Nothing is really still and nothing can be really labelled as being inert. Everything is in motion, in a pre-destined, orbit, movement around one or more things. Deep down in the realm of quantum physics, you can see this motion among the stuff that are tinier than atoms and tinier than the neutrons and electrons inside them. I bet the creator's eyes which see everything, it must indeed be a glorious sight to see the whole universe in motion, in a dance pattern that is seemingly random but in a way, a cleverly choreographed movement.

Astronomers using the James Webb telescope have seen back into nearly the very beginning of the Universe and have seen the light that has travelled to us from the first galaxies and stars that formed a few hundred million years after what we call The Big Bang Event.

I, in my own eccentric way, see myself and others as a star, a system, a galaxy and even see everyone as an entirely different universe. In the daily course of life, I visualize my universe gently overlapping that of other lives and their universes. Sorry, but there are days when my universe collides with others and the end results are best forgotten.

Worse, on some days, my universe deteriorates into volatile chemicals and ignites when it comes into contact with other volatiles. On good days, you might ask and my answer is water, ice and snow. For my Hydrogen connects with Oxygen to become life-giving water and also hydrogen peroxide which is lethal in heavy concentrations.

But, hold on while I finish my chem class and tell you that if you put two lives namely Hydrogen and Oxygen together, they will not make water for they need a kickstart, an event that will make them connect. Love, hate, sarcasm, insecurity, dominating, narcissistic etc... take your pick for anyone of those negative virtues that can lead to collateral damage.

This is what relationships are all about in the end and right now and right here I am talking about love between partners in marriage, and affairs and God only knows what other bonds that lie between lovers.

Turning away from the tree called " Miracle " Ravi and Gayatri began walking back slowly towards Whispering Rocks with him taking the occasional glance at the compass to make sure that they were heading in the right direction.

' I have seen heavier fog than this in places around the foothills of the Himalayas but not such a pesky one for this seems to be rather creepy in its existence.'

Ravi slipped his arm around hers and said, ' My exact thoughts, Gayatri for this fog seems to have its own mind and is rather abnormal for I have been coming to Kodai from my teens and I can tell you with a guarantee that is the worst fog that has hit this place in a long time.'

He looked at his watch and saw that it was ten minutes after 11.00 am and muttered, ' God, both of them are going to skin me alive for this.'

' Master, I am sure they will understand when you tell them that there was no signal to send a message or call them.'

On cue, Ravi's mobile beeped to notify him of an incoming message and seeing that it was a voice message, pressed play

and froze in shock and surprise for the message was a medley in English and Tamil and also in what sounded like Kannada.

Ravi's eyebrows rose in shock and stood like an arch on his forehead and he looked at Gayatri with a face red with embarrassment and said, ' I guess he is a bit upset and rightfully so.'

She smiled, ' True. Very True. Just one doubt, Ravi. I kind of get that he meant well when he was cursing in English and in Tamil but there were some words there that I could not recognize although I understood the inner intent and content to be the same as the Dozen F..ks and Dozen Ot.as that Partha generously splattered in his message.'

Ravi gulped like a fish out of water and said, ' Badaga language that comes from the old world of Kannada language. It is mostly spoken only in the Nilgiris District.'

She placed her hand on his lips and said, ' You mean to say that Partha cursed you in three different languages while repeatedly threatening to kick your arse with his metal legs all the way back to Madurai.'

Ravi wondered loudly, ' God knows why he sounds so mad and more colourful than usual ' and looking at her said worriedly, ' Come Gayatri, let's hurry up and get back home before it gets really dark.'

' Okay. But what about that drawing, that message Beedi man left behind for you and why does it involve your Psycho cousin, Meenakshi.'

Life before computers

An application was for employment

A program was a TV show

A cursor used profanity

And a keyboard was on a piano!

Memory was something that you lost with age

And a CD was a bank account

And if you had a corrupted disk

It would hurt when you found out!

Compress was what you did to garbage

Not something you did to a file

And if you unzipped anything in public

You’d be in jail for a while!

Log on was adding wood to a fire

A hard drive was a trip on the road

A mouse pad was where a mouse lived

And a backup happened to the commode!

Cutting, you did with a pocket knife,

Pasting, you did with glue.

The Web was where a spider lived

And a virus was the flu!

This article was written to Sister 2 Sister magazineby a Caucasian woman who requested a response from Indian men -

Dear Jamie

I'm sorry but I would like to challenge some of your Indian male readers.
I am a White female who is engaged to a Indian male-good-looking,
educated and loving. I just don't understand a lot of Indian female's
attitudes about our relationship. My man decided he wanted me
because the pickings amongst Indian women were slim to none. As he saidthey
were either too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy,
too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage.

Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly
Approached by Indian men, willing to wine and dine me and give me theworld. If
Indian women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why
don't they look at themselves and make some changes. I am tired of the
dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we're out in public. I wouldlike
to hear from some Indian men about why we are so appealing and coveted
by them.

Bryant Gumbel left his wife of 26 years for one of us. Charles
Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell Williams,Quincy
Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Poitier, Kofi Anan,
Cuba Gooding Jr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy, Billy Blanks, Wesley
Snipes...
I could go on and on. But, right now, I'm a little angry and that is
Why I wrote this so hurriedly. Don't be mad with us, White women,
Because so many of your men want us. Get your acts together and learnfrom us
And we may lead you to treat your men better. If I'm wrong, Indian men,
Let me know.

Thanx-Disgusted White Girl, Somewhere in VA!!!!

RESPONSE

Dear Jamie:

I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White

Girl. Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old Indian man. I

Graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta,Georgia

With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good jobat

A major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I

Consider myself to be among the ranks of successful Indian men.

I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to

set the record straight of why Indian men date white women. Back in

the day, one of the biggest reasons why Indian men dated white women was

because they were considered easy. The Indian girls in my

neighborhood were raised in strict homes. They were very strict aboutwhen they

lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our mpatience to

wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy

without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls. Nowadays, inmy

opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and

easy to control. A lot of Indian men, because of insecurities, fears, and

overall weaknesses, have become intimidated by the strength of our Indian

women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us,

make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses.

Because of this fear, many Indian men look for a more docile woman.Someone

We can control.

I have talked to numerous Indian men and they continuously comment on how

easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want

to set the record straight.

I want A Disgusted White Girl to know that not all successful Indian mendate white women.

Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan,

Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth"Babyface" Edmonds,

Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black/Indian women

And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of thespot

light, who openly or secretly desire Indian women over white women.

Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie to name a few. I just don't

Want a "Disgusted White girl" to be misinformed, Stop thinking that

Because you are white that you are some type of goddess. Remember, when

Indian Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and

armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating

raw meat and beating each other over the head with clubs. Read your

history!

It was the Indian woman that taught you how to cook and season your

food.

It was the Indian woman that taught you how to raise your children.

It was Indian women who were breast feeding and raising your babies

during slavery.

It is the Indian woman that had to endure watching their fathers,

husbands, and children beaten, killed, and thrown in jail.

INDIAN women were born with two strikes against them: being Indian and

being a woman. And, through all this, Still They Rise! It is because

of the Indian women's strength, elegance, power, love and beauty that I

could never date anyone except my Indian Queen. It is not just the

outer beauty that captivates and draws me to them.

It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and

shades that I love them. Their inner beauty is what I find most

appealing about Indian women. Their strong spirit, loving and

nurturing

souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome great obstacles,

their willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their

determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduringgreat

pain and suffering is why I have fallen in love with Indian women.

I honestly believe that your anger is geared more toward jealousy

And envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why do you

continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If you are so

proud to be white, then why don't you just be happy with your pale

skin?

Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and breasts with

unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look fuller and more

voluptuous?

I think that your anger is really a result of you wanting to have

What the Indian woman has...

BOTTOM LINE: If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can

Walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately, I am

looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be a good wife and

mother to my children. Someone who can be my best friend and understandsmy

struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am looking for a sister

and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit the bill.

No offense taken, none given.

Signed, Indian Royalty

Avan, Aval Adhu 212

Ravi's dilemma with the question that she had asked was made clear to her by his expression. Gayatri asserted herself over the Gayatri who was madly in love with him and asked in a very deliberate tone that conveyed her own confusion to him.

' I don't get it. Here is you, a person who I know very well to be articulate and one who answers all questions with perfect poise and reason and yet, here you are stuck for an answer and that too for a very simple and open question.'

She glared at him, ' I am confused and honestly, I confess that your attitude is not only frustrating but is also beginning to get to me.'

Ravi began to walk quickly and with no other choice but to follow him, she did.

Then Ravi suddenly stopped for his eyes had caught glimpses of shapes in the fog coming towards them and from the direction of Whispering Rocks and realizing that they were being made by people wondered worriedly about Partha and Daksha and then the group of people numbering four were on them.

His immediate reaction and first action was his right hand pushing Gayatri behind him and at the same time placing his left foot forward in the most basic silambam and martial arts movement, and at the same time, he profiled his body slightly so as to protect himself and waited.

The four dark shapes took on the real shapes of the cook and his wife and two others who obviously worked in some capacity at Whispering Rocks and they excitedly yelled, ' sir, sir, boss searching for you. Please come.'

Ravi quickly asked them, ' They are okay. They are safe, right?'

The cook who had no clue as to what was going on nodded dumbly and then looked at the others wondering if they had any clue as to why their Guest was asking such a silly question.

Ravi switching to Hindi asked them what was the necessity for Partha to have sent him and the others in search of him and Gayatri.

The cook gesticulated with his arms, ' Tv, saab. Chennai mei Bomb blast hua hai.'

Ravi stared at the Cook and whispered loudly, ' What has a bomb blast in Chennai got to do with us and why send you people to search for us?'

Gayatri's tone was all steel and all sharp in its intensity as she said, ' Okay, that's it. Enough of this bullshit, Ravi. WTF is going on here.'

Ravi shook his head, ' Honestly, I have no clue as to what is going on.'

The ringtone of his mobile phone cut through the fog that was all around them and through the fog of fear and confusion that reigned in their heads was casting shadows in their hearts, and Ravi glanced at his mobile phone and saw it was Guna, Inspector Sargunam calling him.

He answered it on the second ring, ' Guna.'

' Master. Where are you?'

' Here in Whispering Rocks. Why?'

' Master, there has been a bomb blast in Chennai and that too in a very posh area of Anna Nagar. It's all over the news.'

' I was just informed about it, Guna. But, why are you calling about something that happened in Chennai and what has this bomb blast got to do with you?'

' Master, the blast took place in an Art Gallery. The person who owns the place was living on the top floor with his family. The entire building was burnt down and there are no survivors.'

There is a reason why Ravi is called Master by all those who know him and that reason was not just because he ran the school and taught the students but also because of his intelligence and which now came to the fore as it connected the puzzles, the dots in the information that had been given to him.

' Guna, am I correct in thinking what you are thinking but not saying it?'

' Yes, master. I am sure that the trail to this bomb blast started from Madurai and is definitely connected to the temple robberies.'

Ravi's body trembled not just in fear but in a heightened rush of adrenalin as he whispered softly to Guna, ' So, this means that they have already moved and if their tentacles have reached Chennai, then Kodai.....'

' Exactly, Master. Two patrol jeeps are already on their way and they will reach you in the next hour. I am planning to arrive there by evening. So, until then, stay indoors and stay safe.'

Then he hurriedly said, ' Master, the IG is calling. I will talk to him and come back to you. Bye.'

Ravi looked at Gayatri, ' Come, it is best we be on our way and get inside where it will be safer than here out in the open.'

She nodded and said okay and looked knowingly at him and Ravi sighing wearily replied to her eyes, ' I will answer all your questions once we are inside and once I know more of what is going on.'

Karma began to flex its fingers and extend its claws and it moved on the slopes of Kodaikanal and on the ground that was still soft and mushy with the previous week's rains.

The Landslide began with a humble stumble but then its grumbles gathered force as it roared and rumbled down the slopes and by the time it came to a halt it had claimed thirteen lives and had close off the road and the way up to the hill station that was the jewel of the Nilgiri mountains.

Karma is a nasty thing. There is just no telling when it will come calling and that too with an already prepared judgement. Karma is surely a nasty Judge and a heartless one at that for it comes knocking when you least expect it.

What else can you call this, it, those moments when you are subjected to the most painful and harrowing parts of your life and you slowly sink to the ground crying, ' what have I done to deserve this? What great sins have I committed, for me to be punished like this?'

Karma is a nasty, brutal, cold, but perfect Psychiatrist and on its couch, you are made to rewind, travel back to every point of your life when you did a silly sin and that too out of anger and rage that borders on a temporary loss of sanity. It does not matter that you lashed out in pain at those who are in the range of you and maybe even are deserving of it and it does not matter to Karma all the good that you have done.

For, in the end, Karma is a mirror too and only when you see yourself and your true reflection will you finally recognize the path to your redemption.

Only after redemption, you can forgive yourself and forgive others like yourselves and see clearly and live clearly without EGO covering your soul like cataracts covering your eyes.

But, hold on for all is not lost for if there is such a thing as Karma then there is surely such a thing called Faith, Willpower and yes that thing called Sacrifice.
