Navri and her eternal victimisation
I admit! I felt small and even foolish when I saw those brave people who had scaled heights of success in professional and personal lives despite their disability and were so positive! They were proud to be what they were!
I felt I didn't have even an ounce of the courage, tenacity and practical approach to life which they had!
As for Nisha, seriously I sort of did look away from screen when I saw her.😲 And as I watched their story, my head fell in shame...how courageous that girl herself was, how positive she was despite being what she is and what she had to go through and how golden hearted her parents were...to have adopted her and going out of their way to give her a normal, healthy, joyful life!
You know? On Twitter someone was bashing Satyamev Jayate and called it #FAIL. I asked why, and he said that was because the show made him feel bad, inadequate and ashamed! It showed things one never wanted to focus on, or denied existence of! And I understood his POV.
We want to live in our fantasy world, think we're perfect and we know it all - with our education, achievements in life, exposure to media and platforms for communication. But honestly, most of us can be quite shallow and self absorbed - with no idea of how biased or weak we are.
I admit I wouldn't have been able to say ''I am proud of being blind'' like the man on the show did. And honestly, I wouldn't have been able to go near a child like Nisha. Even if I had gone near her, I wouldn't be able to give her anything except pity or sympathy. 😕
This episode made me feel I need to learn a lot, change a lot myself - go a long way in terms of my own attitude and actions, before thinking what others should do!
