been excellent, but someone tried to spoil it.
Precap: There seems to be a blackout at the Hari mansion. The 2 bahus go over to the circuit breaker to check if everything is fine where an electrician is already working to get things fixed. Aastha goes to fetch something and the man who had his back to them earlier suddenly turns. It's Rajeev, back to right all the wrongs. He grabs a petrified Alka, trying to talk 'sense' into her but only frightening her further as Aastha starts walking back to them.

HOW FREAKY WAS THAT? I got chills, seeing him in the dark there. That is some scary stuff. Damn. So, all in all, apart from the usual sasural oddities, it was another good episode. CVs, you hear us, right? Rajat seems to be keeping a good, respectable distance from Devyani while her plot with Neil is furthered. In a good, sensible, sweet way. And the return of maha villain Rajeev. I was wondering what happened to him. So, can't complain.
--- Except >_> I really missed good Anushka scenes. I guess it's inevitable some arcs are given a break when there are so many characters and plots to follow. With Rajeev back in the picture (I guess he was never gone), it's clear Alka will remain the main story for now. If only it was a bit more easy to tolerate. The sasural crap in its own place, Rajeev definitely makes the story more gripping and entertaining.
More than anything, though, I just feel sorry for Rohan who clearly has no idea who and what he's up against -1. Brother bordering on creepy and weird
2. Chudail bhabhi
3. A sweet wife who has serious trust issues
4. Nonsense father who spouts reethy rivaaz at every turn but sacrifices them for money on every other turn
5. Competition from psychotic ex boyfriend of said wife
I mean, I can't say this enough, but I hate Rohan's snoopy family. And how snoopy are they! What are they going to achieve by finding out whether Alka had spent the night together with Rohan or not? Whether they had slept together or not? Are they going to force them? Or kick Alka out of the house?
It made my blood boil last night when Aastha snooped behind the curtains to see if Rohan was really sleeping on the sofa. I mean, do they have to cater to the family's voyeuristic inclinations for the rest of their lives? 😡 This is almost as bad as in the olden times when consummation of a marriage had to be established by people standing around waiting for the couple to lay together. Welcome to the 21st century, indeed. I guess it doesn't make things better that there's a boyfriend now waiting around to do god knows what.
Mostly, I just wish there was a coherence to the story. It's confusing to the point where I'm confused about how I feel. I get that fan service is required to keep a series afloat. As a lover of romance, I liked the bit with Rohan and Alka today. And I liked the bit with Devyani and Neil. And I liked the bits with Rajat and Anu the last couple of nights. But I like things that make sense too. Seriously. What is going on? Will I have to watch Aastha dance around Alka while more important storylines are sacrificed? Will I have to wonder for nights/weeks/months to see if something will happen or not to them after the carrot has been dangled so temptingly in my face? 😔
