Breath is important to life

Voice is important to speech

At school we are taught lessons

If we want to prosper, we have to study well

Now, to look at who says this

And listen to what he has to say now

Some will study with interest and score good marks

Some will study with struggle and score average marks

If you listen to the teacher, you'll do well

If you don't listen to the teach, you won't do well

Don't look at who says this

Just listen to what he has to say

Who discovered the exam?

If he's trapped by the person that studies well, he's

Safe

If he's trapped by the person that doesn't study, he's

Dead

Everyone will have their day, exam-u

We need a lot of time to study

Because of exam, our sleep is lost

He discovered the exam and left

But because of his discovery, we are troubled

Teacher will marks our exams after we are done writing it

The result is either pass or fail

We are praised for good marks

We face the wrath by parents for bad marks

Oh, the twist at the end

Dei Ravi, though I haven't commented lately, I get the opportunity to dwell into your poems each time I sit down to translate it for you! Some lines are obvious yet others are filled with deep meanings, that makes one stop and think!

One particular verse from Poem # 3 (Vazhkai Payanam) is an eye-opener indeed!

"Nammakula irukara nalla pazhagam ah mattum pakirom!"

Surely its human nature to think of the positives in you to motivate yourself! This is the key to success in life! Yet, one man's pleasure shouldn't be another man's pain, and that is exactly what i see in the line that follows it

"Ana yen nammakkula irukara ketta pazhagam ah yaarum pakkala?"

Unfortunatly, a drive for something may at times make them NOT REALIZE their misleading behaviors, until its too late! If everyone could think before acting, ensuring that their actions do not hurt others, then the world would be a better place!
