CHAPTER 15
After the marriage, though reluctantly, Roli and Siddhant headed to get blessings from elders. They had no idea of what was happening with them. Both were enthusiastic individuals and their parents had always supported the decisions that they took. But today, for the very first time in their lives, their parents forced something on their head. And that thing was something really significant in their lives. Both had concepts about their individual life partners and they couldn't, at the present situation fit each other to that concept. Rajendhar, Sujatha and Meena blessed them though they had a strong weight in their hearts. But as for Jamnalal he moved away as rosid bend to take his blessings. It really hurt Roli. She was her Papa's buddy since her birth. And today, he was going away from her for a reason in which she had no hand at all. Sid too felt really bad on seeing it; he felt he was responsible for all these.
After a while, it was time for Roli to leave her home. The home wherein she had lead 18 years of her life. It was in this little lawn where she had run playing with her mom disagreeing to have food, it was in this swing where she laid in her papa's lap and they talked of all several thousand things under the sun. All seemed like yesterday and today she was leaving. It was not a farewell with good memories; it was too bitter. She stared at each object in the hall as if recreating its picture in her mind. Sujatha could sense Roli's feelings and said "Roli beta...go to your room and come...then we'll leave..." Though hesitantly, as a duty of mother, Meena said "ji...I'll pack Roli's clothes..." "No need meenaji...I've asked one of Siddhant's cousin sister Sonia to fetch some dresses and necessary items...She don't know about roil, but yet, she'll do that...So let Roli's stuff be here..." Jamnalal was about to cut Sujatha's words but Meena's cautious look made him stop. He didn't want anything of his daughter in that home which would remind him of her and her memories and above all, her betrayal. "Go Roli..." said Sujatha again. "No aunty...We'll go...I don't have anything to take from that room..." said Roli in a deep voice. Sujatha held Roli's hands and looked in to Roli's tearful eyes. "Beta...call me Maaji...I know it's difficult for you to accept the new conditions...but believe me, everything will be back to normal...Very soon..." Roli forced ma smile on Sujatha's consoling words. She knew how hollow the words are. She felt that nothing would be normal now. Everything has finished, everything.
CHAPTER 16
Bharadwaj house welcomed its new daughter in law in the most posh manner. All though everything happened so soon, Sujatha managed to arrange all the traditional functions. She had dreamed every function of her son's marriage. Situations had ended the scope of many of them, but she couldn't let the rest go. She did each one of them, but Roli and Sid's thoughts were not there. Roli became furious as Sujatha asked her to play the ring finding game with Siddhant. She all at once said she can't. She was fed up with the things happening with her since morning and now this silly game idea could make her mad. Sujatha felt really bad but Jhanvi said it was okay. She in fact felt that her mom was overreacting since morning. In fact, it was because of her short temper and foolish decision Sid and Roli had ended up in such a trap. As for Sid, Roli's denial didn't make any effect on him but his mother's hurt did. But he couldn't respond as his mother was responsible in getting her in to a relationship which, neither he nor she wished.
Time ticked nine. All the family had their dinner together. Roli and Sid had no mind but managed to have some for pleasing elders. Roli couldn't be hard with Sid's family though it was their decision which had brought her life to such a stand. She felt that the ultimate reason behind all this was Siddhant. She believed that it was his plan to marry her and he just worked it thorough his innocent mother. Her anger for him had no bounds; she hated him to the core. The dinner seemed like one in a home where a death has happened rather than a wedding home. Finally after dinner it was time for Roli to move to Sid's room. Roli had already changed in to casuals and Sujatha felt it awkward to ask her to change to any of those heavy bridal wears. But it was her son's first night. She couldn't let things down. So she had arranged their bedroom in the most romantic manner. Before leaving Roli, she too had a word with her. Roli incessantly tucked the ringlets that fell over her face behind her ears as Sujatha said her that everything was fate and now she could forget everything and start a new life with Siddhant. The poor lady had thought that Roli and Siddhant were madly in love with each other but was in some fight now due to the happenings. But Roli was way too tired giving explanations. So she kept quiet. She just smiled at Sujatha and headed towards Sid's room. As she entered the room, she found Siddhant sitting hopeless amongst the well decorated bedroom. Roli had foreseen this drama as well. So she didn't get a shock. She slowly entered the room and closed the door. Sid was almost in a mood to pull of his entire hair off his head. One day and his whole world is change. Now Roli was his wife. They should share their room together. As Sid thought all these he felt it a necessity to explain everything to Roli thought the success of the attempt was not that bright. "Roli...I know you're upset with the happenings...but truly, I have no hand in it...I swear..." He said holding his throat innocently. Roli now crossed her arms and stood with a serious expression. "Did I ask you?" she made him mum with her single question. She had a lot inside her to put out. But she decided she'd remain calm. She didn't want to admit failure before Sid by shouting at him or by crying. Whatever she got to say, she'd say it clean and clear, without a single block. As for Sid he knew how to reply to her preposterous retort. But he felt to respect her feelings. So he kept quiet. "You think I'm a fool? But you're wrong Mr. Bharadwaj...I know everything..." said Roli. Sid tried to be calm but his blood pressure was shooting up. "I never thought you'd do such a low thing to defeat me...but hear...hear well...though you managed to make me your wife before the society, you can never be my husband...And listen well...today I have fallen so low before my father's eyes...But now, I'll make you fall low before the entire world...And I know, I can do that..." sad Roli impulsively. Now Sid lost it. He had never heard this much from anyone. Anyone would have lost his/her tooth if they had said this much to him. But he was behaving way too soft with her. But no; not more. He was silent and it seemed that this girl was playing bangda' over his head. So Sid lifted his head straight and looked directly in to Roli's eyes. "You think you can do everything...Oh pity...you got such a big misunderstanding...Whatever the situation is there is some limit for actions...you can't do more than that...but you're a kind of girl who thinks that the whole world is upon your head...then how can you see truth and how can you stop this over reacting...Now I'm telling you...I'm not responsible for anything...neither the posters that was stuck over those walls nor this marriage...You can believe if you wish to..." "Oh really...you'd better say to this to a three year old child...maybe it'll believe..." said Roli impulsively. "You're worse than a three year old in wits..." taunted Sid. "You..." said Roli. "Enough...enough...don't raise too much voice...this isn't your college...it's my room...so keep your lips tight..." said Sid... Roli's nostrils flared in anger at Sid's words. But Sid didn't mind to look up at the sherni who was all set for a war. He removed his chappals and was about to lie on his bed when Roli stopped him. "What are you gonna do?" she asked confused. "Me? Can't you see? I'm gonna sleep..." said Sid with a ridiculing smile. "You can see that you're going to sleep...But why on bed?" asked Roli. "Oh come on...where else will I sleep if not on my bed? On your head or what?" asked Sid. This reply made Roli furious again. "I'm asking you were will I sleep if you sleep on bed? I can't sleep on couch or anywhere and besides that I can't share my bed with you..." Now Sid could see the entire picture. Sid smiled in a mocking way again. "Oh ho...so princess is planning that...And what did you say your bed' ? To your kind attention, this is my bed and I'm gonna sleep on it...I can't sleep on couch as well...not in this life...And you're the intruder...So you should find the place for you..." saying the he jumped to the bed decorated with rose petals. Ro9oli couldn't tolerate the scene. So impulsively, she too laid on the bed. Sid was like what the hell. "Get out..." said Sid angrily. "No...I won't" said Roli. "Okay...sleep there itself... But don't have too much trust on me...At night if I feel something and if I cross limits..." Sid said raising his eyebrows. Roli instantly looked away in tension but soon realized that it may be his trick to put her off his bed. So she smiled teasingly and said "Oh ho...No problem...I will keep these pillows amid us and if you cross this barrier, no worries, I'll just break your limbs...Roli knows to take care of herself..." "Aahaa..." asked Sid pointing her fingers to her. "Aahaa..." replied Roli. "Aahaa..." said Sid accepting his defeat. He turned against her as she arranged pillows between them and turned against him. Sid was thinking of the events of the day and it's dramatic culminations while Roli was silently in tears thinking of the drastic turn her life had taken. After many thoughts, both drifted off to sleep unknowingly.
