Why does Preeto always decide??

Hey everyone!

This is not my first time posting on this forum but it is my first time posting my own topic and I haven't been here in ages so hi!

I was a huge fan of this show and watched it without fail until the first confession. Until that point the writing was absolutely flawless and I was wondering who these people were who had the good sense to create a real girl like Preeto and put her on TV. She had spunk, she had ambition and she had talent, that was always a major part of the story... And of course Rajbeer was a dream hero, tall dark and handsome with dark past and their banter! oh that was the best!

Then, the minute she decided to dump Rajbeer when just the day before she made a speech about how chipkoo-type she was, I lost it and stopped watching. It just made no sense to me why she couldn't support her family with RB's help. I mean wouldn't having her own boutique help her family??? And it's not like he was asking her to get married the next day or move away from her family.

So anyway, back to the present. I was so happy that they were on the brink of getting back together and was enjoying the old banter that was once upon a time, the USP of the show, and loving the fact that Beeji stepped up and finally made it clear to Preeto who was the parent and who was the child in the relationship (she so needed that) and then they pulled out the OLDEST trick in the book.

And here is what annoys me about this latest twist. Why does Preeto get to be the sole decider in everybody's lives? She is making decisions not only for herself and RB, but Beeji, Ishu and Dhruv as well. I mean Ishu is an adult and a married woman. Doesn't she have the right to make a decision about her own marriage and her own life with all the information? Even though Preeto thinks she is being a huge martyr, I just don't see it that way. It's not like she is actually fixing anything because as long as Dhruv continues to think his mother is a kind, loving woman, Ishu and Dhruv's marriage is not fixed so I think Preeto would have helped her sister more had she brought these issues to people's notice instead of crying and screaming to babaji secretly on the terrace.

My question is, what makes her think she is fit to make decisions for the entire family, including Rajbeer? To be honest, she should have smacked NA (maybe not literally 😆) and told Ishu and Dhruv what she said so they could sort out their family problem, instead of falling for NA's lame blackmail, which btw puts NA in an incredible position of power. By keeping this a secret Preeto is disempowering Ishu and breaking RB's heart.

Because this is a serial we know they will end up together, but if it were real life, this might have been one time too many (because I would have snapped him up! 😉).

Preeto (actually the writers) need to get real and realise there is not an ounce of logic to the way Preeto is behaving. She has gone from a strong female character I loved and related to, to someone I perceive as arrogant because she thinks she can, alone, decide the fate of her entire family. She thinks she is Beeji's beeji and Ishu's didi! Girl needs a reality check and how!

I agree with you partly on the decision making factor, decision making only comes with responsibility, a person can decide on another person only if he or she is responsible over them... coming to preeto deciding over RB, I agree she has no right to do so... even a wife cannot make decisions for her husband as she is only his companion and gives him support and suggestions but cannot decide on him, CVS have fallen short on this factor, and it is a very big loophole on the cv's part... because preeto is a very down to earth girl.. and strictly speaking she will never decide on anyone else.

Coming to preeto deciding over her sisters, you are a little mistaken in this matter.. she never made decisions on her sister's personal lives, rather she always wanted their happiness and so always wanted them to make decisions on their own. Even in meeta pankaj story.. preeto stressed her sister to decide on saying yes for pankaj, that she does not accept him, because of feeling pity rather accept only if she loves him... even for ishu she went ahead because she knew her sister loved dhruv,

Right now she is only trying to mend dhruv ishu case, she is not deciding on them... but when it comes to ghar ke kharch and other house responsibilities she as all right to decide because she has taken up the house responsibilty and is the sole breadwinner of thehouse
