It was expected with Gautham... with Mani it was unexpected, says Samantha
Samantha says that when Gautham Menon offered her a role in Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya, he had promised to make her the heroine in his next film. True to his words, the director has signed her up to play the lead girl in Nee Thaane En Pon Vasantham and its Telugu and Hindi versions as well.
On bagging the role in Mani Ratnam's Kadal, Samantha says that it was totally unexpected. At the audition, there were a number of actresses vying for the role but the veteran directed offered the role to me, gushes a happy Samantha.
