Flashback:
8 years ago,
Location: London.
Kumud-15 years, Saras-17.5 years
(NOTE: The flashback will be from the narrator's point of view and some details in it will be unknown to Kumud and some unknown to Saras.)
Kumud was lost in her thoughts as she sat in the yard of a high school in London. She was brought back when she heard the constant teasing of her friend, Kumari who could not spend a day without bickering.
"Still thinking about him?" Kumari asked her teasingly.
"What are you talking about?" Kumud replied, though she knew it was quite obvious from her behavior that her thoughts were preoccupied about someone.
"Come on Kumud, don't put on an act that you don't know what we are talking of, " Anushka, another friend of Kumud said as she joined them, " We are talking about the hot Saraswatichandra Vyas, the one whom you keep thinking about," Anushka concluded as she and Kumari started laughing while Kumud blushed a bit and kept quiet but she declined it," I think that you both have gone mad," Kumud shook her head in disapproval and she stood up and started walking away.
Kumud was walking along the empty corridors of the establishment and as she thought, of the conversation that occurred, she blushed...
Saraswatichandra Vyas, also known as Saras was a few years older to her, and he was extremely popular. Nearly, all girls drooled on him and Kumud was one of them, however, she knew that it would be only a fantasy of imagining a relationship with him as he would barely keep his eyes on her, he was surrounded by his friends and as he belonged to a wealthy family, he was given a lot of attention.
Kumud's thoughts came to a halt as she bumped into someone. She rebuked herself for her stupidity and she apologized, "I am sorry, I was not looking where..." Her words got stuck somewhere in her throat as she saw that she had bumped into the person she was thinking about, her eyes were fixed on him. Saras saw her nervous face and he smirked as he thought,"
There we go, another one!" He was aware of the effect he had on girls, however, there was something about her that made his heart skip a beat, she looked so innocent, just like an angel, no not like an angel, she was an angel herself, her mesmerizing eyes and her divine facial features...
Kumud's breaths hastened when she saw Saras looking at her, but she was disappointed when he took a step backwards and said with a smile, "It's ok." He then walked away, leaving Kumud smiling to herself.
-Some days after-
Kumud was removing some things out of her locker; she dropped some papers as she was hastily removing her stuffs. She sighed, when she saw the papers on the floor, she was going to be late than she already was for her next classes. She sighed as she bent down to collect her papers. She managed to collect most of them, she neatly arranged them but there was a last one that got left out. Kumud went to pick that up but it was already held out by someone. She got up and saw that it was Saras, he handed her it and said," Here you go," Kumud thanked him with a smile and she was about to leave but Saras held her wrist. Kumud felt that his touch sent chills down her spine, she shyly, turned towards him. Saras walked closer to her, the way she was blushing made his lips curve into a smile, the sight was so breath-taking, no wonder, he decided to help her when he saw her. Saras wanted to get to know about her more, since he bumped into her some days back.
" Are you in a hurry?" Saras asked her, Kumud could not say yes despite she wanted to so she only said a no'.
"So, would you mind telling me your name?" Saras asked her.
"I'm Kumud," she said with a smile.

That was the first time when they struck a conversation with each other. After that, Saras would often sneak out of his group only to meet Kumud and they had become good friends with each other. Saras knew that Kumud had feelings for him, it was obvious from the time she first talked to him but as they got to know each other more, Kumud was more comfortable around him and she behaved normally too. Saras thought of her as a friend only even though he was aware of her feelings but still he was perplexed, he was sort of attracted to her... but he did not admit it, he always shrugged that thought off.
On the other hand, Saras's friends were jealous seeing him hang out with Kumud more, they thought how can he like such a person's company but little did they know that he preferred Kumud's simplicity than their extravagance and their flattering'. Both of them got to know about their likes and dislikes thereon and that is how Kumud got to know that Saras hated Science and he would pursue in any other field but not the science field.
Once Saras had reached the high school with a broken leg as he had met with an accident. His friends had shown fake sympathy for him while Kumud had shown genuine care for him, he could not help in seeing the contrast. This accident had an impact on Saras's life then on, as his left leg was injured and that made him limp whenever he would walk.
-One Tuesday afternoon-
"We should do something about this girl," Said Vicky, one guy in Saras's friend circle.
"You are right, since he has met her, he has been distancing himself from us and this can get worse," said another guy who was named Alex.
"But what can we do? He is so damn protective of her, I mean who is she for him, he does not look at her in that way," Vicky said as he tried to toss the ball into the hoop but he missed it. They were at the basketball court of the high school and in all, there were three persons present, Vicky, Alex and Rohit. They were in the same grade and they all used Saras for his money and he was also the one who help them to get their daily doses and no one would doubt him since he was the son of such a famus business man. They feared that if would abandon them, then they would have to strive to meet with their needs. They had pulled him with them into their bad habits and Saras had also started consuming drugs but he changed his habits after being with Kumud, he did not let her know about it obviously but her presence itself was enough for him, in other words, he was addicted to her.
Rohit who was quiet all this while butted in the conversation, "Well, there is something which we can do, if we can get rid of that little b*tch and instigate Saras against her then, things will be like before,"
"Rohit, you are delivering great speeches and I suggest you to keep doing so while we all end up in a mental asylum due to our withdrawal from drugs, it's been such a long time since we have laid our hands on it." Alex said sarcastically.
"Stuff it Alex! I have a plan for it," Rohit smirked.
"What is it?" Vicky questioned.
Rohit started explaining what plan he had and the scene blurred...
