Monday 2/5/11 Episode No 55
Rathy is back to being her biting self. Decides to disturb Naren's music listening
session. Goes and shouts at him for meeting Ezhil on the sly - "what is between you
and Ezhil?? She comes and tells me that you wanted to meet her alone and open your
heart!!!! Unnai pOi ethukku love panninennu irukku " Naren first wants to irritate the
already boiling Rathy " I told Ezhil that she is beautiful and she in turn told me that I am
very handsome and that she loves me..." Rathy as usual goes on a slandering trip and
Naren stops her saying that he actually shouted at Ezhil for scheming things " she
came to my house to ask for her sister's medical seat, saw my parents and made it a
practice to visit them. Avanga kitte kandathai pesi manasai keduthu vaichutta. Athaan kooppittu warn panninen " Rathy looks convinced ( and all the time Roja was thinking
about the kerchief !!!) and repents for being impulsive . Naren says that he is used to her impulsive anger and misinterpretations . Rathy feels bad " I probably should not have got angry with your mom too. She spoke her mind, I should have dealt differently "
Both go to the hospital, get down from the car - smiling and congenial. Ezhil is walking in to work and apdiye suru suru nnu varrathu avalukku. Goes straight to Naren and does a preamble - "doctor, neenga enakku kudutha thai thirupi thanthudanum. I should not
keep that nnu ellarum sollittanga..." Gives the kerchief and says " U gave me when I was crying...love or friendship, gifting kerchief is a big no no..." Rathy vethalam is back to the murunga maram...or that is how it looked . Pensive rathy at home - thinking about Murugan- has visions of him singing. Hospital le Murugan is fidgeting - moves around in sleep (??? Fits??) and the duty doctor calls Rathy and informs. Murugan kai kaalai Othaichikitte irukkar !!! Rathy asks the peon to bring some thing to Murugan's room ..goes to him and pacifies him.
Next segment is drama to the core - KB sir, et tu?? Rathy plays Murugan's song -
Kurai Ondrum illai - and asks him to sing along. Antha payyan paavam Oomai
mathiri act panrennu Roja vai kashta paduthiduthu . Murugan's parents fret ...ask
Rathy to stop torturing their son.. even the mother says that she wants her son to be
alive ...Rathy silences them..plays the music...stops it..cajoles Murugan to sing...finally..

Update for Tues, May 3, 2011: Episode No 56
Somebody is smoking a cigarette in the hospital. An orderly goes by, looks at him, he glares at the orderly and tells him to move on. Then his friend comes by, greets him, this is the guy, Sugumaran, who was dismissed by Rathy for stealing medicines (I think they have changed the actor, he looks like a younger person now, or else I have mixed him up with someone else in my mind!). Sugumaran says he is doing very well now, and he came to see his old friends and his girlfriend, Usha, who is a nurse here. He finally puts out the cigarette and goes to find his gf.
He finds Usha, goes and talks to her. She is afraid that Rathy may see them, but he says he doesn't care and holds her hand and talks to her. Perumal, the forgetful attender, comes there, hears them talking and sees them through the window. He goes back to Rathy's office and manages to tell her that Sugumaran is back. She is furious and goes to confront Sugumaran. He says she cannot stop him from coming there, a hospital is a public place, but she says he should behave with decency. He says she is a fine person to talk of decency, just because he came to see his girlfriend, when everyone knows about her and Dr. Naren, and this is something that has been going on for generations. Rathy is shocked, and he goes on to say that her father and Salima, the comatose nurse, had an affair and everyone knows about it. She is shocked into silence.
Rathy storms into her Periappa's office and asks him why they have been hiding this from her all along. He has no idea what she is talking about and after five more minutes of raving and ranting, she finally tells him that Sugumaran said her father had an affair with Salima. Periappa tells her that he didn't think she needed to know about some things, but since it was in the open, she should know about it and tells her.
Apparently, her father and Salima, along with Ethiraju (who is that?) were the people working for Shanti Nilayam, when it started as a small rented building. They worked night and day and brought it to a good condition in two years' time. Her father and Salima also found that they were in love with each other, but since they were of different religions, there was much opposition to their marriage, and finally, Salima herself talked Dr. Suresh into marrying Rathy's mother. He was back at work the day after his wedding, and told Salima he had found her a good job somewhere else, because he thought it wouldn't be proper for her to be working there after his marriage and he was afraid he wouldn't be able to handle himself (I think that is what he said). She begged him not to send her away and to let her stay on there.
Rathy is in tears at this point, but Periappa tells her there is more to come, and to reserve some tears for later.

Wednesday 4th May 2011 - Episode - 57
Mohan Bharathi asking Rathi to keep stock, has a lot more to tell. Salima doesnt want to leave, wants to remain as a subordinate in the hospital until she breathes her last.
Ethiraj an attender is smoking. Another attender tells him not to, he must instruct others who visit the hospital, instead he is behaving like this. Ethiraj drives him away. Ethiraj takes bribe from visitors who come to visit patients out of time. He also collects money from poor patients who come to visit Suresh Bharathi, who doesnt charge them. All this is seen by Salima.
There is a little girl who brings lunch for Ethiraj - Maha - his daughter., who tells him it is wrong to take money from poor. He tells her they are also poor, shuts her up and drives her out. This too is seen by Salima who says a daughter like this for this kind of a father.
Ethiraj's wife and Maha come to see Salima who gives Ethiraj
s salary to his wife, because he drinks away his salary. Salima also has started a chit fund of Rs.40 every month, says his wife can buy gold for Maha. Mrs.Ethiraj says that he will take it away, so Salima decides to convert it as Fixed Deposit. Also gives two sets of uniform sewed by Salima herself for Maha. The mother - daughter duo are indebted to Salima. Rathi Bharathi wants to kai eduththu kumbidufy Salima.
Suresh Bharathi calls for Ethiraj and warns him for his behaviour with patients. Ethiraj waylays Salima, warns that she has no business to poke her nose into his affairs. Salima is adamant that the name of the hospital shouldnt be spoilt.Tells her to stay away from his business, even offers to give her a share. Ethiraj talks ill of her and Suresh Bharathi. Salima asks him to shut up, but he continues.. and is slapped by Salima who gives him a final warning - leaves. Ethiraj wants revenge on Salima for slapping. Rathi shocked that such a rogue worked for them. Innum kELu continues Mohan Bharathi.
Ethiraj is kicked out of the job. Rathi feels what her father did was right. Ethiraj is asleep at home, his wife finishes her work as maid, finds him sleeping. Ethiraj tells he lost his job all because of Salima. He asks her to work in a couple of more houses. Mrs. Ethiraj praises Salima, tells Ethiraj that they have a daughter to take care of, so go and fall on Dr.Suresh Bharathi's feet and get back his job.
Ethiraj is back at the hospital. Another attender who goes to Suresh Bharathi's room tells that Ethiraj is waiting. Suresh Bharathi calls him in. Ethiraj says sorry for all that he did, he will never repeat... Suresh Bharathi re-appoints him. Rathi wants to know if her father did give his job back. That was the gravest mistake tells Mohan Bharathi.

Thursday 5th May 2011 - Episode - 58
Ethiraj falls at Suresh Bharathy's feet asking for pardon. Suresh Bharathy asks him to wait, Ethirah while leaving to wait outside throws a look of hatred at Salima. Salima tells Dr.SB not to believe him. But Suresh Bharathy re-employs him because Ethiraj has a family to feed , also give him a chance to reform. Why did he re-employ him questions Rathi to Mohan Bharathy. That is his soft nature.
One night, Ethiraj takes leave from duty, Salima asks about his next day's duty, Ethiraj answers her and wants the keys to lock the doors of the hospital. Salima gives him the keys and tells she is happy with the change in his attitude and behaviour. Ethiraj locks all the doors, but leaves one grill door open, has some plan. Gives the keys to Salima and takes leave. Salima later goes on rounds and finds that the grill door is open. She also finds some broken beer bottles. Ethiraj comes from behind. Tries to force himself on Salima. Salima runs and in the ensuing fight she falls down on the parapet. Ethiraj gets scared and runs.
Dr.Suresh Bharathy is called for. The duty doctor tells of what happened , Salima has a head injury with lot of loss of blood. Nerves damaged and she is unconscious. In a very critical state. Suresh Bharathy is in tears. Salima's brother and sister in law come hurriedly crying, want to know what happened to Salima. They were informed by a nurse. If the police complaint has been filed, if Ethiraj has been caught. She is the sole bread winner, her brother's factory is on lock out. Dr.Suresh Bharathy is confident Salima will come out of it. They want to see Salima, and are advised to see from outside the ICU (thanks KB sir...)
Police go in search of Ethiraj to his house. Mrs. Ethiraj is wondering why he hasnt returned yet, almost more than 24 hours since he went to work. The police updates her of Ethiraj trying to rape Salima and Salima being critically injured. They search the house, tell her to report when he gets back. Mrs.Ethiraj prays for Salima. The police after some search nab Ethiraj drinking in some slum.
At the hospital Salima's brother and sister in law enquire about Salima to Dr. Suresh Bharathy. They cannot afford the hospital fees and it is almost 2 months since the accident. No improvement at all. Dr.Suresh Bharathy says Salima is in coma. Dont know when she would become alright. They need not worry about the treatment and cost - it will be taken care by the hospital since Salima was on duty. They just need to visit her whenever they can. The self guilt - that all this happened to Salima was because of him - was slowly killing Suresh Bharathy tells Mohan Bharathy to Rathi.
