SI Sunday 11th April Update

The episode is based on crime in trains.. Indian Railway has a huge network spread over the entire country and its kind of impossible for the railway authorities to keep check on crimes happening in trains, stations, and en route. Along with authorities it is also responsibility of every individual to stay alert and take care of their own safety while traveling, specially over long distances. Women traveling alone or with kids, old aged people are soft targets for criminals.

Laxmi was traveling alone from Ghansali station to Tulsipur station which was supposed to be an overnight journey. Her husband was supposed to pick her up from the destination. When Laxmi reached Ghansali station, a porter Samar approached her for carrying her luggage. Porters at railway stations are given licenses by authorities to authenticate them. Samar was a porter who was working at station without a valid license. A senior porter Bhanu was supposed to help him in getting a license, for which he was demanding an amount of 3 lakh rupees from Samar. As laxmi reached station, Samar carried her luggage inside and informed her that her train was supposed to be 6-7 hours late due to some repair work being carried out on the route from Ghansali to Tulsipur. Laxmi got suspicious and asked Samar how he has the accurate information about train timing. Samar told her that they have all the information regarding train timings since they work daily there.

Laxmi's train arrived around 10.00 pm in the night and Samar helped her in settling in her seat, and Laxmi started her journey. At midnight when everyone was fall asleep, few people entered the wagon, used some spray to make the fellow travelers unconscious, and kidnapped Laxmi by using chloroform on her. Next morning, when laxmi's husband reached Tulsipur station to pick her, he could not find her. Instead he finds Laxmi's bag lying with some unknown person. He checks with that person who says that he picked up that bag by mistake and Laxmi might have forgot to pick up the bag when she got down at some previous station. Laxmi's husband gets worried and decides to go to police.

Meanwhile Samar has been approached by few unknown people who tell him that if he works for them, they can help him in arranging money required to obtain the license. Samar is left in thoughts as Bhanu has already warned him that if he doesn't arrange the amount in 2 weeks, he will give the license to someone else who can arrange it.

The lady inspector at Ghansali station starts inquiry and gets information that it was Samar who helped Laxmi to get into the train. She starts searching for Samar. In the rest room at Ghansali station, Samar approaches Bhanu with an amount of 50000 rupees and tells him that he will arrange the rest of it later. At the same time inspector reaches here and catches Samar red handed. Samar clarifies that he has sold his father's land and arranged the money. The inspector gets assured that he is not lying.

A week later, same station, another lady comes to the station to catch a train. She is wearing a plenty of gold jewelry. In the meantime, Samar has got license and he immediately goes to the lady and asks her about her seat number. He carries her luggage and helps her to find her seat. In the midnight, same gang of criminals use the same method and kidnap the lady. After kidnapping her, they get down the train with her at some isolated place. As they start running carrying her, police arrive at the scene and catches them red handed.

The lady is actually a police who is disguising as a passenger as part of inspector's plan to catch the gang. Inspector gets details of whereabouts of Laxmi from the criminals and police reach that place and free Laxmi also, who is thankfully safe.

Laxmi's husband thanks police and asks how could they locate Laxmi. The inspector clarifies that he should actually thank the brave lady police who acted according to the plan, even though it could have cost her own life had the plan failed. The police has actually traced phone calls of criminals involved in kidnapping cases earlier in the area, and got a clue that they might be getting some insider information about lady passengers traveling alone and their exact seat numbers. With this info, police keeps a watch on the porters at the station, and to their surprise, it is Bhanu who has teamed with criminals and is providing all the information to them. Bhanu also has contacts with the workers who do the repair work, so he used to get accurate information on where exactly the train will travel with a slow speed on the route, where will it stop etc. Bhanu is doing all this to earn some extra money, and the gang eventually used to sell those women to human trafficking gang further. Laxmi was luckily saved, due to alertness of her husband and efforts of police.

Bhanu and the entire gang was caught and got 14+ years jail for the crime they committed.
