"Our anthropologist substituted in his own version: ' I believe in people and people believe in God.' I prefer to say that I believe in people, and people, when given the right encouragement to think for themselves about all the information now available, very often turn out not to believe in God and to lead fulfilled and satisfied - indeed, liberated lives - indeed."

ZEM am enjoying the preface, wonder about the rest.

After a long suffering sigh-Yes. I read & liked Snow a bit so read this one as a follow up. It was tedious. He didn't deserve the Nobel-Its ONLY my POV.
I think there are too many POLITICAL considerations in awarding the Lit prize,I think-most disillusioning!

PS=That's from TGD, isn't it?

@Z.

So agree, I just wanted to know was it me, who found that book tiresome and least deserving , what was going on with it, wasnt it majorly plagarized and I just coulnd pick out the narrator's voice in it.

Another one-

Somewhere in la Mancha, in a place whose name I do not care to remember, a gentleman lived not long ago, one of those who has a lance and ancient shield on a shelf and keeps a skinny nag and a greyhound for racing.

TeeHeee!
! Don Quixote-he with a passion for windmills,tilting at!!

Its probably my jaundiced eye...but why are old authors so much more quotable?!

"The difference between and the rest of the world?! Happiness is not good enough for me! I demand euphoria!"

@Calvin and Hobbes,

Z, here's this one ,might cure the eyes-

"I'd never given much thought to how I would die – though I'd had reason enough in the last few months – but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this."

I HATED the book! Twilight Series?
Still seeing yellow tinge!!!

"Get busy living or get busy dying"
The author borrowed it from elsewhere and gave it a slight twist
