Samantha On Divorce: 'I Think I'm Done...'

Talking about the various speculations and the unwarranted attention to her personal life, Samantha recently told ETimes, “I think I am done speaking about it. It was important to speak about it and I have addressed it but I don’t think it is necessary to keep on repeating that, again and again."

Who exactly was forcing her to go on talking about the divorce?

“I don’t demand unconditional acceptance," she said.

“I encourage people to have different opinions but we can still love and have compassion for each other. I would only request them to express their disappointment in a more civilised way."

Even in this apparent final salvo, she chooses to play the victim and take zero responsibility for her posts. Even a poison "pen" can appear to be most "civilized" and Sam has not shied away from using it.

Yes!! I did... That's the most strange thing about this divorce.... After divorce Sam is everywhere and chay is no where. They decided to opt for divorce, it was their choice. Even I think their divorce has nothing to do with their family. There is a buzz that Chay is doing a film with Sam's best friend. I would be really surprised if this film really happens. In several interviews Chay Sam talked about how difficult it was for them to be on the same page. I guess that ego problem has always been there. Those followed Chaysam, it's difficult to believe the rumours that are going on regarding the reasons of their divorce.

Is Chay doing a movie with Chinmayi? Chinmayi appeared in her first movie, with Akhil.

I really don't know the cause for their seperation.it may be medical issue,ego clashes else professional commitments.. whatever it is they could have resolved it.thank goodness there is no legal access,we needn't divorce our parents and siblings..else my heartfelt sympathy to family courts.

Sam has said in more than one interview that she became more confident to take on (different) roles about 2 years ago. That's two years into their marriage. Both may have changed their expectations of family life. They may have been on the same page when they started off but grew into different people who were no longer compatible or there could have been a single event which was a bridge too far for either of them.

Whatever it was, I am glad this happened before they had kids.

No .. there is a buzz he will be doing a movie with Nandini Reddy... The director of Oh baby.. though I highly doubt.. Nandini is Sam's close friend along with Chinmayi..

I bet on this.. going by their public appearance it's quite clear they both were not ready for this. Till April, chay was happily talking about Sam. He appeared in Rana's show with love story team. Sam in an interview with Femina openly talked about chay around May.

Yes, in a way they saved another life from being messed up.

The interview bought about a very different perspective, Samantha is not very articulate, she is portraying herself as a victim all around. Tapsee is definitely the next Kangana. The other 4 were so good, and level headed.

Tapsee and Samantha are hypocrites, I mean you say you want to do good author backed roles then why are you doing an item number.

They have fallen hook, line and sinker for her victim narrative and are making wildly unsubstantiated claims about Chay and the Akkinenis (worse than anything the YTs have said about Sam). Reddit really is a cesspool.

I am quite certain that interview was engineered to rehabilitate Sam's image ahead of likely collaborations with Sid (with the makers of FM2) and Taapsee (who confirmed that she has offered Sam a movie).

A while back I read an explanation given by Sam about striving to look a certain way because that's what actresses needed to look like (I read it as justifying her plastic surgeries).

Besides the colourism (Sam also had her skin lightened), it made no sense for Kollywood or Tollywood. It definitely does now: Sam has always had her sights on Bollywood. Her look seems to be surgeon sculpted for it.

Don't know what happened between them but maintaining silence despite all these is not an easy task. It requires patience. While I appreciate his silence, but his silence means a lot of things.

Bollywood seems to be successfully exporting that obsession to other movie industries. When will they start protesting the same in other family led businesses? Is anyone demanding that the Ambanis (e.g.) give a chance to outsiders instead of hiring their inarticulate kids to top positions? When these so-called self-made commoners have kids of their own, they too will be saddled with the "nepo kid" tag should they choose to enter the same industry as their parents.

I see Kangana is being taken to court by Javed Akhtar for defamation - she probably went too far and someone decided to hold Kangana, the bully, accountable.

As for Chay's silence: perhaps Sam too will go too far too ...enough rope. Chay's only answer seems to be commercial success and personal happiness. His movie promos look really good. He won't play dirty like Sam and will never emerge the winner in a tit-for-tat. What else can he do?

As to him looking dull (upthread) in promos and interviews for Love Story: perhaps his calmness is perceived as dullness from the stills and photos but the interviews were anything but dull. He just does not have an insatiable desire to be the centre of attention.

The same cannot be said for Sam.
