Arshicsji, thanks for the bytes. I caught all the episodes in one go mainly to get a glimpse of the family reunion. But firstly I'd like to scream why the Howard chandra never seeks the help of expert medical care or professional legal help when it is most needed. Alas, what a contrast in execution between saras encounter and that of the family with SM. While the former brought the intensity on to the screen the latter set in the tedium. The difference was the striking performances of the leads apart from the build-up to the scenario and the intense atmosphere. At the haveli all went awry due to samud's tactless handling, desais's inept and puzzled act kabir's 'at a loss' etc. In fact this reunion was given more time and space than the previous one. Even then the commitment of the actors and the execution had taken a severe beating. Mainly saras's performance didn't not even reach out to me due to the separate frame and was out of sync. (Frankly to me he appeared like a ringmaster who managed the desais circus and guided them all from a distance). Jen's performance has mostly been sketchy and her expressions a mismatch in the solo shots. Why always there is huge coordination problems concerning the leads? A surfeit of BDs and solo shots of leads largely diminish the effect of the crucial scenes. The funniest part is that the entire desais assemble in SM's room and give those distorted expressions while s & k standing in separate frames as astral bodies who attain fulfilment on hearing the lori or as sorrowful 'spirit' who watch the ott SM helplessly, from another plane.
Many big loopholes like why samud didn't give clear and prior information about SM's condition? Why desais are insensitive and unconscious of her state and go on treating her normally? When SM is totally lost in the past how come she feels an affinity and forms a relationship only with saras? How can the nurse subvert the mind of SM and exert a strong -ve influence within a very short span of time? When she can achieve this the family too can accomplish the task of restoring SM to her senses with their understanding, profuse love and support and more importantly with therapy and counselling. SM's anti-kumud tirade is an overdone show and unconvincing. In this whole thing the attention to detail was quite imprecise.
Whatever may be the theme it finally boils down to samud separation and kumud character butchery. Her constant crybaby avatar is irksome and unimpactful. She must be sensible, strong-willed and supportive of saras at least in this mission. But no, it seems it might be another recycle, rinse and repeat of kumud 'phenomenon'. The real concern is that the talented actress is being heavily typecast for a long period of time.
The latest ploy of gumaan is moronic and irrelevant from SM's perspective. She treats the doll as saras, but in the same breath calls him chandra. In spite of being badly retarded she talks of marriage and even force him into it! Shoddy and stereotypical characterization. In the same manner arti was initially shown to be helpless, vulnerable and pushed into doing this, but now her portrayal lacks any sense of guilt and behaves like proxy of kalika. The current writers never pay attention to characters' consistency and also can not conceive grey characters.
Here I would like to draw parallel with the fake amnesia track. The mockery of sensitive and serious issues still continues in the show. Both amnesia and mental trauma are matters of grave concern. The cvs handled it with utmost insensitivity that led to mishandling both saras character and the truth and honesty in samud relationship. The basic criteria that people facing these problems primarily need professional help with able assistance from family was neglected. Now the story repeats itself, but the issue being mental illness and kumud, the victim. In both tracks saras, a learned and solicitous person remains ignorant and foolhardy. Both the premise are faulty and don't make any sense from both of their (s & k) perspective. The sensitive and alarming issues have been trivialised. There saras faking memory loss as a solution to kumud's trauma is beyond one's comprehension. Here even worse, no appropriate professional treatment and no sensible efforts from family. When saras resorted to dishonest ways to manipulate kumud under the guise of help and love his integrity, love, respect and commitment in their relationship went for a toss. Here largely kumud who is devoid of rational thinking aggravates the situation and doesn't value saras's feelings and their relationship and saras too doesn't stand up for his wife and marriage. In both cases cvs demean the very nature of samud relationship.
This track too will come to an end at jetspeed. After arti gets caught, bringing back LN should be the next right move since he may play a major role in SM's recuperation. Their confrontations, emotional intimacy, mutual confessions and understanding could be dealt with along with a liberal dose of samud and dansum scenes and a little dose of gumaan's slapstick comedy (until her chapter closes). Anyways don't intend to watch the rest of the saas-bahu clash till the next twist.
