Saraswatichandra...The role was made for him. The character has been moulded by Gautam Rode in such a way that Saras's existence is due to Gautam only.

In a rightful manner, a perfect ending to this show would be that Saras and Kumud remain united but if it came to Saras being played by another actor, then this is not possible in any universe. We all know it, Saras and Gautam are one soul. They cannot be separated.

Saras is a character we will never forget thanks to Gautam and forever we want to keep his memories with Gautam in mind and no one else. With that, its better they end the character of Saras than replace it. Though I don't see why they cant just end the show.

However, Saras belongs to Gautam and no one else and yes it will shred our hearts into pieces when Saras dies but I think if they had replaced him with another actor, that for me would be the end of the Saras I know anyway.

Gautam has made us fall in love with Saras. The first time we saw Saras sky diving and his aura when he comes out of the sea. The Saras that did not smile. The Saras that wanted to stay away from love.

Our Saras who then went to Ratnanagri...The first time he saw his Kumud's face...That kite scene where he holds his hand...

In each of these scenes...Gautam made us fall In love with Saras then how would we have ever accepted Saras in the form of another actor. Absolutely not.

Gautam not being part of SC is unimaginable but Saras not being Gautam is unacceptable.

SP and the PH have played a cruel game with us and Gautam but hopefully we will all be able to cherish what Gautam has given us as Saras and find some comfort in knowing that there was only ever one Saras and he was played by Gautam Rode.

Gautam has created history with Saras and people will never forget him as Saras and I am atleast happy that it will remain this way. People remember SRK as Devdaas despite him dying in the film. They still talk about the character he played. This is the same with Gautam...he will forever be remembered as Saras. No one can take that away from him and in that sense the channel are doing a favour on us by not replacing Gautam.

But Kat Devdas is 19th century character and well accepted by heart condition, Our heart also wants a happy ending, he will die and kumud forever will romance with letter (won't watch, but no man accepted for saraswatichandras kumud), can't they end this show with a happy note? Is it so difficult? now we want happy ending why can't those SP people end this show. They don't have a replacement, but they can run few old SHOWS EPISODE for some time.

This would be the perfect ending Lindz...this is what I want...I just want them to show the last epi with samud and their little paltan!
But since that isn't happening I am glad that they not just replacing the actor because for me that would be much worse.
Samud will always be special and once GR goes I am not watching the show so to me Kumud moving on with another man means nothing. I wont know whats going on so I wont care...like they say ignorance is bliss!
In my head and heart, the two live happily ever after. What they will show after is not SC but a spin off for which I care a damn.
If they replace Gautam and expect that we will accept another actor as Saras then they have another thing coming for them.

It's just that SLB promised us that adhoori dastaan will be poori. And anyway, after going through so much, Saras and Kumud deserve to be together happily ever after.
What message are they giving to fans? Don't expect anything from us, we will sacrifice anything at the altar of TRP?

How is it a love story anymore, without Saras? He was the rock in this relationship, the one who held their marriage together.

And as for Gautam! Very rarely do we get to see an actor who lives his role with so much commitment and passion that the character acquires life through the actor.

If Gautam was lucky to land this role, SLB and the CVs were equally lucky to get Gautam, for never for a moment, even when he donned the ridiculous Toni Singh or Chandri acts, could we fault his performance.

With his sweat, blood and tears he has played Saras, and I seriously believe that while Gautam will still find more roles that match his talent, the channel will never find another actor who can do even 10% justice to Saras !

He has been always there, giving his best, on a personal front, he has displayed commitment, honesty, approachability, he is always well groomed and well turned out, full of fun.

Anyway, I too a relieved that the PH has decided to not get anyone else to replace him, I guess they too reliased that to even attempt that is an act of stupidity

I wish the show would end, take a leap of an year, show Kumud Saras and a pyaara sa ladoo, looking at a happy future ahead. But ...

The thing is its not hard to do but end of the day like you say its a business for them. They don't want to give up any revenues when they don't have another show to replace with.
What they don't understand is they will get higher trps if they end the show on a happy note and repeat telecast from the start until they find their new show! I would happily watch it all over again..esp the first few months were magical! People will watch it.
There is no logic in dragging this show without Saras but since GR has confirmed it himself I cant see them changing their minds now.
IPKKND ended due to fans petition and demand but was given the worst ending ever...so seems like us viewers always lose out in such situations.

Agree with you Kat , The first few months are so magical. They can repeat telecast them rather showing those crap and tragedy due to replacement problem.

I know..why make the storyline such that it makes you cringe...a part of me is glad Gautam is no longer a part of it and hoping as soon as he leaves, Jen quits.
I just cant get my head around why they cant just end it...why show all this non sensical things..makes you value SLB and Arvind Babbal though eh. That era of SC was something else altogether.

I see the these channels and production house really take their actors for granted in some cases whilst at the same time giving lee ways to others. This entertainment industry whether tv or cinema exploit people because they know that the supply is big.
Pity that gautam Rode has been treated in such a way. Howver I wish him luck in his next venture and definitely once Gautams track ends I stop watching Saraswatichandra.

Can't say about SRK as Devdaas(you youngsters think he is too good while seniors have a different opinion). But, GR as Saras is something unique. He brought that look, honesty, purity, innocence, sophistication and soul to the character. He is way better than the Saras of the movie.
He really made it iconic. His performance is on par with some great performances on silver screen. When I think of Saras, I think of performances of Amitabh n Rajesh Khanna in Anand. He is not there at their level, but definitely in that mould.
While the PH is lucky to have Gautam, I feel he is more lucky to have got that role. This role showcased him like none other. He really made it into the big league. His magnum opus.
In the initial episodes, I thought his performance was very average. But, as the character traits and his past came out and as the story moved forward, he just conquered my imagination. All the earlier stoicism seemed appropriate.
I would like to thank the initial casting director of SLB's team for picking him. They said his eyes speak a lot. Bang on.
