They seemed to more or less accept the Daag logic...and counters were made in the mosr perfunctory manner...

I agree totally.
But they are losing their defenses. VC tried standing up for his daughter. Guniyal did and Dugbaa too. All of them including Kumud think they already did a very heroic act by this. And they dont have the reserve to fight anymore. I am not saying Kalika's taunts were realistic or RN people are. The taunts are cheap and trp-driven (in their style). But whoever taunts it only hits Desais.
One good thing is Badi kaki is opening her mouth too much. Which means some one will shut this lady up. Be it Kumari, Danny or Saras.

Its not like they accept the daag logic, its an acceptance of peopel will talk carp and you cant argue with them all.

I liked it whe Guniyal said, Kumud is your ahadow and she will not live with a wrong man.

So they support their girls, are not going to give in to pressure, but they cant argue back for those khoti kaki types are garrulous and too block headed to leason to reason anyway.

So I can relate to Kumuds helplessness at all the crap that she and her family have to listen to.

Arshi-

Why shouldn't you fight back, especially to people who give you crap?

You mention that in small towns these things happen,...but I am pretty sure the other party also rebuts as good as it gets?

The portrayal of stupefied expressions and keeping quiet most of the time in that scene...and not highlighting the reasons for kumud leaving, not pushing back against the cradle-snatcher...and just taking it all...just standing there looking sad...just emphasised a message that parents & family in similar situation deserve the gaalis...

Sooo true! In reality if something happens where society talks, you generally tend to ignore them thinking let them bark all they want. In a public place very few pple will go and argue or cause a fuss cos in a way that's what pple like these want from you..a reaction.

N if you are true then you don't need to do or say anything to prove yourself.

Based on this, Kumud shudnt get upset but I guess she feels bad within that they have to hear all this but she has always stood up to all the wrongs infront of evryone. N in that sense she is allowed to let her guard down once in a while.

Most girls would be like this. It's trp aunties who want that the heroine of a serial is there fighting the big bad world and slapping evryone left right n centre.

Arshi- what you have said above is sooo sooo true! Sometimes we forget this very simple truth that if we want a show close to reality then reality is that a girl will cry in such a situation. Most girls anyway. This whole 'today's girls are strong minded' etc is just a perception at times!

Annette-
The original Batman & Robin was a colossal flop...even George Clooney could not save it..
It was left to the Dark Knight crusader to revive the new thinking..

But the thing is no matter what the situation, our culture still boils down to having maryaadas. A young girl is still not expected to say anything to someone who is elder to them no matter what because that is disrespectful. This is the Indian/Asian culture.

You don't always go abt fighting with pple for whatever wrong that is happening. Yes this isn't something that shud be put up with but the choice is either you leave from there or you live amongst it.

Even in western countries, a girl may have a right to speak up but majority still are reminded of their boundaries.

How is this then different than the other dozens of run of the mill romance based shows...

Even if they want to have a balance...and become a Me-Too show...Why not show the lesser of the two evils?...for e.g. BDs coming and saying we got you into this mess, the divorce papers are signed, we will give kanyadan at your remarriage to saras...I hear this is the in thing nowadays

Why do they have to take the Daag step for the catalyst?...

By bringing this as catalyst...and showing Saras as taking the step / courage / decision to contemplate marriage / ask her hand in marriage purely because Kumud is going Boo Hoo over the Daag / Kalank nautanki...

...As CVs they have spat on the entire ordeal of Kumud & her family when she was married, her struggle, her decision to walk out, her courage...and white-washed all of Pramad's evils...

...By actively suggesting that despite everything Pramad stood for...when you walked out you are the one at fault...

@ bold - it isn't really, different from run of the mill stories - at least it's not going to take any steps that are non conformist.

And again by making all the baddies say this daag business, the cvs have actually made it obvious that it's not Kumud who is at fault

Watching SC is becoming a tiring experience for me..

- kumud ke daag ka, mote-mote aasuonka tension

- har din CVs jo analogy denge- patang n dor, diya ko saaf karna, dupatte ka fat jana.. un sab ko understand karne ka tension..

- agar propose karte hua saras ne kuchh galat word use kiya to kumud ke khafa hone ka tension

- if kumud rejects the proposal, saras ke tut jane ka tension

- kusum ke mor pankh ka tension

- if kumari loves danny, uska dil tutane ka tension

- jab danny realizes he is not the first choice for kusum, uss bechare ke hurt hone ka tension..

Am thinking should i continue to expose myself to so much of reel stress... ;)

only saving grace is
- samud scenes with top notch acting (but how i hate it when they intersect Samud scene with some other parallel scene like today's market scene, kusum-gunial scene, kusum witnessing the hug.. pls stop this!!!!)

- plain viewing pleasure given by Gautam

- CB posts and replies

thank god last two never fail to deliver !!

I do think the market scene was a little OTT...but lets face it, families in RN will be gossipong about Kumud's life...it is pretty scandalous by Indian standards...none of the villlagers know or are interested in knowing the depravity of Pramad, and she did come back home with her ex after all...lets face, it tongues will wag, albeit likely not sooo in-your-face...Indian society, even in well-to-do circles is quite conservative/regressive, and this is a small village in Gujarat we are talking about...Its not life in a Metro...

I also understand Kumud's reaction (though the crying again was a little over-dramatic)...she is not regretting that she left Pramaad...she is regretting marrying in haste (she has brought that up a couple of times the last few episodes)...And she feels really bad that on Diwali day her parents are forlorn because of the crap they heard...she is worried sick that her sisters may not get married because of what has (wrongly) been attributed to her...she feels like she is bringing her family down,,,,Kumud is a strong person...but it would be unreal to make her a superwoman, totally untouched by these barbs...Khoti Kaki's words stung so much, anyone would feel low after that...

As regards SaMud, lets face it...these people have faced too much in their lives to start doing the cutie-cuitie romance right away. ( and we already did get the adorable SRRYO scene) ..In a way I want Saras to realize that he is partially responsible for this mess, he should fix it...He still loves her, knows she loves him...they dont need to fall in love again...they dont need to re-kindle the magic before he asks for her hand...The magic will get ignited in due course...they have bigger issues at hand now...

Lets see how this track proceeds...but NO Saras-Kusum/ Kumud forgiving Pramad...That is a NO NO NO

A disclosure

... I have a dear cousin who walked out of a mini - Pramad type relationship (no infidelity, but almost entirely the rest of the fun stuff incl. marital rape)...and then lived through death / acid threats phase...in a tier 2 town in Gujarat...

...Full disclosure of her marriage condition to the community went a long way...And that's the way it typically works for people who have gone through this both in metros or tier 2 towns...unless you are in some backwaters, in which case you won't even make it out alive...

...So I am very much appalled by this track and what it stands for...It puts the monkey back on Kumud's back couched in the sophistry of TRP requirements, that's what happens in real life, Indian culture is like this only etc.

...Neways...I will still condone it...Brought some memories back...This is not the way she or us behaved...If we had she would have lost everything...

p.s.
My cousin is now happily married & settled...and that's all that matters...Show to chalta rahega..

p.p.s.
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.
