Saraswatichandra has been the most loved character in the show. Gentle, loving, caring, sensitive to others' feelings and what not. The adjectives used above are mostly Satvic. Those define his persona.
Apart from the above he was lonely, withdrawn, serious too. Till Kumud filled his life with colours. Ofcourse she did irritate him in the process. But she opened up the possibilities that never existed for him.
At the time of his engagement, he was so much in love. But still naive short of confidence. That kind of summed up Saras 1.0.
And when he took that wrong decision which pushed kumud into hell, he realized quickly. And fully. He now had a resolve and a mission just to make her happy. Keep her life in balance. And thereby atone his mistake to an extent. He even erased his identity for this. He went from strength to strength. Learnt how to doubt people, look out for the danger, how to preempt danger, and how to quickly react. He saved his love from fire. And never seemed to take a wrong step after that. There were many roadblocks and he overcame them all with lot of conviction and stood by Kumud like a rock. And became street-smart too. Here again, the development of these qualities and thereby the character was well shown. Can we call it Saras 2.0?
Then came Kusum's marriage and Devpur. He started acting different. Encouraged by Dadaji. Teased n argued with Kumud. Made plans without peoples' knowledge. We cribbed at times but were ok. Because others were worse. Then came the turning point. He was asked to go on his knees n propose in front of elders. He took it as a license to flirt? He got Kumud's nod. And has been unstoppable since. He is happy no doubt. Things are going great for him now. People value him a lot. the whole world is on his side. A person who has struggled so much is most likely to go crazy at this turn of events.
But he anow cts frivolous, loud, silly and what not. He became Kartar Singh just to get a confession. And keeps taking up that avatar at will. Even when he is not KS he often drops his Gujarati identity and acts like a Punjabi. Calls Kumud yaar. Says he doesnt care for any rituals. Fights over n over a moti. Does not remember Rajma. Knows the names of arhar ki daal and toor ki daal but doesnt know that they are the same.
I'm sure not many can understand and appreciate this development in his character. He can be happy but not frivolous and too loud, That's out of his character.
After getting chided by the family he is hell bent on meeting kumud for her haldi. So dresses up as a girl. I am not ready to believe that Saras cant wait for half a day. This cannot be how the character progresses. Its lazy piece of writing.
If CVs are reading this, they might think this is too long and we are too attached. Well, Saraswatichandra for us viewers is the hero of a novel and in this show he has been better than what was in the novel. The expectations were high. Especially after how Kumud's character was twisted and turned. Please treat the character with more care.
Subtelty and restraint define his persona. Want to make it clear that I am loving his happy and bubbly side but cant believe he cant wait for Haldi to be over.
