I said from the beginning that Kusum has been in love with Saras and i believe she fell in love when he came to Ratnagiri. Because Kumud had asked him to come and refuse the proposal.

Kusum has more faith in Saras than Kumud ever had.

However we know that Saras is the type of person who once he has loved will remain faithful to that love. So now he will be in big trouble his heart against his duty.
