I agree with anu rulz and Anu (nureat01).
I guess maybe Suhana is a little confused regarding what she wants etc. but this whole show is about her JOURNEY. I think that's what people need to understand about her character. It's CONSTANTLY changing and growing! She's unpredictable, has multiple mood swings, maybe confused, in her own world, etc. etc. but the point is that her character is always developing with each moment in her life. And with each interaction she shares with all of the family members.
All of the family members have something to give to Suhana. Some experience or teach or something, with which Suhana's character grows for the better. And in return Suhana too has something to offer to all of the family members.
So you can't really DESCRIBE Suhana as such because her character is NEVER constant. With each episode, we discover a new side to her, she grows and her character as a whole develops further.
I don't know...that's how I interpret it I guess and it makes for really great viewing. It's fun to see how Suhana's character is changing and her journey.
And like Anu said, her character needs to be followed very closely to be related to or understood. I think the thing is, that she's not a STANDARD character in any way. She can't be defined, which is what I LOVE and appreciate about this character/show SO much!
Normally, in other tv shows, you can easily describe a character in one way or another. A spoiled brat, a mahaan bahu, an evil vamp, a bubbly charekterrr, a geeky types...etc. etc. the list goes on. I mean we basically get the same old recycled characters in almost all tv shows. So it's very easy to define them.
But with Suhana, it's not so easy. She has many layers to her. She invokes SO many emotions out of us. I mean one minute she annoys the heck out of us, the next she makes us smile, cry, makes us warm up to her adorableness, makes us sympathize with her, angry at her antics, shake our heads hopelessly at her,....LOL you get the drift right? It is for all these emotions that makes Suhana SO different and such an AMAZINGLY refreshing character!
And it's not like the show doesn't justify whatever Suhana does. So I def. don't blame the writers for her character sketch at all. We've seen her be lonely and miss her mom, we've seen WHY she's behaved the way she did with Rajni and Disha, we've seen WHY she ran off leaving Ishaan with his khatara scooter (LOLLL), you know? It's all been shown and justified so it makes sense.
I guess there's many ways to interpret Suhana's character since there's SO much to her. But I think it's more about how her character GROWS that we need to look for, rather than how she behaves at ONE point of time, you know what I mean?
I mean come on, this girl who in the beginning hated the fact that she had to come live with such a large family is now craving to talk/ be with family members!! She HERSELF wants to spend time with her family members. She's warming up to them on her own, she's making the effort!!! I think that counts for SO much! I think it's these little changes in Suhana that count for SO much more than her randomness, mistakes and crazy momentary antics. Suhana is someone who needs to be understood for what she is deep inside: CRAVED for love and understanding. Deep down, she's really VERY simple, it's only outside she appears so complicated and confused with her mood swings and random antics. 😆
Just my two cents. :)
Also wanted to add, (as if this post isn't long enough already 😳), that I think you're right that Suhana IS confused! She herself is battling with herself with all these inner conflicting emotions and values. And I think that scene with Ishaan of hers previously where Ishaan tells her that she herself doesn't know what she wants is SO SO significant. It kind of provides insight to us about Suhana as well as TO Suhana herself. It allows her to reflect back on herself too. She's been brought up a certain way, lived a certain way of life and all her life she's been SURE of what she wants. And whatever she's wanted, she's got right away. But now, she's in different atmosphere, with SO many changes happening that she herself is confused. She's battling with herself regarding her previous state of mind regarding Sid, money, car, fancy things etc. AND warming up to the family members. So that's why all these conflicting emotions are coming out of her. She's as confused with herself as we are with her! 😆 So I think the creatives are handling her character very intelligently when the audience is in the exact state of mind as the character herself no? ;)
