According to the industry buzz, actor Sandeep Rajora seen in Sati as Siddharth Raichand, is not happy with the way his role is shaping up. So much so, that the actor is even contemplating to quit the serial. When contacted, Sandeep says, "The focus is only on Sati (played by Manasi Salvi); her personal and professional life. There are other aspects too, which needs to be explored. When the show was launched, there was supposed to be a romantic track revolving around us, which never happened. Right now, I am shown in London and that has been going on for a long time. My fans and I are waiting for me to return to India. I hardly have anything to perform. And since Sati is the lead protagonist, I have no choice but to lose all my cases to her."
Interestingly, this is not the first time that a Sahara protagonist is leaving the show. Earlier too, male protagonists on Sahara have left the shows after it underwent major track changes. And co-incidentally they all thought that their female counterparts got more importance.
Arjun Punjj who left Woh Rehnewaali Mehlon Ki after it took a generation leap, said that he felt cheated when the serial underwent a generation leap because apparently, 'the producers had promised him that there would not be any generation leaps on the show'. And there came a time when he was just made to hang around doing nothing until he quit. However, the female protagonist Reena Kapoor is still continuing with the show.
Likewise, Swapnil Joshi and Mihir Misra left Hare Kaanch Ki Choodiyaan after it was revamped. Swapnil says, "When I was told about the revamp, I saw no place for my character's growth. I was also told that my character might be introduced again. This certainly sounded vague. It makes us bid the show goodbye with a hope that we may be called back. I am still waiting for that call. I think some importance should be given to the male characters as well."
Purnendu Bose, COO Sahara One Television, says, "It is not that we do not promote male characters. Koh-i-noor was an exception and currently in Kituu Sab Jaanti Hai, Rohan's character (played by Amit Verma) is getting due importance. But one must not forget that the target audience are women and our serials are sojourns of the female protagonist, which justifies our stand."
