to this question?...

Amir asks the doctor around the second half of the show...How did female foeticide start?...at that point my vid skipped all the eng subs and i couldn't get the answer...if you remember the answer please do let me know...thanks!😳

he said it started in the 70 's when a papper was published by the AIMS in delhi that population is incresing and it can be cantrolled if the just aborted the female feotus as people only want boys to be born the practice was started around that time.

thanks change12...omg that is how female foeticide started?😲...i think he mentioned also about the use of scans made the situation easier for this to increase i think (he said scans in eng😳)...i wish i can see that AIMS paper...how irresponsible and heartless

Yup...he said that earlier it was riskier to check the gender of the foetus as it could lead to abortion...but with ultra sound the test was safer and simpler..by the time government realised that it has goofed up big time it was too late...and that's how gov so called strategy back fired...

P.S-I can't believe it that some one actually came up with such a policy...it's barbaric...

thanks Super Kool...very barbaric indeed...before it was female infanticide (though still practiced)...and instead of suggesting people to stop...they suggest an "easier" way to go about the inhumane act

Just to add...he said the practice was first started/encouraged in government hospital...in an effort to encourage population control...Doctors suggested that patients wanting only boys should abort females. This practice was later shut down.

However, these same doctors moved on into private or other practices taking this idea with them. With the advent of ultra sound machines making sex detection more economically feasible...this has become a big business. It was suggested that some doctors even lie about the sex of the baby (i.e. it could be a boy), just so the patient can go ahead with the abortion and they can make extra money...sick isn't it...🤢

What was a real eye opener is that female foeticide is more prevelant in the bigger cities, in higher educated, and higher socio-economic brackets.

Even worse was the long term ramification of this practice. Not enough girls. Not enough marriage partners...leading to a break down of society, increased crime and rape...even sex trade...🤢

How such jahilana soch still persists in the 21st century is beyond me...

thanks ummesulaiman...what an atrocity...the whole thought process of why a girl child should be considered a waist is beyond my comprehention...and what you have just clarified is telling of another very important motive...the doctors are making money out of...ignorance and greed are a deadly combination...

This is indeed true... sums up everything... I don't understand how people don't understand a child is a gift... discrimanting between boy & girl, what is achieved from that.. and its even more heart wrenching to see educated people taking these measures and the reason behind this.. i don't know...

@ .Divya....yes there should be no discrimantion at all between a boy or a girl...even healthy or unhealthy...its a life at the end of the day...and yes the fact that its the educated that do this the most tells of another issue...we keep saying education is the key to stop it...but what must be learned is not taught in schools or universities aparently...so literancy or education is not necessarily the answer...for even the most humbly formaly uneducated person can know right from wrong...
