...this track's worse coz its already evolving into a more lecherous touchy - touchy style...take away the so called mystery behind the wall angle and we seem to be having this creep actually looking at kumud in a sexual way and making advances ...

...yuck!...

...caught up with last 2 epis today after reading Arshi's comments...could not figure out if the Samud track was a SC or a Crime Patrol / Savdhan India type show...

...L'affaire kusum was a kindergarten show in comparision...I do not recollect anything overtly physical in kusum's infatuation with saras...except that one scene in the end when kusum deliberately bumps into saras...but that was at the end of that track..

...I read somewhere that show extension will be decided in sept and TRPs seem to have risen...

... If both realize the game how will the story move?...

...if TRPs continue to increase...Methinks to introduce 'tension' & 'suspense' kumud will be made the dumb one as blindly sympathetic to whatever sob story the creep will conjure and saras will be the guy who will eventually get it, but whose attempts to expose the creep will be thwarted...

...and so expect this to steadily degrade into a B-grade TV show territory (story-wise)

Hgg Bhai ...

So Good to see you here ... and get another opportunity to read your views on all that is happening in the Show ... 😊

It is always such a pleasure to read your brilliant , cogent analysis of the current goingons ...

@ Bold above in Black ... You are absolutely Right ... ( as always ) 😃

I was just verbalizing my hope ... Hoping against Hope actually...

But we all know that this Nonsense is not ending any time soon ...

The track shall be stretched out to ridiculous lengths ... with our " Divine Couple " being complete Dunderheads ... who shall continue living in Ignorant Bliss ... impervious to all the Horrible , Sleazy... and Lecherous advances of that Psycho ...

@ Bold above in Pink ...You are Spot on with your Prognosis for the future of this track...

I can absolutely see this happening for the next month or so ... with our " Dumbo Sundari " being shown as falling for his Sob stories ... while Saras ke Dimaag Ki Ghantii starts ringing ... though that too very faintly to start with ...

and this shall probably lead to some MisUnderstandings too... as was mentioned in some articles.

Since this is now a Soap like any other ... so obviously we have no hope in heaven to see such issues getting resolved quickly ... they shall be dragged on forever ...

otherwise as you mentioned above so rightly how shall the Show go on for months on end ...The current crop of Writers obviously do not want to put in some extra efforts to think up something New ... something more Intelligent than the same cliched stuff ...

I would like to say here that the Track of the " Obsessive - Psycho " had potential for Drama and Suspense ...

How i wish the treatment was different ...Better...with some Creativity ... rather than venturing into this Lecherous and "Touchy " territory ...If only the Writers had put in some more effort ... Siigghh...

Thanks a lot for staying in touch ... and continuing to Post here ... 😊

As Anu and Arshi said so Beautifully a few days back ...

Hum Toh Aadat se Majboor Hain... Saras Se Prem aur Moh Hamaari Toh Aadat Ban Gaya Hai ! 😃

Please do keep on dropping in here like this ... it rejuvenates us ... gives us all a big boost ... 😊

You said it right on Mumbai track...

I felt the same when it abruptly started...especially since my faith in the mediocricity of the current writers is more stronger than yours 😉...

...however there was so much excitement in the forum when this track started that I did not want to rain down on it...especially since I do not see the show nowadays...so why spoil the mood?

...considering the show is being shot in mumbai, shooting a show in a flat is much cheaper than:
- maintaining a huge set (physical infrastructure which will need maintenance even if it is a set),
- stylish costume inventory for the women in cast, especially for kumud
- shoot time (getting entire female cast ready with costumes, managing these during the shoot, waiting for the hairdo setting etc. etc.) ...

Now all kumud might need is to just put on a dress, blow dry her hair and you are ready to go...Noticed in the epis I watched yesterday that this anushka is also in a jeans and tshirt/dress all the time...real easy- weasy...😎

...Agree with you that the problem is on a more fundamental level - the creative story.

On one hand the writers seem to want to adhere to the essence of the source which is:
1) the travails of saraswatichandra (not kumud) and how it impacts everyone (especially seperation from kumud)...which would make this a male protagonist driven show
2) placed in a similar (and modern) cultural setting - the village of RN & Mumbai.

On the other hand TRPs dictate:
1) a women-centric show, complete with mundane stereotyped housewifey stuff like going to market, elaborate food making, hubby comes first etc.
2) dumbing down and negligible presence of the male in a modern setting ...this one has saras doing some 'important' stuff no one knows about (like in all those umpteen shows where the males are suited - booted and run some crores of buisness)
3) an external villian or villianess/vamp...
4) stupid younger siblings who provide 'comic' relief by trying to be 'endearing'.

Now, if the writers are the TRP show types, the center of gravity is shifting towards the 'other hand'...add the economic reason's, upcoming renewal date and they just cannot experiment with any meaningful or realistic adaption in the story...and so we are stuck with the lowest common denominator - just another TV soap...

...and that's a real problem due to the residual memory for some of us - the previous generation of fans - and we really can't do anything about it...

Na Biwi Na Bachha Na Baap Bada Na Maiyan
The Whole Thing Is That Ke Bhaiya Sabse Bada Rupaiya

p.s.
Lal04-
Like your posts...I guess would have loved to exchange notes if you had been around in the halcyon days where the story was prime, was real and drove some of us oldies nuts with its subtleties...

Hgg Bhaii ...

Thanks for another Brilliant Exposition !! 👏

Your analysis of the Logistics ... the Economics ... underlying the daily episode shoots ... and the TRP games is always so insightful ... 😊

As regards us oldies ... We are Tied to the Memories of the days of yore ...

The current crop of CVs can not comprehend nor weave 'greyness' into a character even if their life's at stake. One of the main reasons why I stopped watching the show in the middle is because of the the ham handed approach they took in the reconciliation between Saras and LN. All his wayward improprieties have been swept under the carpet by painting another well written (by SLB's team) although badly acted role of Ghuman, pitch black. Unless there is a major overhaul of the back-end team starting with the designer (who has the suckiest sartorial sense of style: I haven't seen a single change or makeover done to the entire supporting cast during the course of the show so far, and Kumud's dressing isn't upto the mark either) to most importantly the writers who incidentally haven't changed after Hegde and Borkar left the show, we really can not expect any kind of improvement to this dull and boring and illogical drivel with hundred million gaping loopholes and shortcomings in the narrative. Honestly these writers are committing a cardinal sin by attempting to come up with psychological thrillers (I was really expecting an intriguing exposition set for Prashant but who was I kidding!) after what they did to the London track. It just seems to me that that the deadline has been set for the show to come to an end and the makers are filling it up with whatever that comes to their minds without putting much thought into characters' history and back stories.

Since we are talking about writers, in today's Mumbai Mirror TV actor Surekha Sikri says " I get frustrated because I wish the (TV) script writers were more educated about their work...they have some ideas which they string together, but display lack of structure. Sometimes, it gets boring. "

@ Rose, Shrija
It's good to know that actors too feel the frustration of working with substandard plots. Most of the times they feel compelled to defend the plot of maintain a diplomatic silence about it. I had once read an interview from one of the established writers ( I forget the name) as how they like to start new shows and then move out as after a while the shows do not offer them any creative satisfaction.

So I think the pattern seems to be, get one of the top class writers and directors for the initial few episodes, then when they have a loyal viewer base, who will be hooked on the show and watch it irrespective, replace them with the more run of the mill lot who then are just required to keep rehashing some mediocre stuff till the channel pulls the plug on the show.

@Arshics Dear Arshicsji, thanks a lot for responding today. For my last 2 or 3 posts I didn't get your reply which was a bit disappointing. Perhaps you might have overlooked them owing to your busy schedule. (Pls, no need to clarify). Just now saw your message, thank you very much for your kind recognition. Even 4 days ago with your kind permission (the one you didn't grant) I digressed from the topic and had expressed my views on the nature of award shows and the current system of awards in your column (w.r.t star parivaar). I do keep posting at irregular intervals nowadays, but not so frequently or constantly as I did before. The reason is new commitments on the professional front and added work pressure. Now mostly I indulge in binge - watching 2 or 3 episodes and if time permits I come here to take a sneak peek at your apt and comprehensive bytes. Even if I miss an episode in-between it is no big deal and certainly makes no difference to the 'follow-up'. That is the present status of our show where any chance of redemption or revival is out of sight. Notwithstanding the time constraint, if the product delivered is substantial or impressive we can find time to write some review. But it offers nothing even for the loyal fans to be inspired and to give constant support and appreciation. Arshicsji, your sense of positivity and your persistent effort to present a sensible and entertaining feedback always amaze me. Also I am curious to know what inspires you even now in this show. We all know the show is currently at its creative low. Often I feel the show attracts more praise and less criticism than is its due from us biased fans. Personally I don't want to be too cynical about the show irrespective of its content (btw you are too generous) because ultimately the choice is ours and I don't know if it is the weakness or favouritism towards the leads that is driving us still. The vision and essence of the show is long dead and the leading characters saras and kumud are unable to recreate the old-world charm and magic. My personal interest and prejudice is rapidly waning and the habitual viewer in me may vanish soon. In the good-old SLB days we (me & my friends) were addicted to the show because of its class, concept, wonderful aesthetics, the leads, new dimension of romance, solid story, sophistication and a unique 'ehsaas' and 'purity' it created. In some of my earlier posts I have reminisced, recollected and referred to them elaborately. During that period due to my new job and its demands I was restricted to just watching the show. Later I used to visit IF and I was your fan (I'm still) and enjoyed reading your bytes. The brilliant show and the attractive content of every episode offered ample scope for critical appreciation then. Now I strongly feel even our dedicated hero GR finds no variety or inspiration from his role or the project. It's high time he started to look ahead to better career prospects and greener pastures.

Lal04, sorry for not replying to your posts earlier, just work commitments!

I too hope that the show ends, and we are left with fond memories. Gautam too will easily find something better, I am sure. The story has run it's course and now it's just another run of the mill story

Shana, well said about lack of sixth sense in Kumud and her pyaar mein lattoo laddoo. But kya baar baar yeh obsessive lover wala track is getting overdone Shana. Koi aur story nahi hai kya cvs ke pass?

I like your titles, very apt. SC has gone from bad to cheap to cheapest, could never make myself watch it again I think. I tried but right now I just fumble with remote when its on..
Jenny, never thought of her much as actress, but even GR who I liked, look bored. am sure even he must think of Saras's credentials and actions and think what the hell is wrong with the guy. He has no substance left, Kumud lost hers long time back and extras are just extras, no acting skills or character to support them.. Harvard guy, the IVY leage college don't produce such low esteem guys..
I usually get my update from your post and like the humor in them more than show..
