Good morning. I wish you all a beautiful Monday and I hope you have a great week ahead.

2019 in our little world saw the end of Redemption and Jannal Oram although some of the main characters will cross over into Vaanathai Pola and join Radha Krishnan in his quest for justice.

Another year, another December is coming to an end and a new decade is about to begin next week.

Chumma, naama sollikka vendiythu thaan. New year, puthandunnu.

I started wishing the forum members back in 2006-2007 and I am a bit surprised that I have lasted so long and soon I will be wishing you all a happy 2020.

As the days are rolling by like the fleeing clouds up in the sky and also evaporating in the face of the sun, time too is evaporating in the face of life.

So much to share, so much to talk about and so little time.

Plus, sharing and talking means others and their time and that is another matter for one does not want to knowingly or unknowingly waste time, precious time.

I have slowly become an album, a diary, a vault, a secret black book and in me are all the moments that I cherished and many moments that I ......

I consider myself lucky that I get to see so many new days and dawns and am always left with the thought " What If."

Every new sunrise seems so spectacularly beautiful and sometimes even a solitary cloud that has been separated from its flock does its part and blinds the sun behind its water vapor and that makes for great pics.

I wish, I too looked spectacular every day and had some cloud cover to make my soul look beautiful.

C..p. I am wandering now.

These are some of my favorite Hindi songs of 2019.

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

Almost all of today's problems that plague this planet are based on Greed and needs. It is just about okay to be ambitious but when ambition turns dark and evil and is tainted by greed and the need to covet more and more than the sacred covenant with life is broken. When things are in balance, life is good and importantly peaceful. But, when that balance is lost and when the mind craves more than that is needed and required, suffering comes along and is passed down the chain.

Radha Krishnan shifted his position in the seat and turned to face Girija Padmanabhan and asked her ' Who do you think is behind your brother being attacked so brutally? Please, ma'am, you said you trust me and that you sense a bond with me. So, I ask you with that trust and respect, who in your opinion was behind this brutal attack on the Brigadier?'

' that is the Million dollar question, Radha Krishnan and that question along with many other questions were asked by the army and the police department. But, to no avail and it does not matter now that my brother lies in a coma and since the doctors themselves have given up hope of him coming back to us, conscious and even if he does regain consciousness, God only knows what state his mental faculties are going to be.'

Radha Krishnan smiled ' It is going to be okay Ma'am. Something tells me that it is all going to be okay.'

Girija looked at the young stranger ' Why? why are you so interested in my brother? Why now and why have you come after all these years?'

Radha Krishnan placed his hand on Girija's hand and squeezing it gently said ' I have come because you and your brother need my help and I have come to ask some questions and I promise that I will not leave until they have been answered and I am satisfied.'

Almost all of us live out quiet and trouble-free lives and all the violence, killings and murders that we hear about is through the idiot box and print media. We never, ever come face to face with violent people, dangerous people and we see them and their kind only in films as caricatures.

Girja Padmanabhan was nearly 70 years old and to her credit was a smart and astute woman and the moment she heard his words, she felt a chill gripping her soul and trembling in fear asked him ' What do you plan to do? what are you going to do, Mr.Radha Krishnan?'

He looked at her ' please ma'am, Raadhu. Call me Raadhu for that is how my mother calls me and I see you as my other mother.'

The car slowed at the signal and the driver switching on the indicator waited for a few minutes and then turned right and Raadhu who had been staring at the traffic now looked at Girija ' My childhood hero lies in a coma, a fallen warrior and I am going to find out why and who felled him and left him to die by the side of the road in the dark of the night.'

Girija shrank back in fear for it was fear that she felt from the young stranger and she looked into his eyes and saw her brother looking back at her and her heart melted and she asked 'Raadhu, please take care child.'

A heart knows. A mother's soul knows. Pure love knows even if it has not taken shape as yet

Radha Krishnan smiled ' I will ma'am and by the time I am done, the people behind this attack on the Brigadier will know what darkness means and they will learn to fear it.'

The large gate of The Flock opened wide and the car drove in and it entered with a new Guardian for the land and its people that dwelled inside the sanctuary.

The darkness that comes with the night is not scary for what is really scary is the things, the creatures that lurk in them and they are darker than the darkness of the night and now one being has stepped into the light to demand answers for what had been done to his father and he is not going to take no for an answer.

Soon, Chennai is going to burn and a new Redemption will be sought.

The boy who came out of the dark and into the light.

“A Warrior knows that an angel and a devil are both competing for his sword hand.

The devil says: "You will weaken. You will not know exactly when. You are afraid." The angel says: "You will weaken. You will not know exactly when. You are afraid."

The Warrior is surprised. Both the angel and the devil have said the same thing.

The devil continues: "Let me help you." And the angel says: "I will help you."

At that moment the Warrior understands the difference. The words may be the same but these two allies are completely different.

And he chooses the angel's hand.” ― Paulo Coelho, Warrior of the Light

Simple yet beautiful and very true. Jesus appeals to almost all people who believe in God. Myth, Legend and even Maya but then who has seen God and almost all of us are believers of tales and Puranas.

Faith is the true state and the only emotion needed to believe in all forms of God and this simple and beautiful truth seems to have skipped the minds and reasoning of all the so-called believers who are but fanatics.

They exist in all religions that are being followed and practiced today. In the name of God, hate, violence, murder, rape, pillage and sadistic crimes are being done by these fanatics.

And these fanatics began their reign of evil by crucifying Jesus to the cross and stabbing him to death. I am not too bothered about Jesus being the son of God and will not debate it for we are children of the same God that gave us Jesus.

Simple and beautiful were the words of Jesus and the same has been said by Buddha, Mahavir, and the Mahatma.

One was crucified and the other was shot to death and all in the name of God and country and little did they realize that God does not exist in killing and violence and importantly not in the souls that are full of hatred for other souls that have faith in God but who appears to them in a different form.

Ram, Robert, and Raheem. Shankar, Salim, and Simon. Mary or Maari. Abraham or Ibrahim.

Does it really matter?

Simple yet beautiful is living and yet they have made it all so complicated.

Who, who else but those so-called learned and wise men who proclaim themselves as God and God incarnate.

I don't need a pimp or a broker to lead me to my father and mother and I don't need any fanatic to tell me how to love my father and mother.

Hundreds of trees stood as sentinels in the immediate area of his sight and their brethren stood tall and wide as far as Radha Krishnan's eyes could see and his eyes were like that of a cat and could see far and in great detail.

' An oasis. A green oasis. A beautiful Jade like jewel ' exclaimed Radhu the moment he got out of the car and turned to see a visibly moved and shocked Girija Padmanabhan and asked her ' Ma'am, are you okay?'

' Those were the thoughts and dreams of my brother Raja and that was the foundation and the seed that stand now tall and proud as his legacy' she replied and paused in her words to take in The Flock.

At the edge of his peripheral vision of his left eye, Radhu caught a movement, a flicker of white near the window of the building and turned to see what it was and caught a brief glimpse of a man in white disappearing behind a curtain with a cell phone in his hand.

Radhu stored the moment away for his arm was gently clasped by Girija and they headed towards the entrance of the building.

The Flock consisted of Five buildings and the one they were heading towards was the largest of them all and which housed the school and its administration.

The layout was very simple and had been built in a circle with the main building serving as the beginning and the end.

Girija pointed to the smaller buildings ' the first one is for the children, both boys and girls and who are below 10 years old. The next one is for girls aged 10 and above. The next one is for boys 10 and above' and pointing to her left side ' that one serves as the Gym, sports center, library, and the computer center.'

Radhu nodded ' But all five buildings put together stand on just one or two acres ma'am?'

Girija sighed ' therein lies the problem Radhu and maybe the one that has finally felled my little brother.'

' I am sorry ma'am but surely knowing the Brigadier, there should no be problems with the sale and registration of this land and am sure everything was done properly and legally.'

Girija was about to speak when a middle-aged man dressed in a white shirt and white pants came rushing out and greeted her with respect ' Madam, Good morning.'

' Good morning Sekar' and looking up at Radhu, Girija introduced the peon to him.

' Sekar has been with us for only a few months and is doing a great job. The previous peon, Anwar who had been with the flock tragically died in an accident and Sekar here replaced him and is a real asset for The Flock.'

Sekar was a short, round, pot-bellied dark-complexioned man with an easy smile although Radhu could see that the smile did not reach his eyes and politely asked Girija ' Is Sekar the only peon or are there others to assist the administration, ma'am.'

' No Radhu. He is currently the only peon that we have although we usually have two or three office assistants.'

Sekar flashed his false smile ' Ma'am, I can manage for now and if it gets difficult then I will request for another person to help me with the office work.'

With the same false smile still playing on his face, he pointed to Radhu ' Is this sir a visitor ma'am?'

Girija smiled and looked at Radhu, her one arm still holding his ' I am not sure Sekar if sir is going to be just a visitor or a permanent resident? That is something that only, sir, can answer.'

The object of their conversation flashed his most charming smile and introduced himself ' Hello Sekar. I am Radha Krishnan.'

Both men looked at each other and greeted each other pleasantly and Radhu knew that Sekar was the man he had seen at the window a few moments ago.

Only a faint noise of the traffic on the busy OMR road reached his ears and he looked questioningly at Girija and asked ' Ma'am, why is it so quiet? where are all the children? where are all the teachers and other people who work here?'

' It is December, Radhu. Most of the children have left for the holidays to their native places and the few children who have stayed back have gone out with the flock's librarian, Thangamani master to visit the Anna centenary Library and also to see Vijay's ' Bigil'.

Radhu looked lost for a second and it turned out to be an education for later in his room he realized that looks and positions don't matter a damn and it all comes down to what lies inside your thick bony skull.

Even his momentary look of confusion was noted by the peon Sekar, who burst out laughing ' Sir, what sir? you don't know who Vijay is and that Bigil is his latest movie release ?'

Radha Krishnan shrugged shyly ' well, I have been away for a long time and have lost touch with many things.'

Girija smiled and patted his arm' Radhu, it looks like you and I are nearly on the same page when it comes to knowledge about films and music. But, I have got you beat there, for I have heard of this actor Vijay many a time and almost all the times from my nurses and other hospital staff. He is big news and looks destined to enter politics at some point in the not so distant future.'

Radhu subtly managed to look embarrassed and lost although his brain had already made an early report an all that he had seen and heard and in his mental database, he moved the peon Sekar into the folder where he stored the names of future threats and enemies and people who he needed to learn more about.

Using the light moment as an opportunity, the peon Sekar very politely enquired about Radha Krishnan to Girija and did it very carefully and expertly ' Ma'am, if this sir is a visitor, allow me to show him the place while you are in the office.'

' That is a good idea Sekar for Radha Krishnan is going to be working for the Flock as a teacher and will also be handling the administrative duties and will be reporting directly to me.'

She looked at Radhu ' Please go with Sekar and take a look at the Flock while I wait for you here. I am too old to be walking around this large property anymore and I am positive my knees will surely buckle under the strain of it, leaving you both to carry me back here.'

Sekar suddenly remembering something, removed his mobile phone from his pocket ' sir, one second please, let me put my mobile on charge before we leave for it will take us at least 30 to 45 minutes to walk the entire property' and rushed off towards the office room.

Radhu waited patiently for about 30 seconds and looked at Girja who asked him ' Any problem Radhu?' and he replied ' I, I mean it cannot wait any longer. Please, could you point me to the toilet please?'

Girija smiled ' Please, use the toilet in Rajashekar's room.'

Radha Krishnan thanked her politely and quickly jogged towards the office building leaving Girija to think that he must be in a real hurry to reach the toilet and taking her mobile out made a call to the doctor who was in charge of her brother.

An empty room tends to be much more reflective, bouncing sounds from wall to wall, window to ceiling, and to the floor with very little absorption. Carpets, furniture, paintings, rugs, etc. all absorb sound and so cause reflections (echos) to die down much more quickly. That is also why recording studios have those foam shapes on the wall. And why theaters have curtains hanging everywhere. And why many businesses have large rectangles covered with cloth hanging on the wall. They aren’t just there to be modern abstract art and they are there so your bank doesn’t sound like the inside of a bathroom.

Radhu heard Sekar's voice clearly in the halls and heard his words loud and clear ' Thalaivare, Girija madam is here right now and all alone but for a stranger who is of no consequence. This is a good time for you to talk to her without any interruptions and not having to worry about students and other faculty members.'

Radhu waited a minute and came out of the building adjusting his shirt and pant wiping his hands with a kerchief and the illusion was complete.

Sekar returned and apologized for being late by a few minutes and again the illusion was complete.

Radhu looked at Girija ' Ma'am, if you don't mind, please come with us. This is my first time here and I want to know everything about the place and who better than you to tell me about it.'

Immediately Sekar's face began to show signs of panic and confusion and finally frustration and irritation won over and in a rebuking tone he addressed Radhu ' Sir, please, don't trouble madam for she will not be able to walk that far and her knees will not take it.'

But, before Radhu could reply, Girija's replied and replied in a tone that was stronger than the one he had just used ' Sekar, you will not tell this gentleman what to do and what not to do and especially in matters that concern him and me. Please remember your position and learn to remain in that position.'

Sekar quickly apologized ' sorry madam. Please forgive me. I spoke only out of concern for your health.'

Radhu looked at the peon, Sekar ' Is there a wheelchair in this place?'

Both of them looked at him and Radhu said ' well, just in case and if the need arises.'

Girija smiled and clapped her hands like a child ' Now that is a brilliant idea' and looking at Sekar ' bring the wheelchair that is in the storeroom and let my new friend take me around the Flock for it has been a long time since I have been around the place.'

Sekar left to bring the wheelchair and Radhu spoke to Girija ' ma'am, if you don't mind, I have to make a call and let my people know I am okay.'

Girija nodded and watched Radhu as he made the call and sauntered around her and envied them that he had mentioned as his people.

Then, her heart nearly stopped as Radhu stood with his profile turned to her for he looked exactly as her younger brother Rajashekar.

She knew then that Radhu was related to them, but how, when and where and through whom was he related to them, she wondered.

A heart knows. A mother's soul knows. Pure love knows even if it has not fully taken shape as yet.

Good morning. I wish you a beautiful day. All the best.

Death of a mosquito

When you gotta go, you gotta go and I sat down to go and lo, behold a fat and dark mosquito floated here and there and gently landed on my ankle. My feet are dead pale in color and so I could easily see the insect, a black spot on my skin.

I took a deep breath, held still and raised my book to whack it and well the sting was in and the mosquito was caught with my blood in its gob. It said " hold, please hold, I am just going to take a few drops for my eggs and for my future family, so please don't kill me".

I said " A few drops of blood you say. So, why should I stay my hand and let you live".

The insect thought and whispered, " but you live under the protection of your wife, family, and your close friends, so why can't I live under your protection".

I replied, " that is between me and them and if you want to know why, you should ask your god and your family members and not resort to this kind of emotional blackmail. ".

I raised the book and was about to bring it down and the mosquito dug in deeper and wailed " wait, wait. you are an official blood donor and donate regularly, four times a year and sometimes are called in the middle of the night to donate blood to people with whom you have no connection at all. So, please let me take a few drops and donate to my kind".

I stayed my hand, steadied my aim and my head and replied 'I am not Lord Yama who came as a Yaksha and questioned his son Yudhistra about life and its virtues at the lake in the epic Mahabharat to answer these questions. You will take my blood but in the process, you will also pass on germs and disease filled stuff into my blood. So, why should I let you live and let you continue doing the same crime?"

The mosquito whimpered and said, " I have no idea and only my god knows that".

I smiled an evil smile that would have put a lot of villains to shame and brought the book down and splattered the mosquito and said, " well, go to your god and ask him, why you are thus and why I am thus".

Your Breath Comes...To Go. Your Thoughts Come ... To Go.

Your Words Come... To Go. Your Actions Come... To Go.

Your Feelings Come ... To Go. Your Illnesses Come ... To Go.

Your Phases Come ... To Go. Your Seasons Come ...To Go.

You Have Come ...To Go.

Then Why Do We Hold, Our Guilt, Anger, Hatred So So So Tightly,

When they Too have Come ...To Go

This joke is dedicated to all Salespeople!

A man was waiting to cross the highway but was hesitant because of

speeding cars.

Suddenly, Lord Yama appeared & said, "Man, why are you afraid like

this...You are going to live until 90 years of age. Don't let such

little things scare you ever.

The man moved forward with new courage, got hit by the first car and died.

In Heaven, he asked Lord Yama as to why he had lied. Lord Yama

answered, "Sorry man, year-ending pressure buddy, had to

achieve my targets."

Wealth is like sea-water; the more we drink, the thirstier we become. The same is true of fame. Arthur Schopenhauer

Greed, or avarice, is an inordinate or insatiable longing for material gain, be it food, money, status, or power.

As a secular psychological concept, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. The degree of in ordinance is related to the inability to control the reformulation of "wants" once desired "needs" are eliminated. Erich Fromm described greed as "a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction." It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else.

After just ten minutes into their walk around The Flock, the strain began to show as beads of sweat and grimaces of pain on Girija's face and Radha Krishnan stopped and asked her to sit down in the wheelchair.

' nearly 70 years old Radhu, and yet it is not the age factor that is the cause of all this pain but bone loss that comes with old age. My biggest fear nowadays is fracturing my hip or knee for I will not survive being in bed for more than a week.'

' ma'am, you are a doctor and I am sure you know that age-related Osteoporosis is common in all women after their menopause.'

Girija looked at him in surprise ' not bad Radhu. Brains to go with brawn and looks.'

Radhu bent his head making Girja think he was blushing after receiving her compliment, but Radhu had bent his head to hide his expression for his thoughts took him someplace else and he thought to himself ' if only you knew.'

' I have a mother who suffers from the same condition ma'am and that is why I am familiar with these medical terms. I learned all this from the doctors who treated her and also took it upon myself to learn more since it concerned my mother.'

Girija now seated comfortably in the wheelchair wondered how effortlessly he pushed her and looked up at him ' so, what did you learn about your mother's condition?'

' Not much but effective. Take in more calcium. Lose weight. Exercise more and lead an active life. Simple and easy.'

' Very true, Radhu. But, you will be surprised to know that most people are aware of all these things but are plain lazy and don't do anything about it and keep telling themselves ' Soon, next week, next month' and then it is all too late and then go to their doctors who prescribes them with expensive and damaging medicines and also presents them with a big fat bill.'

Radhu stopped as soon as Girija raised her hand and pointed to a large banyan tree,' take me to that tree, please, and stop a little distance away from it.'

It stood in solitude. It stood as a small forest and as a world by itself. It stood tall and wide with its huge branches spread in all directions. The hundreds of roots that dropped from the branches were like the luxurious unfurled mane of a woman after having washed it and dried it.

The banyan tree stood along and well away from all the other trees and stood like a large green umbrella.

He watched as Girija got up from the wheelchair then reaching for his arm, steadied herself and said ' I am not going to get used to being pushed in a wheelchair for then I will surely stop walking.'

She looked at him, ' come, Radhu, and say hi to the very first tree that my brother planted with his own hands in this place called The Flock.'

Both of them made their way into the cool shade that the Banyan tree provided and Radhu pointed to a wooden bench that was facing the tree instead of from away from it which is the usual norm, and said ' there must surely be a reason for that ma'am.'

Girija nodded, ' If there is, my brother has never spoken about it nor has he ever told me what those weird scrawlings mean on the trunk of the tree.'

She looked at Radhu ' my Raja is like my own son and we are close to each other and absolutely have no secrets between each other but for this one tree with its weird name " Shinogai."

Radhu went still for a second and then slowly went down on his knees and stared hard at the weird signs that were scrawled deep on the trunk and closing his eyes, smiled and thought of his mother ' He is truly one of his kind, mother, and you were right in loving him and trusting him with your soul.'

He turned to Girija, ' ma'am, is there a reason why your brother, Brigadier Rajashekar never married?'

Girija nodded ' before I answer that, promise me that from this moment, you will call me Amma instead of ma'am.'

Radhu stared at her for a many a moment and said, ' okay amma.'

The sweet moment was rudely and cruelly broken by the ringing of Girija's mobile phone and she saw that it was from Sekar and answered it ' Enna Sekar.'

Radhu clearly heard Sekar's loud and panic-filled reply ' Madam, the councilor Rangaswamy has entered our compound. I tried to stop him and his men but they forced their way in. Please come quickly, ma'am.

Radha Krishnan welcomed this distraction that had been announced by the peon Sekar for the word " Shinogai" that had been carved in the trunk of the Banyan tree and the same which had been pointed out to him by Girija had hit him very hard and had left him emotionally vulnerable.

Girija's eyes looked at him, pleadingly and with fear dancing in her eyes, ' the villain returns and I wonder what he has to say this time.'

Radhu began to push the wheelchair and asked her ' who is this man, Rangaswamy?'

Girija sighed in frustration and banged her hand on the hand rest of the wheelchair,' an old story although it now seems like a festering wound that has turned gangrenous.'

Not getting a response from Radhu, she continued ' This part of Chennai was totally uninhabited and deserted back in the early 90's and dead cheap. This land that The Flock stands on belonged to some people that lived in Chengalpattu. To be precise, it belonged to two brothers, Munuswamy and Rangaswamy.

Rajashekar purchased this land from Munuswamy who is no more and worked hard to build realize his dream, The Flock. Rangaswamy held on to his share of land that is next door and then sold it for a few crores just a few years later and at the same time that his elder brother passed away.

Realizing that a special economic zone(SEZ) was in the pipeline on this road, he immediately began to pester and trouble, my brother to sell back the land and was even ready to pay ten times the price. But, Raja refused and asked him to go F..k himself and so it began, all the harassments, petty fights, and bullying.

But, Raja refused to back down, and stood tall and strong and fought back until he was felled and left to die like an injured dog by the roadside.'

Summoning some hidden vestige of anger and power, Girija asked Radhu to stop and getting out of the wheelchair, looked at him with eyes full of tears.

' I will walk from here. Leave the wheelchair behind for Sekar can collect it later.'

Radhu remained quiet although people who knew him very well would have told Girija that his kind of quiet meant that he was angry and that usually meant chaos.

Girija took his arm, more for moral and emotional support than for physical help, and looked at him and said, ' can you please stay until they leave? I feel better and safer with you by my side.'

Seeing him nod and smile, she thanked him and said, ' I know it is a bit weird but I feel like I have known you for a long time. But, I respect your privacy and feelings and will not ask or probe for answers and will wait until you are ready to tell them yourself.'

Radhu smiled ' Thank you and like I said, I have come to serve you both and will be here until you need me and until I am sure all the problems have been sorted out.'

Councilor Rangaswamy was leaning against the Toyota Fortuner that seems to be the trademark car for all manners of politicians, good, bad, corrupt and evil.

Seeing Girija and the stranger in the distance, he asked Sekar ' who is that man? what is his name?'

Sekar replied ' Sir, I just him a short while ago. His name is Radha Krishnan.'

Councilor Rangaswamy laughed loudly and the six bulky, and dangerous-looking men laughed with him and he looked at them quizzically ' why are you guys laughing? are you guys nuts?'

The biggest and baddest, of them, was wrongly named Nallakannu for he squinted horribly and which never failed to rouse a smile in people he met, spoke up ' Boss, you laugh, we laugh. we are your faithful followers. you lead, we follow.'

Councilor Rangaswamy had a funny bone in him which raised its serpent hand in the nastiest but ill opportune moment and it came out of its hole now as a question ' So, if I got to the loo, you will go to. If I sleep with my wife, that means you will sleep with her too.Appadiya.'

Nallakannu, big, bad and mean and one who had many criminal cases against him, nearly peed in his pants and fainted in fear for he had no clue as to how or what to answer to his leader's question.

Councilor Rangaswamy stared at all of them and began to laugh loudly and this time he laughed alone while his men stared at the ground, wondering if they should dig and bury themselves.

' Yei, I was just playing with you f..k..s. O..a, you guys are not only spineless but f..k..g brainless. Less, less of everything but violence. Relax, guys. I laughed hearing that guy's name, Radha for it is a name suitable for females only and also the name of my favorite dream girl, Actress Radha.'

He sighed loudly,' che, she was so hot and sexy in that film Alaigal Oivathillai and that song among the lotus flowers. Aiyo, aiyo. I lost my heart and soul to her that day and only got it back after I saw her in some dance show as a judge. She had put on so much weight that they had given her a separate sofa to accommodate her bulky a..e.'

Radhu and Girija reached them and immediately Councilor Rangaswamy folded his hands and greeted her with warmth and respect, ' Madam, Vanakkam.'

' What do you want, Mr.Rangaswamy?'

' What I want is this property that belongs to my family and what I want I usually get or take if it is not given. But, I am being polite and tolerant with you and yet it is not working with you.'

Girija smiled sweetly, ' it is not been working for nearly 25 years and still you are at it.'

She let go of Radhu's hand and moving closer to the councilor, roared, ' you have no business being here and you have no business talking to me for this land belongs to my brother, Rajashekar.'

Councilor Rangaswamy thought for a moment and said, ' But he is not here and from what I hear he is never going to come back and so that leaves you in charge and all alone to face me and my power.'

Radhu who had remained a few feet away from both of them now moved closer and throwing his left arm protectively around Girija said ' you are mistaken for she is not alone and she will not be facing you and your power alone for I am here now and standing with her.'

Councilor Rangaswamy's eyes bristled with anger and his six henchmen moved closer to their boss.

He looked at Radhu,' I heard your name is Radha. Isn't that a female name?'

Radhu smiled ' Radha Krishnan. But forget that you dimwit, tell me what is your name?'

' Rangaswamy.'

' See, this is why I called you a dimwit for you are making fun of yourself by making fun of me not realising that we both are named after the same God, Lord Krishna.'

Councilor Rangaswamy desperately tried to make a comeback but just could not think of any proper counter and by that time another vehicle sped through the gates and rushed towards them.

This was a government vehicle. A police vehicle and the door opened and out came Deputy Commissioner Ilavarasan and he marched straight towards councilor Rangaswamy and roared ' I am arresting you for trespassing on private property and for violating court orders that have told you not to step into this property that belongs to Mr.Rajashekar.'

.

More vehicle noise and all of them turned towards the gate and saw the white police truck enter the compound and stop behind the vehicle of Deputy Commissioner Ilavarasan.

Twenty police constables got out and he pointed to them and ordered them to arrest all the six men that had accompanied councilor Rangaswamy and then he came to Girija and enquired if she was all right.

Girija totally surprised and shocked by the sudden turn of events looked at Dc Elavarasan ' how did you know this man was here? who called you?'

Deputy Commissioner Ilavarasan ' I have no clue and will come to that later, for now, I am just happy to be screwing with this b..t..d, even if it is just a petty case and I am sure that he and his men will be out by today evening.'

Girija then introduced Radhu to him and then both of them stood watching as Rangaswamy and his men were taken away leaving his driver to follow his criminal boss in the Toyota Fortuner.

A few moments after the police had left along with the local councilor and his henchmen, both Radhu and Girija turned to see another vehicle enter The Flock.

Radhu saw it was a black sedan from Maruti and it had an upright arrow in its number plate and just above the number plate was a red plate with a single star on it and that meant an army officer of Brigadier ranking.

Girija's face brightened in relief and visibly relaxed and Radhu watching her knew that a friend approached and someone who she knew very well.

A very tall and fit man in his late 40's or maybe even in his early 80's got out of the car and walked towards them and gently bent and touched Girija's feet and she, in turn, blessed him by saying " Jeete Raho beta."

Girija turned to Radhu,' this is Brigadier Prakash Malhotra' and after both men greeted each other warmly she asked him ' Prakash, if only you had come a few moments earlier.'

Brigadier Prakash Malhotra's face creased with worry ' Ma'am, what happened? are you all right?'

' Councilor Rangaswamy happened to drop by with some of his thugs, hoping to bully me as he tried doing with my brother but thankfully, the police dropped in and hauled them all away.'

Brigadier Prakash Malhotra shook his head, ' Thank god for that. I was just passing by and saw the police vehicles exiting the gates. Not knowing what was going on, I dropped in to check out and see if everything was hunky-dory.'

Girija glanced at Radhu, ' Prakash was a junior officer in my brother's regiment and served under him for many a year and is one of the few faithful and loyal ones who drop in regularly to visit us both.'

Brigadier Prakash Malhotra told Radhu, ' A pity that sir left the service rather prematurely even though it was to better serve the people with his skills and soul. If not, he would have surely been the third field marshall of this great nation.'

Girija gazed fondly on Brigadier Prakash, ' forget about Raja for I hope and pray that you get that elite status yourself someday. From lieutenant to a Brigadier, you have come far Prakash beta.'

' How is he doing ma'am? any improvement in his condition?'

' No beta.None at all.'

Brigadier Prakash looked at Radhu, ' and who is this gentleman, ma'am?'

' A new entrant to The Flock and from my hometown, Kumbakonam. He is just here on a temporary basis as a teacher.'

Brigadier Prakash Malhotra nodded, ' The flock and you and sir need more young people to join the cause and serve the people better. Ma'am, if there is anything that you can do, please don't hesitate and reach out to me.'

She nodded and then Brigadier Malhotra nodded to Radhu. ' Mr.Krishnan, all the best and please take care and watch over both of them.'

Radhu smiled and said ' Thank you. I will do my best.'

The Brigadier left and Girija turned to Sekar,' I am tired and am going back home' and turning to Radhu, ' are you coming with me or staying back here?'

' I will stay here for now and maybe go out a little later for I need to purchase some stuff and will most probably meet you at the hospital later in the evening if it is okay with you.'

Girija nodded, ' it is perfectly okay. Come, walk with me to the car.'

Leaving Shekar behind, Girija again held Radhu's arm and said, ' I don't know why but I feel comfortable with you and feel like I can talk, really talk with you and pour out my soul to you.'

She looked at him,' you must think me as a crazy old bird on her last legs.'

Radhu shook his head, ' I will never think that of you, Ma'am' and seeing her face turn stern, quickly corrected himself and said, ' sorry amma.'

' Bye Radhu, I will see you in the evening.'

She looked at Shekar, ' Radhu is new to Chennai and is now not only a teacher here but also our guest. Please help him settle down and help him with whatever he needs. I will introduce him officially to the rest of the faculty once the school reopens in the first week of January.'

Shekar responded with enthusiasm ' Okay ma'am.'

Remembering something, she looked at Radhu, ' I felt that you seemed to recognise the name that my brother had scrawled on the trunk of the banyan tree.'

' I did not recognise it ma'am, just that I thought that " Shinogai" was a kind of vague word for a tree and that the word itself sounded a bit Japanese when pronounced.'

Girija chuckled ' far from it Radhu. The word has Urdu origins and the word itself means " Green eyes." Maybe, my brother felt it was an apt name for the Banyan tree that was the first seed to go into this land called The Flock.

Girija Padmanabhan left in the car leaving Radhu, smiling to himself and thinking about the word " Shinogai" and its meaning for that was the name of his mother and it meant exactly that as it described her bright Green eyes.

But, with black eyes begeted from his father, he now stared at Shekar and smiled and thought, ' Who did you call, you treacherous rat and I wonder who will come running to save you when I start with you?'

Far away, across oceans, across continents, Shinogai unfurled her mat and prayed to Allah, ' merciful one, watch over my son, Radha krishnan and watch over my soul, Rajashekar Varman.'
